It's the 1st place Royals... It's a 4 game series. So it's OK to be greedy and hope for the sweep.

Dorothy once said... Toto... I have a feeling we are not in Kansas anymore. Toto once said... Hold the Line... Love isn't always on time... and Kansas once said... Carry on my Wayward Son... There'll be peace when you are done.

These games will be played in Missouri and I can't tie that together with anything.

Here are some things to think about:

1. The Royals -- Playing the division leaders can be seen as bad news... but it's not really... unless we get swept... then it's really bad news. But... playing the division leaders is the tonic a team stumbling ever so downward needs. If we can sweep the Royals... We can make up ground like a cheetah chasing a flag pole. Yeah... I said Flag Pole... because a Flag Pole just sits there and it's 4th of July weekend... And if we swept the Royals... they would just sit there like a flag pole... So that's why I chose a flag pole over an animal that might run away.

2. Kansas City -- It was Wilbert Harrison who sang... Going to Kansas City... Kansas City here I come. Why was Wilbert going to Kansas City? It's because they got a crazy way of loving and he's going to him some. All the action happens at 12th Street and Vine according to the song. Well... the city has been rezoned or restructured or re-streeted or re-whatevered and 12th Street and Vine no longer exists. The location to placate tourists in search of 12th street and Vine and that crazy way of loving... Is actually a street sign in the middle of park not near any intersection of roads. So what about that crazy way of loving... Well... They cover you in Barbecue Sauce... It isn't that unique... That stuff happens all the time where I come from.

3. Miguel Sano -- Lots of TD'ers will be watching tonight because it's the debut of Mr. Sano. I hope I'm not heaping too much pressure on him... but... if he fails... we will fail... No pressure at all... So... Relax Miguel have a good time... The entire season rests on your shoulders. OK... Ok... Sano is probably only going to be up for a little while and then he will be sent down. But... Yeah... we really need Sano to be what the scouting reports say he could be. A Flat out Bomber who can bomb. We need that big bat to hit in the 4 hole... I don't think the Twins are going to trade for Nelson Cruz so Sano becomes the hope. No Pressure at all... Here's to hoping that Sano... Hits and Hits big and sticks around.

4. Ervin Santana -- We get the debut of Sano and then the debut of Santana. Both names start with SAN... so the debut of Santa Claus should be the following day. Ervin is most likely our Mid-Season Christmas gift. He's been sitting because of performance enhancement. Here's to hoping that the combination of a whole lotta rest and performance enhancement leads to Ervin Santana being the freshest arm in history. It won't be long and we will see how Molitor and Ryan deal with this addition. May seems to be the logical choice to be taken out of the lineup but the possibility of a 6 man rotation does exist. This good problem to have of too many SP's is only temporary because someone will get hurt... It always happens.

5. 4th of July -- It's our annual celebration of America on Saturday.Every year we celebrate with random people blowing off their fingers. Here's a tip for you all... If you buy a fifth on the third... you're all set for the 4th.

I'm a musical fan so:

I got to Kansas City on a Friday,

By Saturday I learned a thing or two.

For up to then I didn't have an idee

of what the modern world was coming to.

(And even though this was set about 100 years ago and he was astounded by the gas buggies, Bell Telephone and walking to privies in the rain without ever wetting your feet, I bet this country girl could learn more than a thing or two about the modern world even now!)

Time to declare independence from losing to the Royals in their own palace.

One of my favorite musicals -- I'll be watching this weekend!

My name is Richard Henry Lee.  Virginia is my home ...

And may my horses turn to glue if I can't deliver unto you a resolution on Independency.

Sano hasn't played since Monday, light rain falling in KC. Will he get to take BP on the field?

Do we have a weather forecast to go with the lineups?

From Baseball Press:

Gametime Forecast: 74°F • Mostly Cloudy • 0% PoP

Similar on The Weather Channel

  76 degrees at 7 p.m.

  70 % humidity

   5%  chance of precip -- rises to 30% by 11 p.m.

A little cooler tomorrow night but predicted to be partly cloudy.

Hope this is one of the few and the last times that Suzuki is batting behind Sano. You can already figure Sano is going to see a lot of junk and bad pitches with the fighting HAKU master of getting beat up by pitches  Kurt Suzuki batting in 7th.

four walks would be an impressive debut for mr. sano.

It will be interesting to see if he keeps that number in the future, and even more interesting to see if Buxton keeps 25. Players don't always keep their first number. Hrbek wore 26 in 1981 before switching to 14 the next year. Justin Morneau wasn't always 33.  ;) He wore 27 his first year.

Buxton has worn 7 through his entire professional career, and I've wondered if the Twins would be allowed to use 07 if that's what Buxton wanted.

I am curious to know if they would let him wear 07 as well.  You have to assume that Joe is probably going to be the last Twin to wear 7.

Is the number someone wears actually that significant? I realize I might be stepping on sacred cowpies here.

Did you not play sports?! It's part of your identity!

"The sixth batter is Sano. The sixth batter is Sano."

Cheetah, fleetest of foot of all animals...

Now i'm wondering what flag is on the pole?

Why stop there? 007 has a certain appeal to it...

That would be way cool, but I'm pretty sure MLB limits jersey numbers to two digits.

Players are creatures of habit and many are superstitious.  I, for one, always wore #6 or #16.  A ridiculous comfort level thing that makes no sense looking back (like many superstitions and beliefs in, and about, the game) but was a thing in my mind in the first half of my life.
