With the Twins out of the picture, there's not going to be just one team I root for.

I'll root for the Royals until they're bounced, and likely for Orioles to make the WS, but I'd be really happy to see an LA-LA world series. Just don't let the MoTown Cats find success.

In the NL I want the Nationals to win, but I'll root for the Pirates, and pretty much anyone except St. Louis.

I generally root for the team(s) that haven't been there in awhile - So I'm supporting the Nationals, the Royals, the Orioles, and Pittsburgh.

edited to add - would love to see Willingham get some playoff at bats and I am pulling for the Royals to be the unlikely champion this year.

Same here.  Pirates have been my favorite NL team since 1971.  Used to hate the Orioles, but time heals most (1969/70) wounds.  And it's a "banner" year for Baltimore with the War of 1812 commemorations and all.

I'd be happy if either the Royals or the Orioles take the AL title; and either the Pirates or the Nats the NL.  Any combination of those teams in the WS would be good to me.

Billy Beane must be feeling sick right now.  He gave up a lot of minor league talent for one loss and a year of Samardzia.  Gutsy move, but yikes.

Man, that game just made me yearn for the Twins to be in that position again soon.

Although I would have hyperventilated by the 11th.

It had a very game 163 feel to it. I guess technically it was a game 163 - but I agree - very exciting and I hope the Twins are there next year or the year after.

The guts it took for Beane to make those moves. It was pretty clear that he did it for one reason... That was to win this year.

Addison Russell and McKinney to the Cubs... Cespedes for a Rental. Wow... I admire his courage but if I was in his chair... I don't think I could have done it.

But then again... I would have been right this time. Right now... I bet Beane wishes he had Cespedes and Russell back.

I wanted to see Beane get a ring. Well, that's not going to happen (again, what the hell happened to Oakland?).

So I guess I'll move on to Kansas City in the AL and Pittsburgh in the NL.

Derek Norris OPS on July 31 .877, from Aug-1-Sept.28 .596

Brandon Moss OPS on July 31 .842, from Aug.1-Sept.28 .575

John Jaso OPS on July 31 .824, from Aug-1-Aug.23 .450 (concussed, did not play after the 23rd)

Coco Crisp OPS on July 31 .789, from Aug.1-Sept.28 .557

Steven Vogt OPS on July 31 .911, from Aug.1-Sept.28 .549

How does everyone fall off a cliff at the same time? The only guy who stayed consistent was Donaldson.

Go Royals.

Donaldson had a putrid June (.509 OPS) and a bad September (.686), but he was the only one that had normal peaks and valleys in the season rather than absurd peaks through June and then dropped off a table afterward.

They did trade for Lester at the beginning of August. Is it possible he upset the delicate clubhouse vibe? No way of knowing but it does line up timeline wise. He was one of the beer drinking, chicken munching guys in Boston during the Valentine fiasco year, IIRC.

I watch, but I don't really have a favorite.

The postseason is fun because of the dramatics.  You never know how things are going to turn out.  (Unlike, say, the NBA playoffs, which can be exciting, but the results are pretty predictable).

The Tigers and Angels both getting swept?  Hard to see that coming.

Well, the AL held up it's part of the "new blood" bargain - it seems like the national league is going to be more "traditional" and will be spitting out either the Dodgers, Cardinals, or Giants.

Looking forward to the BAL / KC series, that should be fun!

In the NL, anyone but StL and SF.  I'm tired of always seeing those teams.  (OK maybe a tad envious too)

I guess I'll say LA because of the bubble machine.

Now that the ALCS is set, I'm fine with either of those teams.

I was pulling for KC, the Pirates and Nats.  So now, go KC.  Those fans are getting their long wait deserved fun!  Baltimore has had a great season despite problems.  Here's to hope the winner between those two takes it all.

I was totally behind the Royals, maybe because subconsiously I thought they had no chance.

Now with every win, I'm kind of at the point where every Royal related thought that comes into my head also comes with the accompanying depressing thought, "The Royals have won more playoff games than the Twins in the last decade!?" and "The Royals have won more playoff series than he Twins in the last decade!?"

It's going to get dicier if those thoughts become, "The Royals have made it to the WS more recently than the Twins ?!" and "The Royals have WON the WS more recently than the Twins ?!"

Go Royals?
