Glad twins won. A win is a win right? Idk. All I know it was the same old boring listless team with very little plate discipline.14 strikeouts against Oakland pitching staff? That's outrageous and inexcusable. Byron Buxton just keeps proving he us an over hyped player that is over injured. He continues to hurt the Twins lineup with his fruitless at bats. Put him on the il and get him out of there or our fruitless manager will continue putting the automatic out in the lineup. Batting 3rd no less. As fof Gallo sure the occasional homerun is nice. Hes hitting around 170 since may 1st. 11 million for that? Get serious. His strike out rate since May 1st is 43.7%. Ridiculous. For me I don't care if they release him soon. He's dead weight

My point exactly as well. I have nothing against Popkins other than the fact he's never played major league baseball. This fascination with putting computer analytic geeks in charge of coaching major league players is ludicrous. How can Mr. Computer know what it's like facing a 100 mph fastball if he's never seen one? Analytics is fine as an aid in player preparation and development but shouldn't be used as the main source of running your team.

Sick of all the Byron Buxton talk. This is now an 8 year story. It's Neverending. I understand people want him to play center field. I understand the theory that his hitting will improve as he will be more engaged in the game. I hope they are right. But I just don't see it. .perhaps the first few games he may hit great while playing center field due to an emotional spark. But it will probably just go back to normal batting. This fascination with Buxton and great he is or could be is 8 years of overhyped. He is what he is. An oft injured, seldom contributer, to a flailing mediocre team just meandering through the baseball season. Tye team has the easiest remaining schedule in all of MLB. They should walk away with the division Buxton or not. If they don't, heads should roll.

Where Do the Twins Go from Here
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
After listening to Falvey in recent interviews, I don't think any significant trades will be made. After checking today I find that the Twins have the easiest schedule in ALL of baseball the rest of the season. Falvey again has said he is counting on the slumping veterans to come through. And they should with the upcoming schedule. Obviously if they remain stagnant or somehow play worse the management should all be gone. To let your young highly touted by the FO prospects languish at AAA sit at St. Paul in place of Kepler and Gallo is lunacy. I wonder sometimes why any young players would sign with Twins the way the top prospects are treated. IMO this organization is at a crucial point. Win the division and win it convincingly or start over starting with the FO and manager. The remaining teams we play have a combined winning percentage of 466. If the Twins don't pull away from the pack people have got to go.- 65 replies

Where Do the Twins Go from Here
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
This team is right where they should be. Boring, uninspired, no spark or enthusiasm near 500 because so far that's all they've shown they want to be. I'm not impressed at all by the offense especially the veterans that are suppose to be leading this team. Nor am I impressed by the FO and their hands off everything will be fine attitude. With the great starting pitching we have had we should be at least 5-8 games ahead in the division. No matter what happens now we will be hurt by so many missed opportunities and the awe shucks attitude of the manager and FO. When the season ends and we don't make the playoffs again, in spite of a record payroll, this manager and FO should be replaced the next day.- 65 replies

This team has been going nowhere now for 3 straight seasons. There is no sense of urgency or fire in these veteran players that were suppose to lead this team. What an incredible waste of all the great starting pitching we've had. This team continues to play boring, uninspired baseball. Many times they look like they would rather be somewhere else than the ball field. I keep hoping they are going to turn it around and put on a good winning streak. Just when you think they may they lose and lose badly. IMO the manager and FO have made a mess of this organization. But it doesn't seem to matter since their is no accountability.

The one thing I would hope younger players bring to the table is some enthusiasm, fire, spark, and grit that our veterans totally lack. Our veteran hitters have let us down all year. They not only don't produce much but outs and s poor attitude they portray a don't care attitude. I'm worried they are not a good example fir our young players. Let the young guys play.

Great article!! I always count on your insight with drafted players and minor league player development. Apparently very good selections although I must admit I didn't know much about them until I read your article. Hopefully they develop and do well. My enthusiasm involving draft picks is usually tempered down by all the hype and self back patting done by the scouts and front office. We have a system full of" can't miss" prospects. Hopefully these players will be a big part of twins future.

Playing the "if" game is silly. What "if" Buxtons hit would have been a three run Homer? Come on. It wasn't a honor. It was hit well but it gets recorder as an out. What if? It didn't happen. What "if" the rest of the offense actually did something. I believe the Twins have scored 3 runs in their last 33 innings against Baltimore. Anyway go Twins.

As good as Gray is I know it would be tough to trade him. But I believe his contract is up at end of this season. He will be a free agent and may want to leave. I don't think he likes it here. He and Baldelli seem to be at odds. Trade him while you can get something for him. Maeda and Mahli are also free agents at end of season. Mahli with Tommy John is probably not be back anyway. Maeda at age 35 coming off Tommy John should probably be dealt as well. Twins should strongly consider trading veterans that are unlikely to return next year anyway.

Thank you Royals. You were just what the Twins needed. After the all star break we will get Oakland. Great chance to take 2 of 3 from Baltimore this weekend d then build on the win ING ways right after the all star game break. It's so hard to measure a team like the Twins when you sweep the Royals. On one hand you did what you should do against poor teams like KC that are just mailing it in day to day. Building up stats against poor teams can mask deficien its. But Twins did great. Keep this in mind. Twins are 9-1 against the Royals and 35-42 against all opponents not named the Royals. It's time to keep this streak going and put some distance between us and the rest of the division. Go Twins.

I agree with several other people that we need to keep in mind that this us the Kansas City Royals we are getting fat on. The Kansas City Royals that are firmly entrenched in last place. The Kansas City Royals that are 35- 40 games under 500. They are doing a great job of beating up on Royals but not much else against everyone else. They do have a much softer schedule the rest of July to get a firm hold of first place. I love the Twins and am glad they beat up the Royals. But we need to show some consistency and win series. If you are 35-42 against non Royals teams the only consistency you have shown is you can't win regularly.

Joey Gallo Shatters Failure Narratives
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Gallo is a career 199 hitter that is not very clutch. He will bunch together a few bombs then go in the tank like he has done throughout his career. I guess you don't get much for 11 mil anymore. I never understood the signing for that much money. Could have used that money to perhaps beef up the bullpen. Anyway I'm expecting he won't be back next year. I for one hope he is not back. -
Rocco Baldelli’s Leadership Highlighted In Twins Reset
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
The writer must be Roccos agent ir gets a cut of his salary lol. This team has been stagnant and boring for the past two and a half years. Where was Rocco 2 years ago and last year when the same thing was going on? Why did it take until half way through this season to publicly call out his players? Twins scored 8 runs in the first four innings of the first game in Baltimore enroute to an 8-1 victory. The radio announcers were gushing so much about Roccos meeting and change in philosophy it was nauseating. Predictably they only scored 2 runs in the next 22 innings. We need to see more consistency. How about an extended winning streak? How about sweeping the Royals and take 2 of 3 from Orioles at home this week. I've been a Twins fan for about 60 years. This past two and a half years have been about the most boring and frustrating I've ever witnessed. The FO shows no desire to improve the club. What direction is the club going. Several players are playing on their last contract year or option year. What's in store for the next few years? More of the same? ImO the manager and FO are handled with kid gloves by the local press. It's time to start demanding more if the team and organization. Go Twins, I still follow you daily. 4 innings in a three game series doesn't show you've turned it around. Oz- 44 replies

Duran is an excellent relief pitcher that has shown a history of significant regression when he is asked to pitch two days in a row. He only threw 8 pitches on Saturday so its reasonable to letnhim pitch the next day. It didnt work out. It happens. I think the bigger issue with Duran now is that he threw 34 pitches on Sunday meaning he probably won't be able to pitch until Wednesday. Granted we are only playing the Royals but they just took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers and have the same record over the past 10 days as the Twins. Just saying. Go twins!!!

Strange series. The 8-1 win in the opener skewed things a lot. After they scored those 8 runs through the first four innings, the Twins only scored 2 runs in the last 22 innings. Thanks to great pitching we held Baltimore to 3 runs total in the three games. People gave so much credit to Roccos speech to press and new hitting philosophy and changes to batting order trying to convince us they turned it around. Yes we won 2 of 3 from Orioles. That is awesome. That was due to great pitching again. It's the only thing keeping this team somewhat relevant In the obscurity that is the Anerican League Central. The hitting continues to be very suspect. 2 runs in the last 22 innings of this series. That is a retreat into its previous doldrums.

To criticize people that criticized the Twins during the Atlanta series as overreacting is absolutely no different than overreacting to Twins last two games as a season turnaround. I hope it is but I doubt it. Being in first place with a 500 record is no real accomplishment in perhaps the worst division since division play started. I fully expect Twins to win today and sweep the Orioles. Then we come home to face the royals. Looking for at least 2 of three there and same with orioles next weekend to get us on a roll. I hope so. Gladden said the other day the Twins were 17-24 since May 15. Then he excused that record by pointing out all the contending teams we faced. My contention is that just shows how far removed we are from m the contending teams. Go Twins.

Great article as always. We miss Aaraez enthusiasm and positive attitude. We don't have much of that with the current list of zombies on the 26 man. Don't get me wrong. Lopez is a decent pitcher. He won't win any Cy Young awards. He is and has been a serviceable 500 pitcher. It's always tough to trade an everyday player and batting champion and Allstar for a guy that will only play once a week. Watching areas it appears he's having fun. There is no fun in Twinsville currently.

It's becoming quite obvious it's the FO first and foremost need to be replaced. Probably Rocco as well. I would DFA Kepler and Gallo today. This team is listless and obviously doesn't care about winning. I think that's a fault of management. Let's get karnach and wallner up here. Let them play. Don't pinch hit for them half way through the game. Sure They will take some lumps but hopefully will bring some enthusiasm. Some of these veterans have got to go.

Carlos Correa is the Twins' Biggest Problem
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
If his plantar faciatis is so bad he shouldn't be playing. But I will say it makes for a convenient excuse. Correa and Buxton have been killing this team. If they are as hurt as Baldelli claims they should be put on the IL indefinitely until they can play. Plus it's hard a lot of times to take Baldelli seriously anyway. He isn't very transparent. Last season he kept telling us its the process not the results that we are interested in. Really? If that were to happen in normal corporate America that person would be gone. Also last year when both Correa and Buxton were somewhat decent Rocco had the both scheduled off on some home games. Hus response? I'm not sure what to do when they are scheduled off the same day. OMG what incompetence! Those thought processes continue this season. Nothing changes. Rocco is a big part of the problem with the Front Office an even bigger part. -
This team has been stagnant since the start if the 2021 season. They look and play as if they are not interested. A shakeup of some sort is needed soon. Too many veterans on this team that are just going through the motions. Not nearly enough accountability and responsibility taken for their lackluster attitude and performance.

This team looks like it's hit rock bottom. But this has been going on for the third season now. This isn't new Herr. But I will admit it's about as bad as it has been. They continue to play listless undisciplined baseball. Our veterans haven't played anywhere near veteran status. I used to get mad when Baldelli had Buxton and or Correa out of tge lineup. Now I'm glad when they are not playing. They are hurting the team especially Buxton. Kepler and Gallo should be gone immediately. The only thing g they are accomplishing is taking playing time away from some of our younger developing players. This was created by the FO and their unwillingness ir inability to improve the team says a lot. There never seems to be any accountability for this poor play. Nothing changes with this team. They continue to play boring baseball with no sense of urgency. They look and play like they don't care. That's about the worst thing to say about a team. That is a direct reflection on the manager and Front Office. Y There Hen D

Pablo Lopez is Better than His ERA
Whitey333 replied to Ted Wiedmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
First I like Lopez even though I don't like the trade. He's not an ace but still good. Second I agree that wins and losses are the most important team stat that us reflected on all players performance. It also just drives me nuts how people invent and twist around stats to make a player appear much better than he is or much worse for those Aaraez haters. That's like saying since the Twins are in first place, even with a sub 500 record, that they are a first place team. Come on! The Twins are what they are. A very boring 500 team that is stagnant as it relies and waits on their oft-faltering veterans. -
Game started out strange with the lineups. Royse Lewis not starting thd day after he had 3 hits. If he wasn't hurt that's pure lunacy. Pinch hitting with Buxton at anytime this past two months is pure lunacy. He us an automatic out usually via strikeout. Putting Pagan in to pitch in that situation is pure lunacy. It's so sad that many people thought the Twins played very well. After all it was against a great pitcher and a better team. Bottom line twins lost 4-1 against a far superior team and organization. Why can't Twins fans enjoy a consistently winning and competitive team? Why are we supposed to be happy with mediocrity?
