Per colleague @1500ESPN_Reusse: Molitor, as expected, will be the choice of the #MNTwins. Sort of figured news would leak this weekend.

Sigh ... my least favorite candidate,  Why did we even go through this charade?

Why did we even go through this charade?

Right. They waited  weeks to fake-interview people to somehow win your goodwill through a charade of a managerial search.  Just because they ended up with the person you didn't like or who was the favorite ahead of time doesn't mean their search wasn't serious or genuine.  It's fine you think what you think, but the facts hardly fit the boldness of your claim.

In the immortal words of Tyga "Hi - I am looking for Molly

I've been searchin' everywhere and I can't seem to find...

Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly

Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly, Molly"

Let alone the accuracy of it.

Well, if he's the guy then he is who I am pulling for to do a great job.

No reason to expect Molly to be just like (insert any manager name here). It will be fun to see what he brings to the table.

I'm not saying they fake interviewed people.  I'm flat out saying that this was Jim Pohlad's choice and he wasn't going to be swayed.  I first got a bad feeling about this a couple of weeks ago when I saw the story about Molitor's and Pohlad's daughters being in business together.  Then later I read a story referring to Molitor as one of Pohlad;s closest friends,

I suspect that this was Pohlad's preference last winter but Ryan prevailed upon him to give Gardy another chance.

This speaks volumes about whether we'll ever see real change in this organization as long as the current owners are in place,

If this is true I'm happy. I think Molitors style of baseball fits well with how Ryan builds teams.

Molitor's style of baseball fits well with ****ty pitching staffs? That's a relief!

I know we all pick our favorites of the day, but Molitor is a solid choice. He's put in his time. He has the credentials. He will do well. He has the respect of the majors and minor leaguers. He is very credible. He has a very high baseball IQ. This is a good choice for the future of the Twins. He has earned this.

I fully believe that Mr. Ryan put in his due diligence and picked the guy he felt was the best. Nothing sinister about this.

Yeah I don't really buy that the replacement search was fair or honest. The wheels were set in motion last offseason when Gardy was extended two years and Molitor was brought on as successor / bench coach. That said, I am pretty stoked about Molitor. A case of crummy process, good result IMO.

I wonder what this means for the coaches left blowing in the wind, specifically Steiny, Bruno, and Cuellar.

I am assuming they will get jobs on the staff.  Twins won't go outside the org so Bruno will stay at hitting coach, Cuellar will slide into the pitching coach duties.  Steiny will get bench coach or one of the base coach positions.  Glynn or Dougie will come up from the minors an take either bench coach or a base coach position.  After they are in place we will be told that a long search took place for each of those spots and it just so happened that all the best candidates worked for us already.

If this is Pohlad imposing his will--well "Good".  If he/they don't want to run their enterprise then sell the team and invest your money in something you do care about.  The animals have been running this zoo for awhile, change may improve things.  Or at least I hope so!

Monitor may well turn out to be a fine manager, if he's the choice.

But "put in his time?" "Has the credentials?" "Earned this?"

He's never managed. Anywhere.

To clarify: Molitor deal being finalized. Monday is anticipated but not definite. Mientkiewicz out here; could wind up in Rochester.

As far as theories go, this one isn't that wild.  I think we will get some more evidence when the pitching coach is named (and possibly the rest of the coaching staff too).
