  1. So who cares about a .227 batting average. Buy out his arbitration years.
  2. Is Collabello 2 for his last 20 with 1 RBI? Hope it is just a blip.
  3. He needs to hit higher than .225. On any contending team he would coming in for defensive replacement.
  4. I thought he was going to be a cy young winner in the near future. His sabremetrics was owing to get him to his full potential after his surgery.
  5. Just think if Pelf, Nolasco, and Hughes were performing better.
  6. Why was there too gains over Pelf? Because he had one good season with the Mets? Because he had such great stuff that other pitchers didn't have?
  7. Watching Wacha pitching against the Mets tonight. He has 9 strikeouts through 3 innings.
  8. How's his defense in CF been? He should be getting to more balls than anyone else.
  9. It's early but it seems that if the Twins would have signed other FA pitchers they would be a lot better than .500.
  10. There are many meaningless games at the end of the season. Many times the second place team is playing good teams at the end of the season while the 1st place team is not. This way any 1st place team with 4 or less game lead with 8 games to go must win 3 or 4 games to win division title. These series will generate more television revenue in prime time instead of the series where the 1st place team has run away with the division. Ticket prices for these games will be priced higher as well. So out of 15 series there will 6 where the 1st place team plays the second place team and the series where the 3rd place teams play each other in inter league series some of those teams have a chance of winning the wild card or in close pennant races the division title.
  11. There would be way more pluses than minuses. Remember playing for home field advantage in the playoffs is important as well. This may create more division ties requiring a game 163 which is lucrative for the owners. And if there is a chance that the 3 rd place team could eke out a division title or wildcard it isn't like that doesn't happen now with 8 games to go in the season. Also, unless you think your team has no chance at all during the regular season tickets for the final 8 games should sell better than they do now. Most clubs have fan appreciation on the last day of the season giving you a free ticket for the next season. If your team has clinched a playoff spot x number of games before the season end many fans look forward to the playoffs and not the last few meaningless games of the season.
  12. Bad teams should have no chance of winning the league championship or WS. My proposed 8 games at the end of the regular ensures that tight pennant races will be played against your opponent you are chasing, tied with, or slightly behind you in the standings.
  13. The 8 games at end of the season will be participated by every team, but, seats are sold before the season starts. The best 2 teams play each other in each division and there is bound to be some real good series. Times of the games are determined on how close the division races are for television. It is possible that a 3rd place team ends up winning the division or the wild card so those games could be meaningful. Since these tickets are for sale before the season starts and you think your team is likely to play significant games in October these games will sell more tickets. It is likely that a first place team will face a second place team in the same division in the second round of the playoffs. Where you are at game 154 in the standings is important so it may seem to many that there are 2 endings to the regular season. Games 155-162 are part of the regular season stats, but stats would be published/kept for those 8 games. The divisions that are tight at game 154 will have epic 8 game series to see who will make the playoffs. A manager will have to plan his pitching rotation for the last 8 games. A team up by 4 games will still need to win 3 of the final 8 games in order to win the division outright. A team up by 6 games will need to win at least 2 games out of 8 against the 2nd place club or have a possible one game playoff. Every year there will be 6 divisions in which the 1st place team is playing the 2nd place team at the of the regular season which does not happen now. And some of the 3rd place series might be significant in the years where the 3rd place team is only a couple of games out of the division or wild card spot.
  14. Dozier needs to hit higher than .244 before he gets an extension.
  15. They were .500 after 36 games last year.
  16. Maybe KC you can stay here and open up a classic BBQ place that serves burnt ends.
  17. How about this idea for better pennant races and more revenue at the end of the season? The first place team in each division plays the second place team in that division while the 3rd place team plays the 4th place team and the 5th plays other divisions. Your position would be determined after 154 games. The last 8 games would be played over the last 10 days of the season. 4 home and 4 away and sold as a package at the beginning of the season. If the second place team is 4 games out with 8 games to go if they win 6 out of 8 they tie at the end of the season. The third place team has a shot of making the playoffs so maybe the 3rd place teams play each other and the 4th and 5th place teams play each other. Get rid of the playin game.
  18. If they hadn't been signed just think how bad the pitching would be.
  19. Sam is not going to be starting anytime soon if he keeps issuing walks.
  20. A's love Barton despite his not being able to hit or bat more than 100 times a year.
  21. Turn the game back on and now the Twins are losing 5-1. Pelfrey is headed for 15 or more losses if he keeps pitching this way.
  22. Hopefully, Pelfrey can pitch with runners on. Good first inning. Nice HR Dozier.
  23. Need a grand slam. Walk off GS will be a moment in Twins history
