  1. I think this feels right - Celistino would benefit from a year at AAA to learn how to hit and with Taylor only having a year left on the contract that seems like a good direction to go. Still would prefer anybody from the minors instead of Pagan - but it appears that unless he implodes during spring training, he is going to have to cost us some games (again) that count before hopefully moving on from him sooner rather than later.
  2. I believe that in current age baseball - it puts your team at a disadvantage to have a full time DH (like Cruz) who cannot field a position. Kind of like in football where your long snapper ONLY long snaps, can't they make the normal center learn how to do this? Put in your bench player who has the best matchup be your DH for each game. When you want to keep as many pitchers on the active roster as the Twins like to do - can't have someone taking up a bench spot only to hit-IMO.
  3. Good trade - would have been even better if we would have thrown Pagan as well if we really wanted to make our team better.
  4. Starting as early as next year I would love to have this infield: Lee and 3rd, C4 at SS, Lewis at 2nd, and then either AK against righties, or Miranda against lefties. Could solidify the infield for the next half decade and free us up to trade Polanco while still has a plus value contract for pitching.
  5. I think having both Farmer (right), and Gordon (left) being in super utility roles that can play anywhere on the field to be a great way to give depth in every position. That Farmer can even catch is just icing on the cake. Allows us to have 1 more bench player who can focus on either being an OF or IF specialist.
  6. Arraez is not a first baseman either. Sure - he plays there most of the time, but he's a DH with those knees. Any of the other infielders can play DH or 1B. Arraez however, cannot pitch and that is what we need.
  7. Perhaps unproven depth. But we do have Polanco, Farmer, and Gordon on the active roster with Lee and Lewis ready to come on board at some point this year. All of them are better in the field at several positions compared to Arraez.
  8. I fully agree with your thoughts. Its not a popular opinion to trade someone like him, but I think he's hit his peak value and plays a position we have depth at. We need pitching and despite him being only 25, he won't age well due to his knees.
  9. I would expect we don't see the finished product just yet. I'm sure the coaches have been having him try new things to see what works best for him. When you're trying things you are either not familiar with, or that don't feel natural to you due to lack of reps - you won't get great results. Hopefully this year they can use what they learned last year that works, and feels good to him and let them play out to get a real feel for where he is at.
  10. I could look - but maybe you already know.... Are there any young right handed players nearly ready in our system?
  11. I think it is obvious that it is unsettled. Other than Celistino, who should be in AAA, we have no other right handed bats do we (not counting Buxton).
  12. I'm with you. As a fan this really irritates me. I get his, the analytics show he has stuff - but look at the results. Let it go - I'd be happy with literally nothing in return for him if they would just let him go. Ugh!! What a waste of a roster spot and we are a worse team for having him on it. I'd rather have Austdillo as a pitcher.
  13. Are they really still planning on keeping Pagan in our pen??!! Lets move him for literally anything. Don't want to waste CC or Buxton, or any other lead we ever have to let him give it up again.
  14. One player - even one as good as CC does not make a team as we found out in 2022. BUT - the health Gods have to be on our side this year don't they? After last year being the experiment of getting injured to possibly never return - it HAS to be better right? A nice blend of vets and young guys sound like a way to win if we can stay healthy. BUT - we still have about $15M more to spend right? A right handed OF bat would be great. Anyone looking for a corner left hand bat we can trade for a right hand bat perhaps? Give them Kepler and get someone who can be the next Garlick at a higher level.
  15. I would expect this or perhaps put Polonco on the trade block and put someone into the 2nd base role between Brooks, Lewis or Martin.
  16. Am I understanding this correctly? We get CC for the next 6 years (his prime age) at $33.34M per year, and then can keep him longer at a lower rate if he hits a certain number of plate appearances? How is this not a great deal for us??!! This sounds like an outstanding deal for the future of the Twins. Not only what he provides on the field, but what he provides in clubhouse leadership. Allows Farmer to be our infield utility role (plus super utility Gordon who can play OF), don't have to rush Lewis back - win/win. Lets keep this train going. What am I missing that any fans might not love this? Sure injury history, but really have any players made it this far into their careers without any injury concerns?
  17. Nope - would prefer to go with our younger guys and anyone we can get for Kepler and hopefully Pagan. No spot for either of them once picked up Gallo and saw what Pagan can do in the pen last year.
  18. Does Garlick still have options? If so - why not take a chance to see if he bounces back? My only request is if he starts off slow - don't be afraid to pull the plug on him and move on before June.
  19. I, for one, do not want to give up on Martin yet. He has been highly touted most of his career as someone who can be an impact player. While yes, he has not yet met those high expectations - he also is still young. Sounds a lot like Gordon who we were pretty happy to have last year.
  20. No way am I trading anyone with starter potential for someone slightly better than Garlick.
  21. Its just amazing the player Buxton can be when healthy! That game winner against Chicago was very memorable. I know the 'if he's healthy' may always apply to him - but to have the speed in the field, the hustle to beat our infield singles, and the power he shows in these clips demonstrate why he's well worth his salary even if he only plays 2/3 of the year.
  22. Free agent contracts are stupid this year - long and expensive. I think this Twins F.O. is going to have to change their way of thinking or we might be left in the cold frequently by sitting and waiting things out.
  23. IF our season starts off rough quickly (like we did in 2021) I think we should move this direction quickly. Trade people like Gallo if can get anything for them and let the youth learn at this level. Might not get many wins, but might also be fun to watch the guys we've been hearing about for years show their stuff and grow.
  24. Bullpen help. We have depth at starters, but even if we signed a true number 1 starter - the analytics this FO operate by suggest they would often not pitch past 5 innings. Spend some money on the BP to replace Pagan, Megill, Sands, and Moran. Last year we had a BP full of 1-inning guys - nows the time to address that and get a stacked set up back-ups who can pitch 600 innings.
  25. Boris's rush to get this done tells me there may be something legit to the physical the Giants gave him. Otherwise he would have taken his normal time to get CC back to that $350M figure he sought.
