Just stumbled on this article in MLB Rumors.   http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/

Brief bio on Sawdaye:  Red Sox vice president of international and amateur scouting.

Snippet:  The Twins are in contention for Sawdaye.  A report indicated Falvey has the final say on the GM choice.

[i thought that last part was written in stone.  Whatever.]

Last sentence:  Given that the Twins are in contention for Sawdaye, it’s reasonable to suggest he could become Falvey’s second-in-command.

Yeah. They should get that done.  Couple birds with one stone:  Rob Antony & Deron Johnson.  I like it.

After watching the changes being made to Berrios' and Duffey's pitching mechanics at the MLB level makes me question the MiLB development system as a whole.

Yeah, I'm the guy who's been advocating patience with these call-ups, but changing their windups?  That's not a small thing.

Twins vs. Red Sox usually doesn't work out too well.

However if this guy is actually considering the assistant GM job in AZ instead of the GM job in Boston, perhaps he's actively looking to leave. It's possible Dombrowski is too much of a micro-manager or something and these assistants would prefer to spread their wings.

If there are some ill-winds blowing in Beantown, that would be just fine by me, not just in the case of snagging this guy, but in terms of that team's future; their offense is starting to look frightening, I wouldn't mind something tripping them up.

why in the world would someone want to work in that sinking ship in AZ, or did they finally clean house?

Manager is gone, GM is gone, and LaRussa was demoted to a non-decision making advisory role.

At least it appears the Falvey has his fingers in other team's pies. While I would welcome some of his cohorts from Cleveland, I would really like a group of men and women with a diverse background from multiple organizations. If the new front office is just made up of old Minnesota guys and new Cleveland cronies the country club didn't really get disbanded so much as it expanded.

I want to throw this back out there:

Top of my list Dan Kantrovitz, Assistant GM of the A's.He's only 37 and has spent the last 14 years split between the A's and the Cards (doing 2 stints with each). He was director of Scouting for the Cards; in charge of oversight of statistical analysis for evaluating and targeting players in the draft, free agency and trades; and extensive international operations experience for the A's.He also has a Masters in Statistics from Harvard.Billy Beane's sidekick, but with extra experience in the Card's front office, so he knows how to win.

I'll throw one more thing out - he's worked with fiscal constraints of the A's.  I think he'd make a great team with Falvey.

So either we were never actually interested in this guy, or this organization is just totally unappealing.

Or, he had a relationship with the new leader in AZ already......your choices are not the only logical reasons this didn't happen.

Good name. I wasn't aware of him, but I like the background.

Or Derek Falvey is under contract with the Indians for the entire season, including playoffs and can not do work for any other organization.

I'm not sure what this has to do with anything?

I'm guessing the guy would have been willing to wait another week for the job if he wanted it.

Sure, anything is possible.

Isn't our job opening a step up from the one he accepted in Arizona though? Maybe I'm mistaken.
