Just because I haven't seen Joe (Mauer, McCarthy, or Madden -- the 3 M Boys) in  Right Field, doesn't mean I wouldn't like to. Yes, Park, Sano, and one of the 3M boys in there at the same time in a National League Park, I like it. I'll get on the phone with Molly (4M) right now.

Brilliant thread starter, Brian.  You 3rd and most salient point should be well observed.  Park, ergo Korea, ergo DMZ, ergo Red Scare, ergo Harper.  Seamless.

I know... You and I... We see it so clear.

BREAKING NEWS (and I'm loving every bit of it)  Colabello was caught for PED's and now faces an 80 game suspension.

What a strange thing to derive joy from. I always thought Cola was a good guy.

Yes but deep down inside, every true Twins fan does not want an ex-Twin to succeed, it sucks to watch them thrive for someone else

Ignoring the buzzkill...

Anyways, I remember taking a family vacation to Washington DC. God it had to have been 8-10 years ago now back when Bush was in the office. There's certainly a lot to see in that city? District? I think the coolest place I saw was going to the top of the Washington Monument and overlooking the Lincoln Memorial.

I couldn't imagine how it looked when Martin Luther King was giving his "I Have a Dream Speech" where it was filled to the brim with people.

I'm kinda surprised by how utterly unsurprised I am by this news. I guess his numbers from last year really were too good to be true.

For every player who is ashamed for using PED's there's another who has no regrets because it got him to the majors. Not saying either about Colabello, just saying.

Ah, the true fan meme, my favourite.

If it makes you feel better, knock yourself out I guess.

TRAITOR, so you aren't a true fan?

I mean like, who whizzed in your Wheaties this morning?

I've got a friend, retired teacher, who goes to different parks each year with some other guys he taught with.  They went to DC this time, and arranged with Amy Klobachar for a tour of the White House. They should have a fun weekend if we can win a game or two.

Man, you need to change the first part of your user name, because it really isn't working for you.

Go ahead and laugh, get it out of your system.

Yes - that kind of bums me out.  Such a great story of a lot of hard work and perseverance to make a dream come true and now it will always be tainted.  I read his statement and he says he does not know how it got into his system.  I am always a little skeptical of player statements like this, but if that is true and he did not knowingly or intend to use a controlled substance, I feel for the guy.  Plus, unlike some of the bigger stars, losing that half year salary will be a big hurt financially, not to mention this might simply end his career.

1. Simply making the Major Leagues is the difference between a salary below Poverty to a salary over 500 Grand a year.

2. There is enormous competition for these MLB jobs that can be decided by the competitive advantage provided by PED's.

3. Who can blame anyone for being tempted to improve your odds at making the big leagues. Not only is making the major leagues a rare accomplishment and an incredible dream to be close to capturing... tha aside... serious crimes have been committed in other walks of life for much less money.

4. I wouldn't blame Colabello or anyone for succumbing to the temptation for the reasons listed above.

5. However... It's easy to hate the action when you think of those who don't make the majors or are beaten out of a major league job by someone who took PED's.

6. Colabello used to be the inspirational story of the guy who beat all odds to play in the majors.

7. That story is now gone and life is a little sadder today.

I've got to disagree here Brian. I highly doubt he took anything intentionally. He's not that kind of a guy, and would quit before cheating. He beat all odds to get to where he is. I hope it gets figured out just how this got into his system.
