  1. Triple yawns on this "addition" boring and nothing. The relief pitching bottom of the dumpster purge is going on.
  2. I'm sure the Twins will love him and.use him a lot. He comes cheap.
  3. Provus was excellent on the radio. Gladden is good but Provus makes him better. While the TV broadcasting may be significantly better with Provus I'm afraid it will be to the detriment of the radio broadcast. Provus painted a great picture of the game for fans. Kris Attaberry needs to to done it down a lot. Like a previous person said less can be more. He needs to slow down with all the bantering about past experiences, and mundane stories. When him and Gladden start talking it seems they forget there is a game going on.
  4. OMG. Here it is the first day of a new year and already Twins Daily finds it necessary to bore us with yet another in a series of Buxton promotion articles and Buxton this and Buxton that. I would have loved to see what he could have done had he been healthy. But come on its going on 9 years of potential and what is. I don't wish Byron any more bad luck but the organization has paid him well over 100 million over his career. They've been very fair to him to a point it's hurting the team. Please Twins Daily we surely must have more relevant things to discuss.
  5. Very good article. If the Twins do basically nothing this off season they should still be favored to win the Central. Not that great of an accomplishment but what the heck. I think they were a good but not great team last year. I think they won by beating some very poor teams in our division. There is a lot of wholes on this team and that's before losing up to 8 players in free agency. The payroll reduction is understandable. Signing Correa and especially Buxton to a total of 300 million was not. Now they take up 50 million in payroll each year. Not too much left to pay others and upgrade the roster.
  6. Great article. We'll researched and we'll written. My only point would be that perhaps it's way too early to predict. But we'll thought out and done!! I wish him the best.
  7. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Good grief!! Looks like the dumpster diving for relief pitching is in full swing.
  8. Byron who? Good grief here we go again. Another off season and another round of Buxtons availability to play. And somehow we still get people telling us he's a superstar. Come on. He's only had 1 year of 8 as a full time player.all he has done is live on the disabled list. Yet at 100 million dollars he was signed as a full time contributing player. Buxton has been a bust. Yet here we are talking about his playing time and ability. Through no fault of his own he has become an enigma. It's way past the time to think Buxton can be of help. He's much more of a liability than an asset after 8 seasons.
  9. Very typical twins off season. Wait until the last minute to sign or trade. That way it's usually cheaper but not always. I disagree with those that think this team doesn't have any holes. I believe they have plenty. We lost 2 starting pitchers. We'll 3 counting Mahle. We need at least 2 arms in the bullpen. We have a revolving door at first base with the oft injured kiriloff penciled in. For 8 years they have been banking on Buxton, (who?) To play center field. They even signed the part time player to an 100 million contract. What lunacy. We have question marks still at 3rd and 2nd. Oh I know we can put players there. But does that mean they are good? And the often heralded draft pic for Sonny Gray is a crapshoot. Stats show that most draft pics never make it. This team has a lot to do this winter. They are just waiting for the right time to get it done. At least we hope so.
  10. Always love your videos. Well done in your research. These projections by streamer are so ridiculous much like the new wave emphasis on analytics versus common sense baseball. Should be a combination of both. Payroll may not be about total dollars but how they are allocated. The fact that payroll is being reduced is not surprising. To me it is the terrible planning with regard to payroll management. It wasn't smart then and even less so now to sign Correa and Buxton to 200 and 100 million dollar long term deals. So now you will have approximately 50 million per year in only 2 players. That is poor planning. The bankruptcy of Diamond Sports has been a distinct possibility for two years. Very poor planning. To me the teams with smaller payrolls that win is due to their expertise in signing and drafting and trading for the right players. I don't concede the division to the Twins. The Twins play boring baseball in a boring division. I actually hope the Royals or Tigers get better so as to perhaps make the Twins play even better. I'm not sold on this FO. But I haven't given up on them either. I'm hoping we do even better in 2024. It sounds like we will if we let the spreadsheets play the games. Go Twins!
  11. The 2023 Twins were good and very opportunistic. But the don't belong anywhere near the list of top 10 teams. They were lucky at times and very opportunistic by winning a division that had little competition or desire to win. The team had plenty of holes in the roster and somehow won a title with one of the worst managers in baseball.
  12. My guess is that if twins cannot obtain a decent starter they will then unload both Polanco and Kepler in separate deals for prospects as part of a continued salary dump.
  13. The best thing that could happen to the Twins is fir the Royals and Tigers to keep signing free agent pitching. They need competition.
  14. Baldelli is not much of a manager. Sure his players love him because he doesn't expect or demand much of them. His in game management skills is also nearly non existent. Analytics serve a purpose but Rocco relies on them way too much and many times ignores common sense. His swing for the fences at all costs proved fatal in the playoffs. Best manager in central now is Hinch with the Tigers.
  15. Good for Ohatani, not so good for baseball as a whole. The cost for the rest of the players just went up as well. We are already seeing the effects of that. This also shows the Twins are unwilling to pay market value for pitching. We lose Gray, Maeda, and Pagan because Twins didn't want to pay the going rate. Now even the Royals are signing free agent pitching. The price of all future contracts with players will be going up. No not to 700 million dollar levels but it drives the bidding up for the next level free agents. TheTwins had pitching but they decided to not pay the going rate. They had a good thing going but through it away. It's there decision. They have to live with it. Same thing as the ticket buyer. They can tell the team they disagree with their payroll reduction philosophy by staying away. And yes it is way too expensive to take a family or your grandkids to a Twins game.
  16. It's always interesting how we throw prospects names out there like they are superstars. Be realistic here. Most of the minor league players mentioned have proven little to nothing to be counted on. This team had holes last year and won the Central mainly because no other team was interested in competing. This coming season shows a lot more holes. We already have teams in the central making moves. Yes even Kansas City. Apparently it's not too early for them to add players. We know the reason is payroll reduction to some degree. As of now this team has more holes than the perverbial piece of Swiss cheese. I hope we start filling up those holes with mlb ready talent. As far as ohatani contract is concerned I think it is very bad for baseball as a whole. That huge contract will continue to increase the salaries of the mediocre average mlb player. I think we will again see ticket and concession prices increase making it too expensive for a family to attend a game.
  17. Well here we go again. Another off season and another one where we are to be left hoping Buxton will bless us with hus presence. I just laugh at these people calling Buxton a superstar. What has he done in 8 years to be credited with that honor? Riding the injured list much more than playing. Yet we are supposed to believe our whole season is determined by whether or not he plays? Oh please.
  18. Buxton has been a bust for most of his 8 year "career:" Giving him a 7 hear 100 million was a steal for him. Not bad for a guy who has only played 1 full season out of 8. Now we are hearing he is healed and ready to play this next year. How many times have we heard that over the years?? Extending him that long for that much after the injury riddled career he's had is absolutely ridiculous.
  19. The payroll reduction is a slap in the face of sorts to Twins fans. The fact that they also axed a few veteran long term scouts is even more interesting in cost reduction. To me this ownership group and Front Office are not that great at planning. This Bally Sports RN has been brewing for over two years. This is not a new phenomenon. So why did they commit 33 mil pee year to Correa and 17 million a year to the oft injured Buxton. That will make up nearly 40% of payroll for the next 5 years or so. Very strange.
  20. My statement was meant to suggest it was a stupid move on the Twins part to tie up that much money on Correa and Buxton. I tried to use the word smart sarcastically but failed. Those signings will hurt the Twins for the next several seasons.
  21. Nice list. If it's cheap, tge Twins are interested of course. Should they be? Not if you are serious about being a contender.
  22. If 2 years and 16 million is what the market is paying for a meh reliever, the Twins are out of it. The Twins like usual are looking for bullpen help that comes cheap. That means cheap. Their refusal to consider 25 mil a year for Gray, or 12 mil a year for Maeda, and now 8 mill for a reliever shows where we are headed this year. Spending 50 mil a year on Correa and Buxton was sure smart. I said way back when the Twins may spend some big bucks over the years for individual stars but are unable or unwilling to provide a supporting cast. Typical Twins
  23. Reportedly 2 years 16 million. He was actually good this past year after an awful 2022. Twins don't want to pay the going rate for pitching. Go cheap again.
