Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 With this lead they could send Zombie Shane from Walking Dead out for the ninth and leave with a win. He's got a sneaky fastball I bet
LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 If the Twins can pull off the eminently doable feat of not scoring in the ninth, they'll pull within four runs of the Braves for the MLB lead in negative run differential, so...

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 The home team Angels have the day off, while the Twins get to FedEx themselves two thirds of the way across the country for their game later today with the franchise's 21st century El Guapo, the Yankees. Thanks, MLB schedulers! http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m52nxxgEAb1qmfg84o1_500.jpg

LaBombo Verified Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 It's only the 6th time this year the Twins have given up 10 or more runs? I kinda thought they managed that 6 times in, like, May alone. Well, that might be one season futility record that's out of reach... sigh.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Hey- just paid attention for a moment- Nice stroke by young Mr. Bux there. Wow- how high is this K zone tonight? And-- is that 'our' old pal Deolis? He's looking good! ...of course, he's no longer a Twin... Yep... it seemed like we were "Waiting for Deolis" for 7 years to finally break through and bring some small token of justificationary reward to the Johan trade... leave it to the Pirates, and now the Angels, to make the necessary tweaks from that Twins' 7-year investment in Guerra to reap the rewards.
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 I wonder if Fangraphs has an article about how many runs or how many tenths of ERA Andrelton's glove might save a pitcher with an average GB/FB ratio over the course of a full season I hear tell that Fangraphs has taken the leap on the Simmons-@-SS-effect and made those 1/10ths of an ER a formal unit of measure and after some Ozzie-Smith-back-testing and number-crunching of past Cardinal pitches... are now officially quantified, with the aid of a smoothing constant, as, "Andreltons +".
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 The Twins bullpen is reaching the point where regardless of effectiveness or lack thereof, they should just keep a military-style duty rotation between the majors and AAA to keep the work load below 60 innings for everyone. To make that work I think some of the AA guys will probably need to be thrown into the mix, as well. (FYI, just some quick back-of-the-napkin math- the Twins starters are averaging about 5.1 Innings/Start. With 97 games left to play, and adding, let's say, maybe a dozen more extra-inning games, that would mean that an 8-man bullpen will need to average ~50 innings apiece total from June 16 to the end of the season... somehow, and just using one guy as an example, and who was seemingly brought in as one of the panacea reinforcements to meet that lofty bullpen goal, I don't think Neil Ramirez has the arm left in him to fulfill his share of the load...)
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Ramirez in now, and plenty more enthusiastic troops ready to do their part next when the bullpen ramp drops down... http://33.media.tumblr.com/c57be6ff74722eaaa7c29980077b6415/tumblr_mm2n4xskqI1snpc3lo1_500.gif I swear, I just went back and found this post. LOL funny. And then I checked out Twitter: Mike Berardino Verified account@MikeBerardinoThis was Neil Ramirez's 81st career MLB outing. Threw 40 pitches. Previous high was 32. History of shoulder woes. Old Neil had a 40-pitch adventure vs. the Angels and basically succeeded in taking a snail-and-turtle-moving-inevitability-of-outcome-event into complete-standstill-status. If his arm is still attached to his body when the Twins get back to Minneapolis, I greatly look forward to more mop-up-pulse-pounding-pitch-filled-pointlessness from our latest waiver-wire-wonder... until he goes on the 60-day DL some time in July...
