Just posted this in the Mauer thread! I know Mauer isn't a speed guy, but in virtually every other aspect, Joe would be perfect at the leadoff spot for this team. The catcher barrier has been broken -- let's make it happen!

I haven't been able to watch much of the game, but as usual it seems the strike zone is very inconsistent. I've never been a proponent of electronic strike zone, but I may be changing my mind. I watched the inning where Pelfrey struggled on the edge of the zone, walked a few and got out with the score only 1-1. It seemed they were squeezing him. The next inning, the first two pitches to Kubel weren't as good as what Pelfrey threw and both were called strikes. I don't get it. I'd just like to see some consistency.

By the way, Kubel is mashing. If only he could get more than a single on a ball that misses being a homer by about a foot.
