Suggesting a Byron Buxton trade is pretty ridiculous.

Is it? Would you trade him for Sonny Gray, knowing you have Rosario, Kepler, Granite, Wade, and corner OF are "easy" to find in FA? What about Straily and a minor league player (with parts thrown in on both sides), or Bundy?

I agree, super, super, unlikely, and I posted hahahaha at the front, and he was answering what name would come out of the blue, but would you deal him for a SP?

I would not trade Buxton right now, especially not for a pitcher because that would be the biggest Tommy John Curse in the history of baseball.  We shouldn't do that to anyone.

Oh man, Buxton for Gray. What an interesting proposition. I wouldn't say no immediately.

the fact I don't know the answer, means it is not absurd either way. I think.

Buxton's not off limits for me, but I'd wait until the offseason when there are more interesting options than Sonny Gray to consider. Just not a fan. Chris Archer? deGrom? I'm listening on packages including Buxton.

no chance Archer is traded, imo. they are 1 game out of the playoffs, why are the Rays doing that next year?

I can't see the Mets doing it either, but I'd deal for either Archer or deGrom w/o even thinking.

1:49 Brusdar Graterol's only tool to rival his fastball is an 80-grade name.  He just was promoted to Elizabethtown.  How excited should we be about this kid?  I know he doesn't belong in the Michel Baez tier of pop-up guys but is he close to a 45 for you despite the enormous risk/distance?

Eric A Longenhagen
1:50 Yes. Mid-90s, strong, athletic build.

TKDC
1:31 Who did a better job trading Garcia, the Braves or the Twins?

Eric A Longenhagen
1:31 I like Huascar.

This is more generic, but there are links to the Twins' new prospects, and you can get some idea of relative value:

this one uses KATOH:

http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/projecting-all-of-the-prospects-traded-at-the-deadline/

Just read those articles, a week late...

Longenhagen doesn't like our second Garcia trade so much.  Among 69 prospects traded at the deadline, he ranks Littell #50 and Enns #63.  He doesn't assign a specific FV to either, but they are well down in the "40 FV and lower" group so it's quite possible they still didn't break 40.  Neither was ranked in Fangraphs' top 33 Yankee prospect list back in March (which I think ranks all of the 40 FV and better prospects in a system).

He liked Moya most of all, 45 FV and ranked #19.  Moya wasn't listed in his offseason Diamondbacks prospect article, so he's definitely been a fast riser this season.

Ynoa was #22, near the top of the "40 FV and below" group so likely 40 FV (what he had last offseason).

Watson, #40.  Again not ranked in the Nationals prospect list preseason, so perhaps still below 40 FV?

If they don't have a link in their name, they had under 40 FV at the beginning of the year, yes.

He was high on Ynoa, but everyone else is about the same, other than Moya.

I believe he plans to do a midseason update, we'll see if anything changes.

Here's an article on Miguel Sano and his dereased exit velocity in the 2nd half.  http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/is-miguel-sano-hurt-or-just-struggling/

Getting plunked twice in the same hand this month most likely explains the drop. Prior to that, it's possible he was playing through other pains that weren't significant enough to take a trip to the DL. It's pretty difficult to maintain the hard hits he was having all season long.

Right, but going from a BB% of 12.8% in the 1st half to 5.3% in the 2nd half (only 21 games though) isn't a great sign. I'm guessing the injuries have played a part in this too, so hopefully that's not a trend that continues.

mike sixel: If they Twins now “buy”, how do you think their “flipping back and forth” would look in other front offices? Would they even think about it?

12:27
Travis Sawchik: I don’t think they would worry about perception too much. Shouldn’t tells be allowed to adopt and adjust?

12:45
We’re Going Streaming: Is Buxton starting to get there?  Since July his splits are solid (.347/.407/.458) and he is 7/7 on SB attempts.

12:45
Travis Sawchik: I hope so. He might be the best pure athlete in the game

12:39 In one of your daily prospect notes you talked about Akil Baddoo and if he shows more power he is a potential top 100.

Eric A Longenhagen
12:41 Well, yeah. He's a 70 runner who plays CF. If that guy starts hitting and hitting for power in games then he's a very good prospect. Baddoo is just 18 and is doing that, in a small sample.

Rays right-hander Jose De Leon is on the minor league disabled list for the third time this season, tweets Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times. De Leon, who has previously dealt with forearm/flexor issues, now has tendinitis in his right elbow, per Topkin. It’s been a frustrating first season with the Rays organization for De Leon — a highly touted pitching prospect that was acquired in a straight-up swap that sent Logan Forsythe to the Dodgers. De Leon has appeared in just one big league game with the Rays and has only 38 1/3 minor league innings under his belt, though he’s logged a 3.05 ERA with 44-to-16 K/BB ratio in the minors when healthy.

Logan Forsythe hasn't been doing the Dodgers many favors either.

This looks, so far, like a 'lose/lose' trade.

2B continues to be the weakest position on the Dodgers roster.

As Dozier heats up with an OPS >.800...
