I saw a Twitter post that this team was 3 games ahead of the 2010 team, though that team had a superb 2nd half.

Win 51.

Game #:
2015: 95
2014: 111
2013: 113
2012: 121
2011: 110

Despite losing four in a row (ugh), they're still 15 games ahead of the next-closest squad (2011). That's a testament to just how badly all of those teams collapses the moment the second half of the season started.

The 52nd win will continue this streak. At a glance it appears that three of the previous squads went on 3-6 game losing streaks before picking up that next win.

And after last night's victory, we're 14 games up on the 1927 Yankees. No need to look it up. I did the research.

pfft.  That's not as impressive as it sounds.

Most of those '27 Yankees are pretty far into their "decline phase" by now.

Pretty well puts to rest the concern I had that we were on another 90-loss trajectory.

The Quest for 73!!! As for this thread, the one number in which I will be exceedingly happy is when they hit 73 wins!! I believe that will make the previous four years N/A.

Yep. Past squads start rotating to N/A with the 64th win and they all drop off if the Twins win a 73rd game this season.

Progress. It always takes a while to build.

By comparison, here's the recent history of the KC Royals to get to 61 wins. Six years in the doldrums, followed by a good year, then a WS run, to now:

2015 -  99

2014 - 114

2013 - 115

2012 - 135

2011 - 147

2010 - 148

2009 - 149

2008 - 143

2007 - 136

And the Cubbies. Five bad years followed by real progress:

2015 - 109

2014 - 135

2013 - 143

2012 - 162

2011 - 141

2010 - 141

The Twins are next!

Win 63.

Game #:
2015: 124
2014: 149
2013: 143
2012: 152
2011: 162

And that's all she wrote for the 2011 squad.

The 2015 Twins are now a full 19 games ahead of the next closest team of the past four years. In 2013, the Twins went 3-14 over their final 17 games.

Keeping up with this thread has reminded me just how awful these teams were down the stretch. They were all basically unwatchable.

Yeah, when it's put in this context it's unfathomable how any of us even bothered to talk about those teams, let alone watch them.  I'm not sure how I kept my sanity in 2011, Jesus H Christ that year sucked.

I'm not sure how I kept my sanity in 2011

It's not a good sign when one's emotional health is influenced by the performance of a baseball team. And it's not just you. I think all of us here suffer from that condition to some extent.

Twins WILL get to .500.  Absolutely fantastic!

I've never set foot in a casino and I'm not a gambler, other than spending maybe 5 or 10 bucks on lottery tickets when the jackpot gets huge. But if I had been in Vegas last March I WOULD have put money on the over for wins. If memory serves the line was at 70.5.
