You can spend hours analyzing a roster, running the numbers, and checking on scouting reports. Or you can look at the lineup and think, "If Trevor Plouffe is the cleanup hitter, that ain't a very good team!"

Without additional explanation, I'm going to assume it was square in the nuts.

Just below the right knee.

Yeah... Those players should bat One Thousand.  :)

My favorite book as a kid.

(I mentioned this last year - it was written by Bob Allison, but not that Bob Allison!)

Now that I think about it

If you actually batted 1000

Eventually you'd get bored and you'd quit to join the Geek Squad at Best Buy.

So I'm guessing Tommy Milone is still with the team?  I was kind of hoping someone would claim him.  Although I'm guessing if he asked for a trade over being sent to the bullpen they can always point to the fact that no other team would take him, even for nothing in return.

Yep, he flew to AAA today. According to Darren Wolfson:

Hard to say no to AAA w/ contract.

If Milone can pitch well in AAA, he'll probably be back at some point.

I had that book too!

I remember that book. IIRC, the kid walked all the time because he fouled off so many pitches. Then he gets a big hit at the end of the season or something like that.

Oh... I can do stuff.

I'll declare no scholarships for managers. I'd hire 5 Managers and rotate them. If you manage and win... you get to manage the next day. If you lose... you get moved to the back of the rotation.

After a couple of months... I'll fire the two managers with the worst record. Not just fire them... Firing Squad right in front of the Kirby Puckett statue. Chief will be the guy who yells Fire.

With the remaining three managers... I'll be able to manager by match up... I'll use the guy who does a better job against pitchers with high fly ball ratios for example.

This is the post of the hour (I don't want to over-complement you. (Actually, you should write a damn baseball book!)

he always pitches well at AAA. That seems to be his current ceiling.

My youngest son came to me for dating advice recently.  "Find a girl with a tatoo, son," I told him.  "She's already proven herself capable of making a bad decision she'll later regret."

I'm going to say something and then duck to avoid getting hit with the rotten tomatoes.

Ready

I'm glad Milone is still with us for depth.

OK... I'm going to run over to page 9 now to keep myself clear.

I don't know... I can see getting married and having a couple of kids but...

A Tattoo? That's so permanent.

My current wife's ex was so bad that she had exactly what I needed in a wife...low standards.

Sano's attitude with homeplate umpires is grating. I'm a huge fan, but he will get nowhere with this attitude.

He's still young.  But I agree.

Right. Perfect fodder for a kid - the come-from-behind-team-person-always-wins-in-the-end ... Well, is this appropriate in this thread, now that I think of it?

Agree.

With the first part about still having Milone.
