I briefly considered blasting up to LA on my motorcycle to see this game. Dodged a bullet.

Possibly even literally...

Psst. I don't think he gets it.

Try being more ironic.

And if that doesn't work, go Professor Sean on it and try being more ironical.

PS GWH was made partly on location in Canada, so ironical may be be Canadian or something...

Rogers isn't looking too good... then again, who is?

I had a Blade Runner reference for this, but I'm too tired to remember thanks to the constant effort to not swear off Twins baseball forever...

If you ride a motorcycle, you have to learn some hard realities. Drivers either don't see you, don't care, or are trying to kill you. You assume the first two, and try to steer clear of the last. This is also why it's good to have a bike that will do 130 mph. It's to get away from the ones that are trying to kill you.

Yep, heard that very same travel guide from MN friends transplanted to San Diego.   Asked them shortly after they moved out there if they had ridden in LA yet.  Answer:  "Just once.  Never again.  It's kinda like Road Warrior without the shoulder pads'.

So the point of Dick's convoluted Duffey comparison to good Gibson/bad Gibson was that now even our good pitcher is bad?

Well that sounds perfectly safe.

Heh-  I battled those LA freeways for 8-9 years on my trusty steed.

There was nothing more I ever wanted to have in my saddle bags than a spiky, old-school mace.

And the ability to swing it with my left hand, and keep my right on the throttle....

Moto

May she rest in peace.  *sniff*

Actually, it can be pretty crazy if you're in a car, too. I was driving a buddy to an LA airport a few weeks ago when we encountered a genuine road rage driver. The guy was honking like a madman as I shifted lanes, then he floored it and zoomed around us like he thought we were driving chariots in Ben Hur. LA does appear to have a sprinkling of psychos driving cars.

Happy birthday Bark!! This site wouldn't be the same without you on here. Hopefully you're peeping in your neighbor's windows as we speak!

Always!!!

Remember in April when the excuse was we had faced Baltimore, KC, and the tough part of the schedule? Good times :)

Oh, Yankees come into town this weekend. Maybe Gardy will guest-manage a couple games for us.

These are a dead giveaway for the chariot guys...

I think the knee pads make the difference personally, but point taken.

Hey-  just paid attention for a moment-

Nice stroke by young Mr. Bux there.

Wow-  how high is this K zone tonight?

And--  is that 'our' old pal Deolis?  He's looking good!

...of course, he's no longer a Twin...

You should give your brain more credit! It's almost sure to come in handy eventually...

I wonder if Fangraphs has an article about how many runs or how many tenths of ERA Andrelton's glove might save a pitcher with an average GB/FB ratio over the course of a full season

Oh, boy-- I joined too late for the Bunny/ Cockroach.  There's gotta be an archive of those lovely creations somewhere...

Let me see what I can find...

I'm wondering if I should have another beer, I think this sold me.

Well that sounds perfectly safe.

Being "safe" on a motorcycle is an art, but one useful rule of thumb is, try to see bad situations early, then don't be there when they happen. That means looking ahead of traffic as far as possible, not just a couple car lengths. It also means getting away from clusters of cars near interchanges, which means accelerating quickly from 80 to 100 mph, if you see an opening. The best way to use the speed of a motorcycle is to stay away from cars. When I was riding a Yamaha FZ6 (top speed 138), the ability to dust a cluster of cars and find an open area was an important safety factor.

The bike I have today (selling it) is a Honda NC700x, more suited to long trips than dodging traffic. It's an okay bike, but frankly I'd feel a lot safer with a bike that has more zip. The Honda cruises nicely at 80, but its acceleration from 80 to 100 is not good, and it tops out at only 113 or so. The higher top end isn't for showing off. It's so that going from 80 to 100 happens quickly when you need it, with speed to spare. If 100 mph is 90 percent of your top end, your torque curve is tapering off as you reach 100.

My next bike will probably be another adventure bike, but hopefully I'll be able to get something a little more conventional, like a Kawasaki Versys. Higher rev curve, top speed about 130, good gas mileage. Wish I'd bought that instead of the Honda. Oh, well...

The Twins bullpen is reaching the point where regardless of effectiveness or lack thereof, they should just keep a military-style duty rotation between the majors and AAA to keep the work load below 60 innings for everyone.

Maybe the Angels will send Shane Robinson to the mound for the ninth?

With this lead they could send Zombie Shane from Walking Dead out for the ninth and leave with a win.
