Who are you going to follow/root for in 2016?

Let's face it, the Twins 2016 is toast, we aren't sniffing the playoffs and if we manage to get close to .500 to end the season it will be a minor miracle.

Baseball is an awesome sport, and this season is far too short to stop caring about meaningful baseball games, thus, who will you be rooting/watching for and why from here on out:

My choices:

1. Seattle Mariners- my family lives in Seattle and the team has never even been in the World Series! Reasons enough! But they have been a fun team to watch overall and have suffered through several dissapointing seasons to get where they are, they pitch well, they hit well, they field well and they went out and addressed their bullpen when it was poor to turn it into an asset.

2. Washington Nationals- why not? Harper is the best player in baseball and Washington could use a winner as a city.

3. NY Mets- the party here would be awesome. Always good to see them one up the Yankees as well.

4. Toronto- O Canada!

Your choices?

Harper is the best player in baseball?  Did Trout retire? :-)  Not even sure Harper is the best player in that part of the country.  Machado says, 'hello' :-)

Oh, BTW, I am a fan of Harper and how he plays.  And it's awesome how excellent his numbers are this year even with a horrendous BABIP.

To answer the question: For a very long time, I've liked the Twins, Rockies and then Cubs.  Those will always be the team I root for.

For me, none other than the Chicago Cubs.  My favorite city in the world and baseball's version of the Vikings.  I've had my eyes laser focused on a long weekend in Wrigleyville, Friday afternoon game, go out, sleep, then hair of the dog in the dark corners of Sluggers before the Saturday afternoon tilt at the Friendly Confines.  God, it sounds like I should just move to Chicago and follow the Twins from afar.

There's only one team I can always root for, and unfortunately they're 11-31 right now. I don't have a second place rooting interest. Before 2004 that was the Red Sox, but now they are no more than the Yankees with beards.

Chicago is your favorite city in the World?

Um, you gotta problem with that? ;)

I won't be cheering on any other team, but it would be fun to see an all-Chicago WS, but I won't be anywhere but home for that final game. No matter who would win would result in pandemonium.

Keep the minor league reports going on this site, they have been my solace for the last five years and will continue until we get a major league team in Minnesota.

I've heard that Chicago is the most favorite city for visiting baseball players. I'm sure it's because they all look forward to the Saturday night symphony concert.

As for pandemonium, I think you would be wise not to venture out any more than necessary in the event of a White Sox-Cubs series. That could make St. Patrick's day look like a 4-year-old's birthday party.

I will do as always...follow baseball, root for the Twins.

Leave it to Chief to be succinct and pragmatic :)

Lol ... for sure.

As for pandemonium ... I wouldn't even want to guess what kind of pandemonium to expect ... burning the place down win or lose ... rioting win or lose ... lots of fights between winners and losers with deaths reported ... and yes, the expected drunkenness, WORSE than St. Patrick's yes, you called that one. And if anyone has been to Chicago during St. Patrick's Day celebrations ... worst. party. ever.

I really really want to see the White Sox beat the Cubs in the word series now. I love a good riot.

I will continue to root for the Twins to win and follow the minors - but I do have some other teams I like to follow.   I grew up in Maryland near DC and the Nationals are in the NL - so they would be my 2nd favorite team.   For some reason I also like Seattle this year - we went on a family vacation there last year and really liked the area.  Seems like it is time for them.     All that being said and though I do not like any of the following teams - it would be fun to see a Cubs-White Sox  or Wrigley-Fenway World Series this year.

Who ever is playing the Twins.   I want the Placeholders on the roster to sit down, because they have lost us enough games.  Hughes is a perfect example.  Every game he gives up a lead, and I know sometimes, like yesterday it is only a couple, but that changes your players mentality.  I want to see the young guys up with a long leash.  I want them to learn from their mistakes. I want a real GM and a real coaching staff, Like the Cubs have.  There is no reason we shouldn't be the Cubs, as far as talent use and development.  We are not the Cubs due to organizational ineptitude and arrogance.

Don't get me wrong, I don't want the Twins to lose, but the problem with winning just enough, is that there will never be major changes.  If you doubt what I say, ask yourself this.  Do I have ANY confidence that this current FO/coaching staff can get us to the World Series in the next ten years?

PS.  Rockies and Royals

I want the blueprint that the Royals are working with to be something we can do.
