  1. Simply meaning that because of so many left handed corner outfielders in our system - Larnach may indeed get traded. But - I also feel that when all is said and done, Larnach will have a better MLB career than Gordon - maybe just not with the Twins.
  2. I agree partly with your comments - it is a no brainer that Trevor should go down, but only because he does have options left and Gordon can play a bigger variety of positions. I feel pretty strongly that if we didn't have a ton of left handed bats in the system - Larnach is going to have a better long term career than Gordon. But you're right, for the time being need to keep Gordon's ability to play multiple positions and hope he hits his way out of this slump. Its only a matter of time before Larnach is back due to a different injury.
  3. When did they 'promise' to be more aggressive? As others have stated, you have to have the players to be aggressive with. Do you even WANT to be aggressive with players like Buxton (injury), Gordon (never on base so far), or Kepler (inablity to get on base).
  4. You're right in your comment - but today Taylor is nearly as good in CF, and a better hitter so far this year.... So..yeah. Sure long term Buxton will be better....he has to be, and Taylor will cool off and come back to his career average numbers, but for the time being - makes no sense that putting Buxton in CF will do anything to improve our hitting because we have no bench players who would go into the DH spot that are hitting better than today's version of Taylor.
  5. Does Moran remind anybody else of Pagan where I'm worried that as good as his stuff looks analytic wise - it just doesn't pass the real life game test? Hope we don't keep throwing him out there like they have done with other relief pitchers who can't generate results.
  6. I think it will be Castro before Gordon as Gordon doesn't have any options left while Castro does.
  7. Should we be concerned - sure. But - so far we've been able to take advantage of the depth the FO created during the off season and its working out. No team has unlimited depth, so hopefully we'll start getting guys back sooner rather than later. Most concerning for me are the ability for either Polanco or AK to play a significant role this year.
  8. As long as Taylor is healthy, I see no reason to put Buxton there other than a day off for Taylor. Our OF is almost as good, and it keeps Buxton from being in position to get injured as often. His production in the batting order is more important than any slight upgrade he gives us in the field. The only thing I don't like about that idea means that Taylor needs to be in the batting line up as well. I'm pretty sure this will work itself out without any decisions needing to be made - people always get injured, and thats when he'll start playing in the field more often. I have no problems at all with the plan they are taking at the moment. It was time to try something new because just putting him out there has always resulted in injury - why would that change?
  9. I'm a bigger Kepler fan than most but wouldn't be sad if Wallner plays so great Kepler goes into a reserve role.
  10. 39 arms used last year - yikes! Wonder what the record for any MLB team is in a season.
  11. Glad to see Joey catch a couple! Sorry to see Pagan appears to be the same Pagan we thought he was, even in low leverage this time 🤐
  12. I understand your gripe about not wanting to have Lopez pulled after 85, but he's still working up to a full load. I'm not going to complain about that on opening day. I gotta also say however - I don't give 2 turds about how many innings pitchers go if we get wins. Starters go only 2 innings and we win - I'll be happy, Starters go 9 innings I'll be happy. The days of full game shut outs however are basically almost over. However- gotta have a good pen if they're going to be asked to pitch much, something we didn't have last year.
  13. Sounds like fate for Jorel Ortega - Welcome to the Twins - go out there and play....and get injured. Good grief! I'm intrigued by Cory Lewis - Don't knuckleball pitchers normally throw a 4-seam that hits about 80mph? Would be pretty cool to see him toss in the mid-90's one pitch and then a floater the moves all over the place on the following pitch.
  14. Agreed - but does he have any power in regards to who he has on his team? Rocco is the one oftentimes blamed (fair or not) when he sends Pagan out there. Could Rocco simply tell the F.O. that Pagan isn't making this team out of spring training, or would they laugh at him? To be responsible for a player you don't want on the team isn't fair - not saying Rocco feels that way. Just hope he is only used in blow outs at this point.
  15. This is perfectly said. Who cares if his stuff 'shouldn't get hit' - results are all that matters. I can't be confident in the pen if he's on it - period.
  16. Let the best pitchers make the opening day roster - If that means having a 6 man rotation, so be it. I can't imagine having 6 healthy pitchers for very long, so why not start with 6 and then have 5 before long? 7 relievers is enough.
  17. Can't get too critical of the f.o. on the potential talent we have in the OF this year. We know Bux could miss some time - much better plan this year than in the past! Excited to see how good we'll be - shouldn't be too many fly balls landing out there!
  18. Agreed - that article got me a lot more optimistic about Gallo after how Popkin worked with C4 last year. If he plays lights out and goes elsewhere next year so be it - I'll take one dynamite year out of him!
  19. My guess would be that other than Mahle, they really don't want to have to extend them because their young drafted guys are pitching so well and are ready for larger roles in 2024. That would be great, but I would be ok with also extending Gray if he can stay healthy this year, for at least 2 more years.
  20. Great opportunity to see what these coaches can do with young talent - I'm sure he wants to excel and be a great, long term solution at the hot corner. Lets mold him into someone who can consistently make plays like the one in the highlight reel shown in the article. Not all stars start out that way, some are made.
  21. Would love to see Dobnak in this role - no matter who it is, we can't have a pen full of 1 inning relievers again this year to prevent someone like Pagan being in a high leverage spot because everyone else is used up.
  22. In order to trade him at the end of this season - I believe that means we would have to first pick up his option. If we wanted to ensure ourselves something for him, we would have to trade him by the deadline this year, or be open to keeping him on the team next year if we did pick up that option.
  23. Sounds like it might be time to invest some higher draft capital in the backstop position - won't help now, but maybe a stud could be nearly ready by time Vasquez contract ends if we're super lucky. Still hope Jeffers turns it around, but can't bank on it.
  24. Found it - Thanks so much, I"ll take this with me!
