youngpadawan Provisional Member Posted March 7, 2015 Author Posted March 7, 2015 will we see Santana play CF during spring training? Has anyone heard anything about that? I'm not overreacting to him having not yet played CF, I'm just curious if Molitor has talked about him getting game in at CF if only for a backup standpoint.
nater79a Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 I understand Pelfrey is going to pitch. Will be interesting to see if he works all his pitches as if he's preparing to be a starter, or if he humps up on his FB and maybe just a secondary pitch as if he's preparing to be a 1-inning reliever. Perhaps it's a bit early to draw any clues from his outing today, but you never know.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 My burning question for the game: Which pitcher will get a pick-off?

I'm a little surprised on Pelfrey, not so much on Meyer.

So grab the popcorn.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Boston just took a lead, eh? Off of Pelfrey, though it involved a fielding error. But he got Pedroia out. First time for everything... At least everything that happens.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 This game is becoming humiliating. Does that make this game thread apt? My apologies... Though a bit of humility probably doesn't hurt... much. Catch ya all in the next thread of games.
formerly33 Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Does that make this game thread apt?Lol, sampleSizeOfOne. But no, that's probably not quite the word I'd use. Boring, perhaps, but that wouldn't be your fault any more than it'd be mine, but not quite humiliating.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 7, 2015 Posted March 7, 2015 Missed the game, I see Hughes gave up 3 hits plus a BB in 1 inning yet surrendered no runs. Fielding heroics, or did Hughes come out for a second inning and have to be lifted with no one retired?

Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Let's just run with this thread for today because yesterday's thread got so few replies.

youngpadawan Provisional Member Posted March 8, 2015 Author Posted March 8, 2015 What is the org. trying to do with Herrmann? Get him a lot of at-bats to see if he can be a backup? Build up stock for tradebait? See if he is worth keeping in the org. at all? I just find his usage thus far (it's very early, I know) very strange. Something I will be paying attention to.
NoCryingInBaseball Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Thanks Brock! Three strike outs by Santana after 2 innings, that's a nice start!

Herrmann is an interesting flex candidate, provided he can hit at all.

jorgenswest Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 The Yankees let Nunez go when they assessed he couldn't play 2B. Minnesota giving him a shot there today. Not impressive on that attempted turn.

Winston Smith Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I like hearing Bruno say we aren't going to give any outs away.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Herrmann is an interesting flex candidate, provided he can hit at all.My idea of "at all" differs if we're talking about a candidate for catcher versus corner outfielder. I assume CF isn't really in the discussion.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 I like hearing Bruno say we aren't going to give any outs away.Limited to when they are at the plate, I guess.
ashbury Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Parmelee caught Hunter's popup near first. Didn't see mention of him in this thread before now, so I'm mentioning him now. Of course, this is the Orioles, so it's old home week afternoon for ex-Twins. Delmon's up to bat as I type this.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted March 8, 2015 Posted March 8, 2015 Uff, Sano's play didn't look nice. He had a nice charge on a bunt earlier, so it weren't all bad...
