The Twins announced that they're ditching their classic white pinstripe home uniforms and replacing them with a new look. Their primary home attire will now be a solid white with gold trim around the classic logo. You can take a peek in this introductory video they posted on their website: http://mlb.com/min/fan_forum/uniform_unveiling.jsp?adbid=531838527093235715&adbpl=tw&adbpr=39397148&partnerId=as_min_20141110_35327027

Thoughts?

From a distance, the red / gold combo around "Twins" looks orange, that's a bit... odd. I do like the new home hat, plus the jersey has a Minnie & Paul patch, which makes it okay by my standards.

Looks like butt. I think what's really getting me is that there's no number on the front. Makes it look like some kind of cheapo shirsey.

I actually like it, after looking at it for a while it's grown on me, I like the tri colored stripes on the sleaves, coller, and pants. I'm not a fan of the gold on the hat though, looks too busy

I like the gold shadow and I really like going to navy as the primary color of the script on the front.

I agree with Natron that I'd have preferred to see the front numeral included. Would bet that's a tweak we see soon, maybe as early as next season. (That's kind of what happened with the last major re-design in 1987-88, I think).

Decent looking but the alt home throwbacks are still nicer.

I still like the alternates better as well.

I also agree that the gold on the hats is a little too busy.  Overall, the new jerseys aren't too bad though.  The tri colored strips are a nice accent.

I'm still not buying one though.

Yeah, the gold trim on the hats is a bit much. The smaller logo on the hat doesn't lend well to an outline. Design 101 stuff there.

But I think it looks nice on the uniforms.

Not sure why I always like alternates better, but that's still the case here.  I have always liked the spring training/alternate look with the blue.  And I know there's nothing more controversial than the throwback powder blues, but I really like them.

I won't mind the new uniforms too much; I guess the gold does give it some "pop."

It's okay.  I think the gold 'shadow' gives the lettering depth so it pops a little more.  But I wish the blue and the red were just a tad more ... vibrant.

I'd like a "Kasota Gold" home jersey (instead of white) so the outfielders could camouflage themselves against the wall in Right Field. . .

"Arcia, out of nowhere with the grab!"

might help the reputation of the home nine's defense!

It's alright... I'm hopeful that the gold becomes more prominent over time.

The gold is a color the Twins could own.

In the end... I'd like a color the Twins could own.

Blue and Red are already out there.

Hmm, they should just go rainbow and every player could choose their own color, like the suit thing they players did last year.

I'd need a visual... Maybe one of our talented TD members could create a rainbow jersey for an example?

I'm trying to decide if they remind me more of what orderlies in a mental hospital wear or what you'd see at a Klan picnic.

I'm also tying to figure out St. Peter's thought process behind his quote:

"The Twins have a proud tradition and believe the team's uniforms have long been among the best in baseball. We are excited to introduce a new contemporary primary home uniform which evolves our brand via the introduction of a gold accent color representative of our home state, as well as our home ballpark."

The team's old uniform was among the best in baseball, thus we have decided to change it!

No, not a rainbow on each uniform ... but each player represent the color of a rainbow. :)

... but each player represent the color of a rainbow. :)

Pretty sure those are the lyrics to one of the songs sung by a supergroup of muscians in the 80's to promote some kind of world-wide cause.

"Dave St Peter's thought process is he hopes the new uniform change spurs more caps and jersey sales, the rest of the nonsense in that quote is just marketing bafoonery and added filler crapola." In other words our brand was a bit stale but we hope these gold accented striping and getting rid of the pinstripes is enough of a difference that people will shell out new dough for new duds.

What St. Peter said:

"The Twins have a proud tradition and believe the team's uniforms have long been among the best in baseball. We are excited to introduce a new contemporary primary home uniform which evolves our brand via the introduction of a gold accent color representative of our home state, as well as our home ballpark."

What he should have said:

"Hey, check out these new uniforms."

What would have been more entertaining for him to say:

"Getting new uniforms was the fans fault.  They didn't buy enough season tickets and we had to look for another revenue stream."

Or

"Check out these lovely new uniforms. Payroll won't increase so we have to distract you with these.  What was that Jim?  I've been told to tell you to forget that I said that last part and that there would be no limit on payroll just as there is no limit to the number of these fine jerseys you can buy.

Joking aside, I did apprecieate him taking time to talk to TD.

I'll have to get a red one (or is that magenta?)

I'm glad they already have them in my size.

This is really the same as hiring Molitor....something familiar but slightly different. A classic "low risk - low reward" Twins move. It won't offend hardly anyone, and they will sell a little more product than they would have otherwise. But it is not a big enough change to really feel meaningful or have any actual impact.

The gold piping makes no sense to me. It isn't like they are defending a title, or even celebrating their 50th season.
