  1. Gallo is a career 199 hitter that is not very clutch. He will bunch together a few bombs then go in the tank like he has done throughout his career. I guess you don't get much for 11 mil anymore. I never understood the signing for that much money. Could have used that money to perhaps beef up the bullpen. Anyway I'm expecting he won't be back next year. I for one hope he is not back.
  2. The writer must be Roccos agent ir gets a cut of his salary lol. This team has been stagnant and boring for the past two and a half years. Where was Rocco 2 years ago and last year when the same thing was going on? Why did it take until half way through this season to publicly call out his players? Twins scored 8 runs in the first four innings of the first game in Baltimore enroute to an 8-1 victory. The radio announcers were gushing so much about Roccos meeting and change in philosophy it was nauseating. Predictably they only scored 2 runs in the next 22 innings. We need to see more consistency. How about an extended winning streak? How about sweeping the Royals and take 2 of 3 from Orioles at home this week. I've been a Twins fan for about 60 years. This past two and a half years have been about the most boring and frustrating I've ever witnessed. The FO shows no desire to improve the club. What direction is the club going. Several players are playing on their last contract year or option year. What's in store for the next few years? More of the same? ImO the manager and FO are handled with kid gloves by the local press. It's time to start demanding more if the team and organization. Go Twins, I still follow you daily. 4 innings in a three game series doesn't show you've turned it around. Oz
  3. Duran is an excellent relief pitcher that has shown a history of significant regression when he is asked to pitch two days in a row. He only threw 8 pitches on Saturday so its reasonable to letnhim pitch the next day. It didnt work out. It happens. I think the bigger issue with Duran now is that he threw 34 pitches on Sunday meaning he probably won't be able to pitch until Wednesday. Granted we are only playing the Royals but they just took 2 of 3 from the Dodgers and have the same record over the past 10 days as the Twins. Just saying. Go twins!!!
  4. Strange series. The 8-1 win in the opener skewed things a lot. After they scored those 8 runs through the first four innings, the Twins only scored 2 runs in the last 22 innings. Thanks to great pitching we held Baltimore to 3 runs total in the three games. People gave so much credit to Roccos speech to press and new hitting philosophy and changes to batting order trying to convince us they turned it around. Yes we won 2 of 3 from Orioles. That is awesome. That was due to great pitching again. It's the only thing keeping this team somewhat relevant In the obscurity that is the Anerican League Central. The hitting continues to be very suspect. 2 runs in the last 22 innings of this series. That is a retreat into its previous doldrums.
  5. To criticize people that criticized the Twins during the Atlanta series as overreacting is absolutely no different than overreacting to Twins last two games as a season turnaround. I hope it is but I doubt it. Being in first place with a 500 record is no real accomplishment in perhaps the worst division since division play started. I fully expect Twins to win today and sweep the Orioles. Then we come home to face the royals. Looking for at least 2 of three there and same with orioles next weekend to get us on a roll. I hope so. Gladden said the other day the Twins were 17-24 since May 15. Then he excused that record by pointing out all the contending teams we faced. My contention is that just shows how far removed we are from m the contending teams. Go Twins.
  6. Great article as always. We miss Aaraez enthusiasm and positive attitude. We don't have much of that with the current list of zombies on the 26 man. Don't get me wrong. Lopez is a decent pitcher. He won't win any Cy Young awards. He is and has been a serviceable 500 pitcher. It's always tough to trade an everyday player and batting champion and Allstar for a guy that will only play once a week. Watching areas it appears he's having fun. There is no fun in Twinsville currently.
  7. It's becoming quite obvious it's the FO first and foremost need to be replaced. Probably Rocco as well. I would DFA Kepler and Gallo today. This team is listless and obviously doesn't care about winning. I think that's a fault of management. Let's get karnach and wallner up here. Let them play. Don't pinch hit for them half way through the game. Sure They will take some lumps but hopefully will bring some enthusiasm. Some of these veterans have got to go.
  8. If his plantar faciatis is so bad he shouldn't be playing. But I will say it makes for a convenient excuse. Correa and Buxton have been killing this team. If they are as hurt as Baldelli claims they should be put on the IL indefinitely until they can play. Plus it's hard a lot of times to take Baldelli seriously anyway. He isn't very transparent. Last season he kept telling us its the process not the results that we are interested in. Really? If that were to happen in normal corporate America that person would be gone. Also last year when both Correa and Buxton were somewhat decent Rocco had the both scheduled off on some home games. Hus response? I'm not sure what to do when they are scheduled off the same day. OMG what incompetence! Those thought processes continue this season. Nothing changes. Rocco is a big part of the problem with the Front Office an even bigger part.
  9. This team has been stagnant since the start if the 2021 season. They look and play as if they are not interested. A shakeup of some sort is needed soon. Too many veterans on this team that are just going through the motions. Not nearly enough accountability and responsibility taken for their lackluster attitude and performance.
  10. This team looks like it's hit rock bottom. But this has been going on for the third season now. This isn't new Herr. But I will admit it's about as bad as it has been. They continue to play listless undisciplined baseball. Our veterans haven't played anywhere near veteran status. I used to get mad when Baldelli had Buxton and or Correa out of tge lineup. Now I'm glad when they are not playing. They are hurting the team especially Buxton. Kepler and Gallo should be gone immediately. The only thing g they are accomplishing is taking playing time away from some of our younger developing players. This was created by the FO and their unwillingness ir inability to improve the team says a lot. There never seems to be any accountability for this poor play. Nothing changes with this team. They continue to play boring baseball with no sense of urgency. They look and play like they don't care. That's about the worst thing to say about a team. That is a direct reflection on the manager and Front Office. Y There Hen D
  11. First I like Lopez even though I don't like the trade. He's not an ace but still good. Second I agree that wins and losses are the most important team stat that us reflected on all players performance. It also just drives me nuts how people invent and twist around stats to make a player appear much better than he is or much worse for those Aaraez haters. That's like saying since the Twins are in first place, even with a sub 500 record, that they are a first place team. Come on! The Twins are what they are. A very boring 500 team that is stagnant as it relies and waits on their oft-faltering veterans.
  12. Game started out strange with the lineups. Royse Lewis not starting thd day after he had 3 hits. If he wasn't hurt that's pure lunacy. Pinch hitting with Buxton at anytime this past two months is pure lunacy. He us an automatic out usually via strikeout. Putting Pagan in to pitch in that situation is pure lunacy. It's so sad that many people thought the Twins played very well. After all it was against a great pitcher and a better team. Bottom line twins lost 4-1 against a far superior team and organization. Why can't Twins fans enjoy a consistently winning and competitive team? Why are we supposed to be happy with mediocrity?
  13. The Gallo signing and the failed trades for oft injured pitchers and an organizational philosophy of using Twins as a reclamation team should be enough nails in the coffin to get rid of the front office but it won't be. We will be stuck with the same boring team unless and until they are gone.
  14. Yes this team has been playing boring undisciplined baseball for two and a half seasons. The veteran hitters for the most part have been bad. Oh sure Buxton hits two long Homer's against Boston and people say he's back. Of course he goes on another hitless streak with several more strikeouts. And obviously the manager blames it on his I Jared back he's had trouble with for most of the season. How convenient isn't. Then fir whatever reason they refuse to put him on IL. I suppose he may get traumatized. They many times rest him fir several days without an IL designation. This just limits Roccos Ben h even more. If he's to hurt to even be the DH the. IL him. He is hurting, not helping the team. Very strange team indeed.
  15. My guess is that although he should be gone today they will keep him until at least the trade deadline and more likely dump him after the season. I also was one of those that questioned Gallos signing especially fir 11 mill. He instantly became one of the highest paid players on this Twins team. 11 mil for a guy with a career 199 average and a strikeout rate near 40%. I'm sure we have AAA players can do that at about the minimum salary. Gallo has been a bust. It's time for Wallner and Larnach. Let's move on from some of these veterans that seem to just be going through the motions. This team has been stuck in neutral for two and a half seasons. Get some players in here with some drive and enthusiasm.
  16. Great win. Great job Joe Ryan. Ert Blyleven and his 61 career shutout wins I'm sure is very proud of you as well. Very nice two games against Boston. Now on to Detroit. Let's not blow this opportunity This time. Remember last week when we played two great games against Brewers then laid an egg by losing 3 of 4 to Tigers and first two of Boston series and playing very poor baseball losing 5 of 6. With Braves and Orioles coming up we cannot afford to lay another egg. We all keep hoping that something sparks the team into a win ING streak. Buxton? Good for him. Let's face the facts here. A 3 game hitting g streak albeit a nice and timely one doesn't erase the otherwise poor year he is having. When he is hitting poorly the manager is quick to point out its due to his injuries. It's funny how the injury talk goes away when he gets in one of his increasingly infrequent hot streaks. But we need buck and Carlos if we are to really be competitive. Let's sweep the Tigers. Go Twins
  17. Twins are a strange team. Now they have many on here thinking they have turned it around or that this ma help them turn it around. We have been saying this all year. Maybe this or maybe that will turn them around. Let's be truthful here. We need a good streak. No a one game winning streak won't do it. Until the team somehow fixes their significant deficiencies, a 500 team is about all you can hope for.
  18. 6 man rotation? No way for all the reasons you mentioned. Also questioning why they are so concerned about Maeda. He's 35, just off Tommy John then another injury. He's a free agent at the end of the season. He certainly doesn't seem like a long term fit here. Cut him loose and let one of the young players come up and pitch. Unless of course they can find another injured or injury prone pitcher to replace Maeda. It seems that's the type of pitcher they want.
  19. It's a great article by Reusse. The local sports media needs to start being a little more critical of the FO. They have made some very questionable moves and signings. Yet they never seem to be held accountable. As far as Buxton and Corre having no trade clauses. That doesn't mean they can't or won't be traded. Many times players with no trade clauses have them waived for an opportunity to be traded perhaps to a contender. That and of course plenty of cash to waive their no trade clause. But Bu ton and Correa aren't going anywhere. They are paid way too much. Not many teams would take on their salary for what little production they give us. Also why would they want to waive their no trade clause? They make a ton of money hear and don't have tgd media pressure that other teams have. Anyway thus FO and manager are proving to be a bust.
  20. This has been a mess since the start of the 2021 season and it seems to get worse. This has been and continues to be one of the most boring twins teams in recent memory. What makes these past three years tougher is tge FO telling us how good we are. Dave st. Peter even said this team is a world series team. Really? Does he even bother to watch this mess? At least in years past we knew the team wasn't going to be that good. Now they sign free agents and make trades they say to help us. If this is our window of opportunity I'd hate to see the bottom. This team has been lifeless for three years now. They play boring ball, make way too many mistakes. It's also hard to figure out where they are going. They tend to treat mist of their younger players with disdain in favor of washed up veterans with no heart. Something needs to change soon.
  21. Great comments by all. Aaraez had 5 hits again last night. Not here to bum rap the trade but we did trade a batting champion that plays everyday for a starting pitcher that is historically is , and continues to be, a 500 pitcher at best. Then we extend him to a big contract. Very strange indeed. By the way Aaraez has more hits than our "superstars" Correa and Buxton combined.
  22. Twins are just a so so 500 team in a rotten division playing boring baseball. Losing 3 of 4 to Detroit at home is inexcusable. They were lucky to win the one game. That too was very boring. Buxton is a disgrace. I'm not sure that he automatically becomes a viable major league hitter bh throwing him in center field. If he's hurt put him ob the IL again. Thus team is listless. Gallo is exactly what was advertised. A huge strikeout king. No wonder the dodgers and Yankees gave up on him. This team is boring and listless just like their manager. The FO seems content with nediocrity.
  23. Nice article. Polanco has done a great job fir the Twins until this recent series of injuries. Buxton and Kepler have become automatic outs. Not sure if putting Buxton out in center field will help his offense. But I must admit it couldn't hurt. He is just awful at the plate. Everyone talks about hiw great if an athlete he is and how lucky twins are to have him. Unfortunately we very seldom get to see him play to find out. 8 seasons from a supposed superstar that spends more time on the IL than on the field. And if he is too hurt to put him in centerfield then he needs to go back on the IL because he is hurting this team and has for quite some time. I've always liked Kepler but it's obvious he needs to go. Both Wallner and Larnach are better.
  24. Glad we won. Just win baby. But it is funny how people think 1 win turns them into contenders. This is still a very flawed team. They need a win Sunday just to split the series. Did we already forget the two very ugly games and losses in the first two games of the series? Thus coming of a very good two game sweep of the Brewers? Tigers came to Target Field with one win in June. They had lost 13 of 15. Yet they outplayed us and had a pitc h er with an ERA over 7 stymie our offense. There is just so much missing not the least of which is adequate play from our veterans, barely hitting 200 and striking out a ton. Still not hitting, Buxton looks totally lost and Correa not much better. Kepler hasn't been a factor at all. This team us just a 500 team in a very poor division. They are in first place mainly by default. Does that make them a good team? Hardly. IF the lose today it would be nothing short of disastrous losing 3 of 4 to the Tigers at home. I do think we will win today. Go Twins!!
  25. I'm still trying to figure out what Kepler has on the Twins. He, with a couple of other players need to be DFA now. People alway talk about Larnach having a sub par season. His 211 ba isn't good but is on a par or better than several players including Buxton, Correa, and Kepler. I used to love Kep but he's been pretty awful the past couple of years. Keep Castro!! It's hard to take the FO and manager Rocco seriously when they don't roster their best players.
