formerly33 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Whew ... what a relief! No runs allowed and we still remembered how to lose! I was beginning to worry a little after all that winning ... Something to think about: Pizza - when chicken dinnah goes scarce, pizza steps in. I made pizza the day of the 2015 NFC Championship, but I waited to put the cheese on until after Jermaine Kearse carried the ball into the end zone. I made a Facebook post that night along the line of, "I think my family is glad they got cheese on their pizza tonight," and my friend (who is a HUGE Packers fan) responded innocently, "Is this an unusual thing in your family?" Um ... well, now that you mention it, yeah, I guess they usually take it for granted. Someone to think about: Bark's Lounge - Bark is a beloved member of the TD community and is celebrating his birthday today. If you don't know Bark to one extent or another ... you missed out big time. Twins Daily wouldn't be the same without him. I entered the scene fairly recently, but I do know that the Rally Bunny and Rally Cockroach were his brainchild(ren), and after them the Rally Roger. (I think that's how it went.) Unfortunately, Bark eventually incinerated the Rally Roger, and while a clone was later created, its powers were never equal to that of its predecessor. In his anguish upon realizing the permanence of this rash act, Bark presented us with the antidote to this dilemma: Rally Rum. While it lifted the Twins out of a 9 game skid, the whole community drowned their sorrows in this top of the line beverage, and within four days' time all the rum had run dry. He's a champion of TD posters and has carried mourning Twins fans through countless games and a handful of seasons with his weird yet fun posts and masterful representations of the flights of Riverbrian (his game time colleague and partner in crime)'s imagination. In 2015 he earned the popular vote for the Award for Game Thread Participation in a tie with USAFChief, a most deserving title. Since the Most Valuable Poster award has yet to be established, I'd like to cast the first vote for Bark's Lounge. And finally, I personally am lucky enough to know him to be an amazing person and wonderful friend. Happy birthday, Bark!! Here's to many more: P.S. I just wrote that up and then accidentally closed the window. THANK YOU TWINS DAILY FOR AUTO SAVE. Weather: Increasing clouds (not sure how many to start out with), with a low around 58. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Lineups: TWINS (20-44): SS Eduardo Nunez [R]DH Joe Mauer [L]LF Robbie Grossman 3B Trevor Plouffe [R]2B Brian Dozier [R]1B Byung-ho Park [R]RF Max Kepler [L]C Kurt Suzuki [L]CF Byron Buxton [R]SP Tyler Duffey [R] ANGELS (28-37): 3B Yunel Escobar [R]RF Kole Calhoun [L]CF Mike Trout [R]DH Albert Pujols [R]1B C.J. Cron [R]LF Jefry Marte [R]2B Johnny Giavotella [R]C Jett Bandy [R]SS Andrelton Simmons [R]SP Hector Santiago [L] Win, Twins. That's not merely a request; it is absolutely mandatory tonight. Bark is not an Angels fan, you morons. Get out there and win. Is that unduly harsh?
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Happy birthday Bark!! This site wouldn't be the same without you on here. Hopefully you're peeping in your neighbor's windows as we speak!
David HK Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Ahhh, the Rally Rum-- Just in time for breakfast! You all better hurry and get to the thread before it's all gone-- I'm not so good at sharing.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 In regards to pizza, that is my favorite meal of all-time. If that old saying "You are what you eat" was true, I would have transformed into a slice of pepperoni and mushroom pizza many years ago...
David HK Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Hey Bark-- 生日快樂 !! Here's hoping you still have some of those wrinkled old 20's from '71 in that back pack...

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Just occurred to me... If the team scores in the top of the first, and the start pitches the whole game without losing the lead, does he get credit for a save?
David HK Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Hey, where is everybody? It's not only Bark's birthday, it's---

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Minor breaking news: I'm flying back to MN for the first time in 2 years for a buddy's wedding and to surprise my old man for Father's day! I'm looking at getting tickets on Sunday.. so for those who want to have a drink with the real Vanimal, this may be your chance to do so!

Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 How much of a surprise is it when you post it on the internet?Unless one of you is my dad in disguise, then the surprise is still a surprise.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Happy Birthday, Bark. Great call the other night on Kepler. Can you please predict who wins it for the Twins tonight?
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 UND night at TF................why? What am I missing? Dave St. Peter inspired?
Platoon Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Vans dad is likely a mature sensible adult with too much common sense to be on a TD GT.
David HK Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Oh, awesome- they clobbered my Russian stream, but now I've got one from the UK- Rex the Wonderdog on the broadcast, and the ads are a helluva lot more interesting.
jimmer Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 UND night at TF................why? What am I missing? Dave St. Peter inspired?Because there are a ton of Twins fans in N Dakota (many also UND fans) and it's also Twins territory?

formerly33 Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Author Posted June 16, 2016 I'm reading The Keillor Reader, and he's reminiscing about a certain Saturday night in June of 1956. "And suddenly, on the radio, Bob Motley is in a white froth yelling, 'Goodbye mama, that train is leaving the station! Whoooooooooooooo-eeee!' his trademark home-run cry, and Daddy perks up his ears but it isn't a homer, it's a long fly out for Miller slugger Clint Hartung." Apparently Dick Bremer's been around a lot longer than I previously thought.
