Oh, and TwinsNorth? I expect a like on my intro, because I brought a Canadian into the intro!

Well, when you put that many qualifiers on it. This kind of analysis really shows the limits of just posting WAR and having that be the only conclusion.

The fact that he got over 500 PAs shows he far from the top 5 worst. He was certainly overexposed, but if he was hidden a little more and played to his strengths, his WAR counting stats would have been less negative. If he only had 300 PAs, that would not have made him "better" but by this standard he would have been significantly better.

I am interested to see him in a limited role and see what he can produce, now that he has no other options.

Everybody has their own guys and if DanSan is one of yours than kudos.

I just can't see how hiding a player on the 25 man is beneficial. Similar criticism has been leveled against the Twins for trying to hide Haley in the bullpen. I wouldn't say he was overexposed so much as he was simply exposed.

Santana seems to get "punto hate" on Twins Daily and I'm feeling a bit sad for him.....hope he and Molitors'  lineup ROCKS another WIN!!!!!

I've never seen the term "Punto Hate," but it is descriptive and pointed and will hence become a part of my vocabulary.

Thanks Jerr!

I'll try to do my part to avoid spewing unwarranted negativity at role players and their contributions.

Two things:

1. I hate it when I run out of 'LIKE's.

2. Does anyone else wonder why Gibson is working so high in the zone? I mean, it's no worse than Santiago yesterday, but that is where Hector lives. Gibson, not so much.

I'm wondering the same thing about Gibson & I think I'm going to run out of "Likes" soon.

Hopefully they've figured out that everyone is uppercutting, and working up in the zone is a good idea. I think Parker and/or one of the nicks has been suggesting that for 2 years now for Gibby...

Our framing guy didn't get the call on Cain.

Damn good pitch, though. Not very efficient, but Gibson is definitely limiting damage so far. I'll take it for sure.

Fair. How many shots should DanSan get? This is year 4. Genuinely curious, not a rip, just a question.

I'm not sure that's how I'd look at it. Hard numbers are dangerous.  Not to mention, he did quite well in 2014 and did well in the minors in 2015 (not much in the majors)... so I see two failed attempts in 2015 and 2016. I do tend to agree this is make or break for him, as he's going to go to arb next year and if he fails again, won't be worth what he's going to get...

But honestly, this is a player by player type situation.

Gibson leaving his pitches up early.  Not a good sign for a ground ball pitcher.

So far it's working!

Is the catcher setting up high?  Don't mind it if he's doing this to keep them off balance.  When they level out a swing, then start working lower... Makes sense actually.

I think a lot of this is intentional.

Maybe Danny Santana in the outfield is a strategy to bring some extra excitement to borderline routine fly balls.

Glad he was able to recover.
