Ricky Nolasco Misses LA

If I was living in L.A. making big Money.

I'm sure I would enjoy the weather and the things to do and hanging with Glunn.

But... I'm sure I would still be capable of tweeting. "I miss North Dakota and Northern Minnesota!!!!!" Because I would miss it.

It wouldn't mean that I hate L.A.

If we flip out over tweets... They will stop tweeting. Contact with players and Genuine thoughts from players will vanish.

We need to stop searching for things to be angry about. Let people be who they be.

At the least, it's pretty tone deaf.  At the worst, we have circumstantial proof of rumors he's not happy in flyover land.

No excuses.  Every one in every job who publicly says (even if he/she does not mean it) that he/she wants to work for a competitor, and their boss finds out, they get fired.

Today the Twins made a move that suggests that there might be some level of accountability in the organization.  After the post-season is done, the Twins should try to trade Nolasco for one of the Dodgers' bad contracts.  I'd love it if they throw in something else (Hicks?) and get someone like Kemp.

Accountability.  You just cannot say that you want to work for the competition and not be held accountable.

I'm sure if he had a good season this year, he'd be plenty happy. I have to believe he's frustrated with his own performance, his injury, and the team's record. It's ok to have those feelings, and I think it's a good thing that it bothers him.

The other stuff (wearing the Dodgers hat at the Wild game, this silly tweet) is tater tots.

Oh - can we call Sano and Vargas 'The Tater Tots' next season? Asking for a friend.

I'm more offended by his lack of capital letters.  How am I supposed to know where your sentences start, Ricky?  He's clearly got punctuation down, but I'd like to see him work on the rest of his mechanics.

We were afforded a social media reminder that Ricky is a professional athlete, not a Rhodes Scholar.

There are basically two schools of thought on this. Both yes, and yes.

I just don't feel like I know anything about Nolasco -- no way to relate to him. Just a player the Twins made a centerpiece last off-season who didn't. bring much to the field and who doesn't seem to bring much off the field.

Hey, the Dodgers are going to the playoffs and you were a Dodger last season, but they didn't want to pay you right out what someone else offered, so you took the money and changed towns.

The way players talk, any would give their right nut to be on a playoff team, and would work for free if they could get that damned ring!

Hey was just making a flipping response. I wish I was a Dodger fan right now, instead of a Twins fan. But I at least have hope, now, for the Twins.

Ricky showed in his last five starts that he can be better than 6-12 and a 5.00+ ERA. He'll do great next year, okay the following. Earn his $12 or so million, which will be a bargain (not quite the bargain of Phil Hughes, but better than the $20+ million of numerous other 17-12 pitchers next year).

Who knows, maybe he is Dodger dollar worthy now and we can trade him for Kemp or Crawford. Of, for sure, flip him next summer when we have 2-3 youngsters knocking on the door who won't have Trevor May growing pains.

I'm sure Ricky will be able to afford and watch the World Series in Dodgerland...if they get there. Otherwise, if they don't, they aren't much better than ... The Twins!

Um, no.  At a couple of places I've worked there would have been 20% staffing if this were true.  And that's despite us having non-guaranteed contracts.

Could you imagine? All the posh Dog Birthday Parties you would attend. That's what they call livin' the good life!

Sorry, I could not help myself. :)

It is the offseason, he's free to go home. He was clearly talking about being with the Dodgers.

It's a silly thing to get too upset about. I'd be lying if I said it didn't annoy me, though.

Twitter is one of the dumbest things ever.  I don't have an account and don't follow anyone and never will.

I would disagree. Twitter is probably the greatest social media invention to date and the best overall information invention since the internet.

It's all in how you use it.

tell me what it does that is so great that can't be done other ways.

PS  why are you here then?  you should just get all your info and share your opinions on twitter then.  Oh wait, it sucks for that doesn't it?

Interesting. I was totally on the "not flipping out" side but I'm a convert now. I'm up for anything to rid the world of Twitter.

Nolasco you cowardly traitor! I hope you get one herpe for every dollar you get paid!!!!

Well sure, but it's used correctly what, 5% of the time when someone shares an apple pie recipe? This damn thing isn't a suitable news source, yet that's what lazy journalists use it for now. Of course, since they "legitimize" it as a news source, idiots mistakingly think Ricky Nolasco and pseudo celebrities' inner monologues are news which in turn makes these dim, delusional and self obsessed clowns actually think their opinions on ISIS is news.

Please go away Twitter.

I trust nobody will threaten your puppy to force you to use it.

I'm not an expert on using Twitter, but is the tweet in question still there?  I couldn't find it when I finally got around to looking for it, and it wouldn't surprise me if a trusted advisor told him to withdraw it post haste.

I am so glad Twitter, face book, being able to take pictures from a phone and instantly post it on the internet was not around when I was in my teens and 20s.  I can envision a lot of things would have been posted that probably would have been ill-advised.  You think you are posting something that will just be seen by a couple of people and all of a sudden it is out there for all to see (granted I would not have the twitter following of Nolasco...).

I'll make one comment on this "tempest in a teapot". Big deal! Ricky misses winning baseball. I hope he would. I'm sure he's disappointed in his performance and in the team. He tweeted something rash, much like how excited he was when he signed with the Twins. No one would care much if he finished 12-6 instead of 6-12. I hope a year from now he tweets something rash and no one cares because he won 15 games for the Twins.

FWIW Nolasco is 31, and at age 31 I thought I was pretty grown up. :)

Yeah, me too, but more importantly what did other people think?  In my case, I'm sure opinions were definitely mixed.

Still true today, probably, but at age 53 I'm gradually winning a few people over to my side.
