  1. Same story different day. When is the F.O. going to give Rocco some help in the pen? Do they think it is going improve on its own?
  2. Love having Cruz with us in the past, but unless he can now suddenly pitch, we're not a good fit. Like all teams - we have limited trade assets, I'd prefer to use those assets to acquire pitching, not hitters - we have those.
  3. Hopefully we get some new bullpen arms before this post blows completely up so we can talk about the new guys. Can't get them here fast enough. Can't fairly blame Rocco as he can only put out there who the FO puts in his pen. But, something needs to change.
  4. Lets draft them and throw them in the MLB pen right away. Can't do worse than what we got can they?
  5. Time to see if some our our young pitchers are ready to make an impact in relief. Can't be worse than Pagan or Duffy. I can't blame Rocco for this - he can only send out there who is in his pen. If a game drags on, options become more and more limited. Nice to see him using Duran for 2, I wouldn't have sent him out for a third inning either.
  6. I completely agree! But as we know, contracts don't really appear to mean much in pro sports.
  7. Of course I'd love to have a star like Correa on our team for years to come. But with that said - at what cost would it come to our potential success? Fact is - we operate on a budget - like it or not. Do you like the current pitching situation? What we have on the mound is likely what we will be able to afford going forward if we have 30-40M invested in one positional player annually. Only possible way to change the mediocrity of our pitching would be to develop a star from our prospects and even then the likelihood of extending them if they become a star is drastically reduced by the large amount committed to CC. Lets absolutely enjoy him while he's here. I pray he stays at least one more year so Lewis can get healthy, but after that I think we have 2 choices. We can sign someone like CC to be our star, OR we can truly try to compete for a championship. I don't think we can have both with this ownership group who exercises their right to have follow a reasonable budget the past few years.
  8. The game evolves quickly. In 2019 the balls traveled well making stealing of bases more risky in terms of ROI. However with fewer HR in 2022, the ability to work counts to take walks, and the stealing of bases has likely increased. However, our top base stealer (Buxton) also risks injury every time he attempts to swap a bag. Don't like seeing us last in stolen bases, and would prefer to be closer to middle of the pack so opposing pitchers and catchers had to at least worry about us trying to steal one.
  9. Package Kepler and Sano together and see if it brings anything back? I wouldn't expect much, but its worth the F.O. putting it out there.
  10. Find a unique way to extend Correa. Tear up the remaining 2 years of his deal and give him a new one that does even more to get him to stay at least 1 more year. I'm fine with Polacios/Gordon for the backup SS role next year.
  11. I legit feel bad for Duffey, seems like he's as frustrated by it as we are. But- thats the job, and he appears to know it. A reliever life can go by quickly - maybe his time is simply done based on stats the last and this year. Not that I saw any other real good options in our pen at the moment however to take his spot.
  12. This just gave me another indicator that we really need to come up with a plan for the future of our C position. Hoping Jeffers can turn it around, but if he can't DH and he's a No. 2 catcher - what is the plan when Sanchez is a FA after this year? Platoon DH works for me, more roster flexability!
  13. In regards to Kepler's comments that he wishes everyone could be there - THEY COULD HAVE. They simply chose not to. A little less of a Kepler fan now. I do wish they were all there!
  14. I don't think its an intentional experiment. Correa fell into our laps when he didn't get the deal he wanted. Injuries have opened up a place for Arraez to play nearly every day. The only thing that may have been intentional was to let some of our young pitchers get a shot, but even that has been impacted by injuires. Impressed so far- but lets see where we are in 2 months.
  15. I'm hoping they are out there getting 2nd and even 3rd for 4th opinions on his wrist. I'm sure we have great doctors - but sometimes just need something looked at by new eyes. Hopeful he can make a full recovery.
  16. My favorite is from Gio Urshela! Was watching in TV and in a different room and had to head back to make sure I heard what I thought I heard. Great platform.
  17. I love looking at other team's sites during trades like this also. To me this trade seems like both teams can potentially claim a W depending on how the next couple years shake out.
  18. Its a smart long term move. Sorry to see Rogers go, but he had a much better run as a dependable reliever than most as a Twin. Good luck to him.
  19. I don't mind this deal. Good long term plan to trade relievers with only 1 year of team control for a starter with multiple years. Good to replace said reliever (in addition to starter) by trading our 5th OF who would probably been lost for nothing after being DFA'd. Losing Rogers hurts, but we have some potential studs in the pipeline who can be in the pen this year instead of AAA.
  20. Can't sweat it yet. I'm sure we'll have some redundant players in positions of depth that we will swap for new, younger talent that can develop down the road.
  21. I liked Cruz as much as the rest of us, but I gotta agree that I like the flexability we have now where our DH could play in the field as well. Admit I did want to see Nelson play 1B however since he seemed to like it so much.
  22. So I'm normally a couple of days behind on these but like to listen to them in order. Do you think I should listen to this one before the Correa episode via Patreon?
  23. I think this is a great move that I never expected. Story sure - he's a star as well but not at this level. WORST case scenario, we never get any good starts from our still TBD pitching rotation and we flip him for about half a dozen high prospects to a big market team, and by then hopefully Lewis or Martin have proven able to man SS. Very, very exciting time to be a Twins Fan!
  24. HOLY ****. For real???? What a great plan, and even if has opt outs to let us see if Lewis or Martin are our future at that position. This Front Office just earned HUGE credit from me and gained my trust going forward to be able to pull this off.
  25. Its not JUST about his ability to hit. Heck, take that out of the equation. If he's even an average SS hitter, he is also a solid defender in a position of need at an age that he could play out the entire contract (unlike Donaldson). He will make the team better and we can figure out what to do with Lewis and Martin when the time comes. Never balk at adding talent to a position of need.
