    Some have listed The Brain's age as 73, others 72. Wikipedia shows shows born November 1, 1944 died Sept. 17, 2017. The New York Times also says 72. The New York Daily News however says 73, as does the Chicago Tribune.

    Was wondering about this one at the time. Barrios, clearly was attempting to sacrifice. However, a brief perusal of the internets seems to show that a SAC cannot be scored unless the batter actually sacrifices himself, ie is out. Because Barrios was safe at first, no SAC. Is this correct?

    On Showtime there is a series called Shameless, which is situated in Chicago. One of the characters is the father to newborn twins. In one episode, he is watching a baseball game on television, and instructs the young ones on the finer points of team loyalty.

    Back when I was in high school (a long, long time ago) I interviewed John Sebastian (not the Lovin' Spoonful John Sebastian, this other guy here, then with KDWB) and he explained to me that music on the radio was intended for people who don't really like music. There are more people who don't (and radio must appeal to a mass audience) and those who do like music, listen to records. If that was true in 1976, today in 2015, with mp3/Pandora/Spotify etc. it is even more true. So I never expect music on the radio to be any good, and if it is, it is a transient exception.

    I support the signing of Mark Buehrle for the most selfish of reasons: he works fast. People still talk about the July 17, 2010 game when he and Carl Pavano finished work in 1 hour 52 minutes. I remember fondly attending a 2:09 game June 16, 2011. When Commissioner Bud Selig was singing his swansong all he could do was bemoan the length of ballgames and interminal pace of play. Right now in the Arizona Fall League, they are experimenting with new rules to speed up ballgames. Pace of play is a threat to the popularity of the game of baseball. Buehrle is the antithesis of slow play. Were any of his habits to rub off on the rest of the staff, it would only be for the good.
