Newbie here. Thanks for taking a look at this post.

Been a Twins fan all my life living in Ft Myers now but still watch as many games as I can find the time.

Did anyone else notice, at the end of today's game, a very short camera shot of Dozier patting Escobar on the shoulder and Eddie shoves his hand away and says (me reading lips now) something like: " don't touch me man"????

I've noticed that some members of the dugout don't always share the same enthusiasm for BD as for others. Anyone have ay thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Tony.

Welcome and thanks for the post.

We seldom hear about how players get along. If we do, it is usually after a player leaves the team.

I'd like to know more, but if I ran the Twins (or any other baseball team) I would want those types of issues kept out of the papers (and blogs).

So, basically, I got nothin'.

I didn't see it, but it would surprise me if there is anything going on, as Escobar seems like one of the most liked guys on the team.

It's probably nothing, but I'm interested in hearing if anyone else saw it and how they interpreted it.

Dozier is kinda polarizing figure in the clubhouse, same way that Greg Gagne was back in the day, and I will leave it at that.

Interesting comparison although I might have picked Lombardozzi. Either way, that's the feeling I get when I see random shots in the dugout. Today's little incident kind of solidified that for me. Escobar was not happy with BD. I have it on DVR. If I wasn't such a tech dummy, I'd figure out a way to post it so you guys could see it.

Tony.

Just a couple days ago, they were having a great time in the dugout together.  Tapping bats, etc.

My first thought is that maybe Escobar had a bad game, but it appears he did pretty good at the plate, but maybe messed up in the field or something? I know that the people I am closest to are the ones would only feel comfortable doing something like that too.....and only in the sense of someone trying to pick you up when you're pissed and you just don't want to hear it at the moment. Doesn't sound like that was the case here though.

Enough hinting Thry. Gagne and Dozier share being vocal Christians. I am sure that some on the team are put off by that, but from what I've seen Dozier plays his strong religious faith about right. He doesn't preface every statement with attributing all good to God and doesn't volunteer statements about his faith. If asked directly, I'm sure Dozier would share his faith, but I wouldn't expect it any other way.

The whispered story was that Gagne broke apart the "fun and games" 1987 World Series winner, by trying to convert guys and succeeding with Gary Gaetti. I don't know if that is fair to Gagne and, of course, only four years later, the Twins won the World Series again.

Someone mentioned this on Reusse's show today and he dismissed it as anything saying they like to kid Escobar and it all part of a on-going thing.

I do remember Dozier saying something about his religious beliefs and thinking that he did a good job of balancing simply saying what he believes in without trying to push it.

Even if it was a true moment of tension, these people are with each other constantly for long days during the season, and I am sure on occasion rub each other the wrong way from time to time.  It could have simply been a moment of irritation without having any significance in the big picture.

Welcome to TD and thanks for sharing.  I would hope that if there is any friction between these two then someone will step up and fix the situation.

On the topic of team chemistry in general, what team do you think has the most fun playing together?

From what I've seen it is Texas. They seem to really get along and have fun, which is why I think they are winnners.

I saw the same thing on TV and laughed out loud.  This has been an ongoing joke between the two of them for awhile now.  FSN had an interview with Dozier last year that explained how those two like to joke with each other and act mad.  If I could find the link to that interview I would post it.  No luck yet.

You nailed it. I've seen Esco get razzed by many teammates over the years- not just Dozier. He's the go-to guy on this team for good-natured jocularity and razzing- a good source for relief of in-game anxiety.

Well the announcement will soon be forthcoming what good buds they are, so that issue will be resolved. Are BD's religious beliefs polarizing in the clubhouse? That would not even be up for discussion if everyone would simply practice their own religion, or lack thereof, and leave others to do the same.

One more Faith Night and I might jump ship.

Escobar was frustrated earlier in the game. He wasn't happy in the third inning after his at bat with runners on 3rd and 2nd and 1 out. He got behind swinging at some crap and ended up grounding out to the pitcher... I'm talking about swinging at pitches out of the zone against Jungmann when he was struggling to find the zone. The camera showed him clearly upset sitting in the dugout by himself. Later he looked awful striking out in the 5th with the bases loaded. I'm talking... why are you swinging at that awful Capuano 55 MPH junk bad. It was like his head wasn't in the game at the plate. Escobar was up with the bases loaded twice and two runners in scoring position once in his first 3 at bats.

1 RBI on a ground out to SS in the 1st inning when he could have had 11 RBI's potentially. Escobar had a bad game at the plate.

Personal Note: Escobar and Murphy back to back in the order prevented the Twins from Winning 45 to 1 yesterday.

I have no idea who Dozier is... or Escobar... or Mauer... or anyone on the team... Personality wise. But everybody across the world has different personalities. Kinda like Snowflakes we are.

All I know is this... If you put 25 people in a room and make them work together toward a common goal. There will be moments when they don't sing songs together. Sometimes extended moments but I would only worry about it... if... one of the 25 wouldn't bother to pick up a bucket of water if one of the other 25's house was on fire.

I remember a good friend of mine getting in my face and screaming at me because I told him "It's Ok"  after he struck out.

It was my fault... I took responsibility for his strikeout later and it's all good now.

Dinger, you're way off! Your metrical analysis is horrible.

Just kidding, the Royals are a real TEAM.

Minnesota State High School math. It's never come in handy before. Why should it now?
