  1. I’m not disappointed that we didn’t get Bumgarner and won’t be if we don’t get Ryu simply because I don’t think they are that good anymore. We do need another pitcher so the onus is on Falvine to get it done a different way
  2. I don’t think you “get” an ace other than the Yankees buying one. I think you have to add as much pitching talent as possible and hope an ace emerges
  3. This. I hope this is the path they take. Forget about third baseman
  4. I would do that deal in a heartbeat which means it ain’t happening
  5. If you aren’t signing a good starter trade for a good SS and skip this fascination with 3rd base a much lesser important defensive position
  6. Castro is really overrated defensively. He should send a lot of money to whoever made pitch framing a thing because that is his only plus. He doesn’t throw well and is poor blocking balls which I consider just as impactful as framing
  7. I see lots of concern about the mileage on Bumgartners arm. That’s called durability and is a great trait for a free agent pitcher
  8. Not in1.5 million years. If you want to improve infield defense get a real SS and let Polanco play second
  9. This, a hundred times this. We could write an equally unbalanced article making the FO look completely incompetent. I hope TD doesn’t lose its objectivity because there have been a couple of doozies lately
  10. Thanks for the article. I got a good chuckle out of it.
  11. Probably right. Part of this stems from the fact that I don’t want to count on Arreaz duplicating his rookie year
  12. I’ve always been a proponent of having Polanco play second. He would be an above average fielder and we keep the bat. Sign Iglesias for a year or two and you are now above average up the middle. Arreaz gets his at bats by playing multiple positions. He’s not great defensively so if he doesn’t hit at an above average level then he doesn’t have much value
  13. I believe it’s about location and the league catching up with him
  14. I saw an interesting theory posed and I can’t remember where. Had to be TD because that’s where I get my info. Anyway the idea is to approach all the arb eligible guys with fair extension offers. If they don’t take them trade them with team control when they have their highest value. Probably makes sense for Sano Rosario and Buxton
  15. 2020 will be very interesting as the league will surely make adjustments. I believe Arreaz can as well. My biggest concern is that his defense is sub par which would be easier to take if we had a strong SS
  16. Ummm...no. As in hell no-it would be a complete waste of resources. Not an enlightened proposition
  17. Not a huge fan of this move but maybe they think he can have a Duffey like resurgence if he ditches the sinker and goes four seam up in the zone
  18. I would give up any prospects for Paddack except Graterol. This includes Lewis and Kirilloff
  19. Yes. He’s already had multiple concussions and a move to first will allow him to get 500 plus at bats. This will never happen behind the plate
  20. He has ace stuff but not ace command. If he improves his control he can be one of the best pitchers in baseball
  21. This. If he can’t stick at short his prospect value halves. If your assessment tells you he isn’t likely to stay at short trade him immediately for the best pitching deal you can get
  22. I was going to post this a while back but Souhan beat me to it. I find it interesting that the current FO and Ryan are pretty similar in their core values of highly valuing prospects and avoiding costly free agents. Of course they are very different in how they arrive at their decisions
  23. I hope he has great success for the Twins. I will be very happy if you are able to write something similar next year at this time
  24. They have to start him and I would keep him in the big leagues. 30 starts of 4 innings is 120 innings. Maybe Smeltzer is his piggyback. Complete opposite
  25. Defense matters. The whole infield is sub par including Sano. I wanted a strong SS with Polanco moving to second. That would have made a considerable difference. I don’t know what you do with Arreaz. His bat is great but in the field not so much
