I think we have demonstrated the ability to work deep into counts when our mindset is right. Swing at strikes - don't chase pitches (especially high ones) and we'll be fine. Unfortunately I'm sure I'm not the first person to tell our batters that, so I don't have high hopes. We have the pitchers to get us on a run if they stay hot and can avoid 1 bad inning here or there. We'll be going against the best pitchers and best hitters in the world - hopefully we can be patient on both fronts and not rush/make mistakes.

Twins Go Two Days Without an Injury
farmerguychris replied to RandBalls Stu's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They really need one of those "We have worked ______ days since our last work place accident" signs near the clubhouse entrance. -
How Much Should the Twins Play Carlos Correa?

Point for you. Better answer. -
How Much Should the Twins Play Carlos Correa?
farmerguychris replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ask Carlos what he feels will be best for his body to heal up a bit, yet also considering his ability to still be sharp for the post season. -
Looks like may be one of those rare win/win trades. I do think we'll be better off in the long term due to Arraez's knees, but pitchers can miss a year more frequently at any time. So far so good for both teams.

What Should the Twins Do with Trevor Larnach?
farmerguychris replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think we have another year before we HAVE to have this discussion. If he has an option left, I think we'll be happy to have the depth for 2024 in case of injuries. If we prove healthy enough to not need him, then trade for pitching. Seems pretty simple to me.- 78 replies

I'd be content with just one playoff win. (come on, its been what - 18 games?) I'd be happy winning a series. I'd be thrilled with anything beyond that. Looking very much forward to the post season!

If the twins win the world series this year...
farmerguychris replied to Obsvr's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
1- If our pitching and our hitting all get hot at the same time 2- We stay healthy 3- Other contenders have injuries -
Could Ohtani UCL open the door for the Twins?
farmerguychris commented on Doc Munson's blog entry in Fantasy GM
Its fun to think about, but it would eat up too much of our budget. Like they've demonstrated in LA - one, or even two (Trout) superstars do not make a winning team. Hopefully someone like the Yankees or Houston (even if prefer he goes to the NL) sign him to eat up a big chunk of their salary space. -
Have Buxton on my fantasy team, and I hate this idea but considering cutting him for the rest of the year. Just not getting the production I want out of him, but don't want someone else to beat me with him if he gets hot.

Lets get thru both of these Cleveland series and then if we are still holding our own and our September call ups are here, I'd be ok with it. Just not yet.

I think we set our pen up to fail when we intentionally didn't do anything before the season even started. I actually (in hindsight) feel better about doing nothing this year than losing who we did last year. I think very few of us feel good about a long post season run in 2023 - might as well keep our mediocre farm system as it is instead of investing in expiring contracts that would also not likely put us in any better shape to be true contenders - while our prospects may be able to do that at some point in the future.

Well said - A tiny cynical part of me is glad they extended Rocco just so I can see people groan and complain without having any data to back up their claims (example - he pulls his pitchers too early when our starters lead the entire league in average innings pitched).

Agreed. The idea that it was this awful idea to pull Ober is dumb. The guy has never pitched close to this many innings in his career, and is obviously struggling as of late based on the significant increase in HR given up per innings pitched. Yet people want to keep sending him out there when we had a pen which should have been able to hold the lead like they're paid to do. If the pen was able to hold the lead would people still be complaining? Probably not. Was nice to see Julien playing 1st, and while I hope we don't have to put him into that 1B/DH category that we seem to have an excessive number of players in - if it keeps his bat in the line up, great!

Is It Time to Worry About Jhoan Duran?
farmerguychris replied to Matthew Taylor's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Would love to see if he can develop a slider this offseason. With the Front Office love affair with that particular pitch, would only imagine it would greatly add to his options, even if only threw it a few times a game. -

Sure - the more positions they can play the better for us and less often we need to have Gallo at 1st. Give it a try now when the stakes are high, but not playoff high, to see if he can handle it.

Where Do the Twins Fit All of the Youth
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Maybe just activate Buxton and put him in CF. If the wheels fall off, then they fall off and you put in on IL until he can play the field again? Putting him at DH isn't working and he's making too much to just sit on IL so more productive players can play. Still can DFA Gallo and I'm sure we can find someone else struggling to open another roster spot - its not like we're scoring too many runs per game.- 76 replies

I would like to see some other statistics that tell us how good he is defensively at 2B. He's improving and we obviously need his bat in the lineup - but exactly how bad is he, and how much is his D improving as the season moves on? Would love to keep him at 2B long term because we have enough depth now and in the future already for DH and 1B.

farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Get rid of Gallo now. It just makes no sense to keep him on the roster when others are being more productive. I liked the idea of signing him - it just didn't work out and now he's hurting the team. Good luck to him someplace else next year. That will allow us to bring Lewis up.- 76 replies

Lee and Lewis: Superstar Paths Cross in St. Paul
farmerguychris replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I think we have some great future talent in the field coming in the next 2-3 years. BUT, will we be able to have any pitching by then? Maybe continue to draft bats and trade for pitchers? The future looks bright!
