There are threads all over the board on who should stay or who should go for the Twins. Kind of like Brexit….so I thought, hey, I just moved, let’s talk about moving, shall we?*

1. Moving is stressful. We packed up from a house we owned for 22 years, to move to an apartment….there was a lot of stuff I had no idea we owned. The coolest find was old videos from when the kids were very young, which digitized and have mostly watched….want to judge yourself as an early parent, watch how you talked to your kids. Oh, as for the move, we sold or donated so much stuff it was unreal. Really, unburden yourself, and clean out 1 closet a month….trust me.

2. In golf moving day is (according to Wikipedia): The penultimate day of a four-day tournament, so called because it is the day where competitors try to set themselves up for the final push on the final day. A pessimist would say that’s because some of the competitors missed the cut, and are moving back home. The optimist would say it’s because it is the day the real competitors move to the fore (see what I did there) leaving the others behind. Some of you might not know what golf is, I feel bad for you.

3. Moving to a new state is fun, if you like new things. Oregon has turned out to be especially fun. There are wineries (real ones, not like MN ones), breweries (some, admittedly are better than others, but when there are something like 75-100 near you, well, that’s a lot), mountains to hike on, and the people are super nice…….I am really impressed with how nice the people are. Not so much the apartment complex, but co-workers, random people in bars and wineries, contacts my wife is building with her new company, everyone seems really nice. People talk to you, and seem genuinely interested in welcoming you and helping you find new places to go and things to do. Just today I was in line at PotBelly (really need to start packing my lunch), and I took a practice golf swing (sometimes I do that, not as often as I use … or parentheticals, but often), and the guy behind me asked if I just hit it 250 in the fairway. We got talking, he works in my building. I got his card. He owns a small business. He has suggestions for lunch and golf. Lots of options opened up, just because he was nice.

4. Moving to a new job is hard. I didn’t do that, but my wife bought a company. Starting a small company from scratch is hard. Doing it in a community where you just moved, and only know 1 other person? Super hard. But, I think many of the younger among us are right, moving jobs more often than our parents did is probably a good idea. My wife has to basically spend all her time meeting new people to help her get leads. That has already led to us being invited to two parties, and several other activities. She’ll be the main conduit to new friends.

5. Moving onto the twins, and who should move on….no, wait, I don’t like serious game threads.

Btw, with the timezone change, did I get this up before the game was over? Having sports end so early is weird (and having primetime tv end so late sucks).

Oh, thank goodness. When I first read "moving" my aged mind thought it was going to be a thread about "movements."

They say that moving is one of the most stressful occurrences on one's life. I remember when we moved from Oklahoma to California. We packed up all our possessions in the old truck and set off. It was a long trip with many mishaps. I remember how excited we all were to make it across the desert in one piece (not counting Granpa) and to finally be outside of Bakersfield come sun up - only to have Ma tell us that Granma had passed-on in the back of the truck that night. There wasn't much work in California but we lucked into some jobs picking peaches for 5 cents a box - but it turned out we had only been brought in as strike-busters. I then had a little altercation with the authorities and had to hide out in a cave for a while. The family took up work picking cotton until torrential rains caused a flood one night and my expectant sister, Rose of Sharon, went into labor. She lost the baby but found solace nursing a half-starved old man in a barn. Yeah, I tell ya moving can be stressful.

Just remember what Jack Nicholson said in "The Bucket List." We of the prune juice brigade don't dare let things "sneak out."

Since moving to TX I've made it a goal to get better at golf. Really tough to do in MN with a finite amount of time to get your rounds in.

Over the last year I've been able to cut my score down by 10-15 (15 on a great day) strokes. It's still by far the most frustrating, yet fun, sport I've ever played.

Moving is a stressful time in your life, no matter what age you are. Leaving familiar people you know, your routine, and family members is a difficult decision to make. It's also a very thrilling time in your life! Especially when it's your own, or collective decision...

I'll always remember waking up in MN during the winter of 2014. 28th consecutive day of below 0 temps, and thinking "What the hell am I doing here?" Going through the motions with that time's Miss Vanimal, dispirited about the direction my personal and professional life was going.

Sometimes gambling on yourself/ves pays off! There are great people all over the globe... Open up to new adventures and people, and you could get a new lunch/golf buddy in the process!

I been warped by the rain, driven by the snow
I'm drunk and dirty don't ya know, and I'm still, willin'
Out on the road late at night, Seen my pretty Alice in every head light
Alice, Dallas Alice
I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me, weed, whites, and wine
And you show me a sign
I'll be willin', to be movin'

I think (hope) Buxton will hit big league pitching someday. But right now, he looks awful.

I wasn't tuned into the game, but watched his AB on GameDay.  3-1 count, 3 ball way out of the strikezone and he swings.  Someone needs to have a little chat with him.

He got a great pitch to hit and popped it up. But at least he actually put the ball in play for once.

Nolasco's breaking balls are just nasty so far.  Could it be another gem?

Catching up in this thread, and I see you are to blame. :)
