    Gotta say, despite missing some routine plays at the hot corner - I like having Gio on this team. He makes some great plays at 3rd, and has multiple important hits for us when its really needed. I think we should seriously consider keeping him by offering arbitration for one more year. Great job of working that count and slapping the ball to keep it in play down the line.

    Fair enough- Which players are you referring to that are not currently on the roster should we replace him with?

    I think we have taken the right approach for the short term - 10 day IL see if anything improves and hope for the best. Isn't a 50% Buxton just as good as a 100% Cave?

    Whats the rush? He's under control for 5 more years right? So let him play this well for another 2 years and then hopefully still want to buy out his arb years plus a couple more. Too early to have this discussion.

    While series wins are nice, we need to see some sweeps against lesser foes like KC to help stay near the lead in the central. Good series win by not giving up any runs after the first inning of game 1 of this set!

    They were both signed to be placeholders for a year while our young talent recovered from injuries and was ready to go hopefully late this, or for next season. With that said, you get what you pay for and these are good examples of that. Not awful, but not very good either. I would not bring either of them back for next year if we can avoid it.

    He's still a rookie - hopefully we can get him coached up and that slider will become a real weapon. If there is anything this pitching coach staff appears to know how to do - it is to maximize a slider's potential as a weapon. I'm not concerned in the long term and hopeful he'll be in the top half of our rotation for at least a few years.

    I'd be ok if Carlos stays to be our SS for 1 more year while Lewis continues to heal. Other than that I want pitching and would love to see Judge go to the NL for someone like the Mets just to drive Yankee fans crazy.

    I really agree with you 100% - I just felt like I might get grief due to being so vocal about him being on our team any longer in the past. It makes NO sense that he's still even an option for Rocco to use.

    I like the pitching chart with Pagan only having 19 pitches in the past 5 games.

    I think the article is spot on. Keep Gray, let the other leave. Sano is obvious at his salary, and how hard is it to get a replacement for a very average Bundy?

    This is the only type of game Pagan should be pitching in. Times when Rocco might consider Gordon instead. Rough game, lets see something better tonight!

    Completely agree. The days of Bert Blyleven are over and not relevant to today's game. Stats show the third time thru the order - pitchers do worse. Why would you intentionally give the other team better odds?

    Sorry - that was supposed to be his last 30 games, not his last 30 days according to what I found on MLB.com.

    I think our weakest area is Pagan. Here are his stats in the last 30 days: 3-4 record with a 6.11 ERA in 28 innings by giving up 31 hits and 7 walks leading to 19 earned runs. You can't keep sending him out there unless up by 4 or more runs. I know we need some 'filler' innings to keep Duran, Lopez, and Fulmer fresh. I just don't think it should include Pagan. Impressed by Sands last game in this role, perhaps give Smeltzer the role of Pagan?

    I think you're giving Pagan too much credit based on his on-field performance this year. Can we just give him away to someone like Cleveland or Chicago for literally nothing in return?

    I'm sorry to see it happen to him, he seems like a good enough guy. But - nothing lasts forever and I wish him well and to hopefully catch on someplace else. Maybe Pagan next?

    Why is Pagan on this team? That is all.

    Why do you wish the starters to go 6-7 innings when there is statistical data which shows that nearly every pitcher in the history of the game have worse stats when facing hitters for the third time in a day. When our BP was awful, it made sense to consider pushing the starters longer, hoping they can be the exception to the 3rd time thru the order historical data. However with an upgraded BP, we should be more confident playing the numbers and having them go thru twice and then turn it over. Numbers don't lie.

    If Royce would have been healthy, I would have wanted to see what we could get in return. But as of now - stand pat with him and hope he even considers staying another year.

    More often than not, I have been good with the moves this FO has made. They acknowledge they need BP arms. I think they'll find some. I just hope that we don't move a potential full time starter for 3 month rental arm. We aren't really in a push for a championship are we? But as it stands now - I'm never comfortable going into the second half of any game without a lead of at least 6+ runs.

    I would have selected option 3 if Royce had stayed healthy and continued to play well. Now, I think we gotta keep him and go for it this year (as long as we invest in our BP). I know unlikely he returns, but until he opts out, I can always hope!
