Plouffe to the Royals?

Mike Moustakas tore his ACL and would figure to be out for months, perhaps the remainder of the season. If, in fact, he is done until September or longer, the Royals would need to plug the hole at third. While Plouffe isn't a gold-glover, he is solid in the field and provides a bit of power for the Royals. It is a pretty good fit and the Twins shouldn't have to worry about trading within their division when they are light years behind everyone else.

Both Plouffe and Moose would have one additional year before hitting free agency, so the Royals would probably have to trade one of them before 2017. It isn't a perfect fit, but there has to be some interest down I-35 for a proven player.

Plouffe would be a good fit for the Royals, but if it happens, I would hope the Twins would not give him away.

He has been a "good citizen" for the Twins, and I would like to see him rewarded with the opportunity to play with a potential playoff team.

I don't see it happening, the Royals have plenty of other guys they can give looks to, and there really is no room for Plouffe on the roster in 2017 anyways.

The Yankees could be a decent fit, Headley is stinking up the joint for them currently.

Just my opinion, but I bet most teams outside of MN see Plouffe as a platoon player (ala Danny Valencia).  I don't see the Royals being interested with Cuthbert and HDozier

Plouffe just has that 2017 arbirtation salary hanging over his head, and then free-agency. At least, he's a rental for the remainder of this season and set free a season early to see what the actual market is for him. At best, a team feels he is worth a $10+ million expense in 2017 with the potential of a flip to another team as a short-term rental for a very minor prospect. Sad.

The Mets might be another fit as well.

Why? They have David Wright, and Duda will be back in 4 weeks.

Yeah I don't see why the Mets would want him either. Sure Wright has injury concerns, but those cheap owners aren't going to pay Plouffe $5 million or whatever is left on his 2016 salary to be a David Wright insurance policy

I agree the Mets have Wright.  He's their version of Joe Mauer by the way, except that he's signed longer.  But he hasn't had a good season since 2013 and has lots of injury issues.  Plouffe can be a 1 or 2 year rental.  That makes him fairly expendable, not to mention in AL games, you have someone who can potentially DH that doesn't happen to be your 9th best hitter.

How about Boston - with Panda being fat and out. Maybe we can trade Plouffe and Nolasco for Panda?

Boston has a 3rd baseman significantly younger, better and cheaper than Plouffe.

Well they should put him in right field then if they read the TR handbook

Plouffe for a decent reliever if we can.    Move May to the rotation so that by year end it is Santana, May, Duffey, Gibson and Berrios.  Outfield of Arcia, Buxton and Kepler.   Sano, Escobar, Dozier (Polanco) and Mauer in the infield.    Still a few holes but a calendar year or two rather than light years.

Without Pedro Sandoval in the locker room, they'd certainly have room for 2, maybe 3 more people
