At present, i am hunkering in my car waiting for the rain to subside. They called the softball game an inning early due to this nimbostratus bearing down on us. The multiple flashes of lightning in the distance didn't help much either.

So, Hector Santiago is expected to be limited to 75-80 pitches. That's probably 4, MAYBE 5 innings for him. So, figure another 4-5 innings from the pen today. Not going to leave much available for Wednesday and Adalberto Mejia's start.

Sorry. This is what i get for waiting until the last second, discussing possibility of catching Thursday's game at Fenway, wading through more reverse rush hour traffic than usual, late to softball... Life is complicated.

 

Belated thoughts:

 

1. Parables: The wisdom of the ages is in 'em. Never get the third out at third. Don't cross the road if you can't get out of the kitchen. Never groove an 0-2 pitch. A penny saved is worth two in the bush. Always back up your thesis. People in glass houses should sink ships. Oh right. These are proverbs. That's what i get for running late.

 

2. Parabolas. What goes up must come down. Trajectory and all. That's what makes it easier for outfielders to field them flies.

 

3. Paradoxes. Well it made sense at the time...

 

4. Paragon. I infer from context it must be something good. Like maybe Buxton is a paragon of fielding?

 

5. Pair of people. Oh, i guess i mean the Twins. Yeah, think about them.

They should start Duffy, he hasn't pitched since Saturday, let him go as long as he's effective (once through the order?), then move to Santiago.

Is it wrong to think that Santiago returning might be a good thing for this abomination of a rotation after Santana/Berrios?

You know, if you got a little busy for a couple of days, and didn't bother to follow the rotation, wouldn't it be nice to check in and see who's pitching and say, "Oh, it's 'Santiago' today," instead of "Oh, my God..."

It looks like Santiago got a little of his velocity back after he recovered from that injury. That might be a big factor for him if he wants to pitch like he did in April again.
