  1. Just another meh move by a meh front office to field a meh team. Signing these guys will do nothing. But if it means releasing Gallo...... Great. Just typical low cost reclamation projects that likely won't make a positive difference but more likely a negative impact with keuchel. There is a reason no one signed him. There is a reason he's been dfa'd several times the past few years. Look I hope he does well but his history says otherwise. Go Twins
  2. Very interesting article. It does make you think anyway. I can't imagine the ownership is that thrilled with this teams performance. The big money guys have done little to nothing to help the team. There are limits as to what ownership could or should do with payroll. Yes they are very wealthy but smartly they run the team just like any of their businesses. If they didn't we may not have had major league baseball here for the past 3 decades. But of course we don't know if they put the lid on payroll or not. After all it's a privately held business they don't have to tell us. To me what's more intriguing is why Gallo is still even on the roster. He should have been DFA'd weeks ago. Also that we are likely to get nothing in return now when our free agents and option players are gone after the season. A draft pic? Big deal. Only 15% of those draft pics ever make it. What I find even more interesting is that they may not like the looks of, or believe in, this team. Totally under a Randalls. Many of us Twins fans feel the same way. But remember thud. The FO only has itself to blame. They put this team together.
  3. Been following twins baseball since the mid sixties. This has taken me through some fun years and some awful years. Yet I find myself totally frustrated with a franchise that hired a new front office 7 years ago that told us we would have a sustainably winning and competitive team. We are still waiting. The past three years have produced some of the most overhyped and boring baseball in years. They are very hard to watch. I love the Twins and follow them daily. IMO this management team should be replaced by someone that can give us major league baseball. My guess is we will back into the central division title by default and they will all be telling us what a great job they did. This will result in us having to put up with this embarrassing brand of baseball for years. Go Twins!!
  4. Good for Dallas. Not sure it's good for the Twins. I guess it's worth shot. Why not? Ryan, whether he's hurt or not, looks cooked and may need a rest. Dallas has been released several times by several ball clubs the past few years. The Twins love reclamation projects. I don't see him doing much to help the Twins.
  5. Not sure of his status. I thought he himself opted out of his contract with the Twins. In that case I don't think the Twins own him and he may not even be a part of the organization. If that is the case the can't " call him up" because there is nothing to "call up." In any case I don't mind that they signed him in the first place but he has blown up his tire so to speak. He hasn't been a quality MLB starting pitcher for about 4 years. The Twins need a lot more than him to suddenly become relevant.
  6. Great article ( video) about the trade deadline and this FO. I totally agree with your thoughts about them selling hope only. They sell hope but produce mediocrity. That's why I get so frustrated about the Twins. I've been a Twins fan since the mid 60s and these past three seasons have been about the worst I've seen. I have very little hope of this team as long as Falvey/lavine are in control. Loved your video though!
  7. Some major publication recently predicted the Twins will win the division with an 80-82 record. Of course they also predicted that we would have a major league shortstop and DH. I guess you can't have everything.
  8. I read someplace, I think mlb.com but not sure, that Keukel opted out of his contract when the Twins said they didn't have a spot on the 40 man roster. If that's true it's outrageous. There's plenty of candidates on the 40 man and even a couple on the 26 man. Regarding the artcle: well done! Well thought out. I agree with the comments but it just points to the inability of this FO to manage a roster. If #3 is correct that there isn't enough talent on this team for a serious playoff run. That very well may be true but this FO is the one that pit this "team" together. They only have themselves to blame for it. We will back into the division title and this great FO that has brought some of the poorest baseball for Twins fans, will be strutting around like peacocks telling us what a great job they did. Then when the playoffs start and we face mainly left handed starting pitching they will show their true colors. I do understand to some extent not trading. A trade for the sake of a trade is foolish. But to stand there and tell us you have a great team is being disingenuous. We should all be used to that by now. They brought us a mediocre team the past 3 years. That must have been what they were hired for. We are supposed to. As longtime twind fans, just sit back and be happy with it. IMO this team, manager and front office are frauds. If we somehow don't make the playoffs that the other central division teams don't want then our management team must go. Rd G.
  9. Wow. This FO keeps failing the Twins faithful. They didn't have to make a big splash. But they could have added a bullpen arm and right handed bat. They just keep panning this off as a good team. They are 30-39 against teams with a winning record. That alone tells you we aren't very good.
  10. I totally agree that no trade out there would have greatly improved this team. And I agree the veterans on this team need to step up. But we've been saying that all year. Where are they? They have a few games when the veterans play decently then go right back In the tank again. They display no urgency, no leadership and no sense of direction. Sure they will probably win the Junior Varsity Central division. Big deal. This team is going nowhere with the current roster. I really didn't anticipate them doing much. My question is when will this FO and current coaches be held accountable? The players don't appear to be held accountable why should the bosses I guess. .
  11. Great comments by all. I'm just going to throw this in. The Twins are 30-39 against teams with 500 or better winning percentage. They are not serious contenders. They are frauds. They purport to be contenders. Yes for an embarrassingly weak A L Central. ImO not much of an accomplishment. They are what the are and have been for three years: a mediocre team jn a mediocre division. But all they have to do is hang in there because Cleveland has a tough schedule. Go Twins!
  12. There should be a trade or two today to get one or two right handed bats and bullpen help. I would DFA Gallo immediately thus creating a roster spot. IF the Twins have no plans to keep Gray and Maeda then they too should be traded. They are in a tough spot but it's their own fault. Trying to sell a mediocre team to its fans is tough. We should be used to it with the last three years. I will be following the trade deadline today. I expect the Twins may make a relatively minor move or two then tell ys how confident they are in the team they have. This FO usually signs free agents late after many of the most wanted free agents sign elsewhere. They also do the same with trades. Wait until the last minute while telling us its the best way to leverage a trade. But then miss out on a lot of opportunities from players already traded. Go Twins!
  13. This team has been stagnant over 2+ years. They play lackluster, boring, undisciplined baseball. That is apparently what this manager and FO are trying to sell to the public as good baseball. Unfortunately I don't see much change for the better. If we don't win the division this year, we need a complete change of management and coaching. They have told us for three seasons now that out winning window is open. We sure missed the boat there. With ownership signing off on big contracts, and having the highest team payroll ever, perhaps it's time to quit calling them cheap and put the blame on those running the team and hold them accountable.
  14. Plenty of people in the Twibs organization from the president through the gm and manager keep telling us we have a good ball club with a good chance of going to the world series. The over hype is ridiculous. I'm also convinced that this team is content with mediocrity. There is no drive, no leadership, very little enthusiasm, very little field managing and coaching. I want a team that is competitive, that doesn't make excuses for poor play, that actually cares about the fans, that actually can make effective trades, that can scout and that can be honest with fans. Trying to sell a 500 team as good in a kindergarten division is unprofessional. Most twins fans can see what you are selling us is a mediocre team. We have a FO that makes many more bad trades than good ones. We seem to only be satisfied trading for oft injured players. We sign free agents for 11 million dollars with a career 199 batting average that strikes out over 40% of time and tries to tell us its OK. That's baseball. That IMO is why we are where we are at. We have mediocrity because apparently that's what management wants to sell. Twins fans deserve better than that.
  15. I'm not convinced they are going to make the playoffs either. I think they will but playing as mediocre as they have been for the past 2+ years they aren't a playoff calibre team right now. But someone has to win the division right? Dallas Kuechel is an interesting situation. A typical Twins reclamation project hopeful. He's done his job at AAA. But that's what it is AAA, not the majors. His last 4 big league seasons produced ERA over5, then over 7, then over 9 then over 12. He's only been here since June. I'd hate to see some misplaced loyalty for Kuechel result in him replacing a starting pitcher who's been here a while. I just don't think there is enough in his big league tank left. I say trade him for some prospect.
  16. Tough games. Twins have lost 4 in a row just when it looked like they may turn it around. Sound familiar? Twins have given up35 runs the past 4 games. The pitching seems to have developed a few cracks. If our pitching goes south we are done. Not surprised though as this team has been doing this fir the past three seasons. Not much has changed.
  17. Not sure of the official stats but I don't think our starting pitching, other than Ober, has been very good since the all star break. Twins have given up 25 runs the past three games. I want so much to wrap myself into this team but I just can't. Everytime you think the are ready to turn the corner they falter. I've had the same problems with the Twins the past couple of seasons. They are proving to be frauds. Yes they may very well win the division which is also fraudulent. This team is so full of holes. Addition by subtraction? Dump Gallo. Just DFA him he's terrible.
  18. IMO I Think the Twins have mishandled him and others. It's quite obvious they don't like, want, or think he is a viable major league talent. He's shown flashes of brilliance. But seems like as soon as he goes into an 0 for 10 slump they shun him even though at one point early in the season he was second on the team with 30 some RBI. His reward? Send him to st. Paul. He has trouble hitting a breaking ball. Has anyone watched Byron Buxton flailing away at breaking balls the past few years? He can't hit it either. I agree with the contributer about why the hitting instructors can't seem to help him. Isn't that what they get paid for? It's more than just Larnach messing up here. He deserves to be on a major league team somewhere. I'm hoping that the Twins either make him an everyday player or trade him to an organization that can use him. After all we have Joey Gallo don't we lol?
  19. 18 strikeouts is horrendous. Pagan in any high pressure situation is poor management. Having so many bullpen arms unavailable for the game shows , in part, poor management. Those strikeouts were kind if being covered up by the team winning games. I believe we have over 90 strikeouts over the past 6 or 7 games. Awful. If Sands us so bad that you can't use him all week then get rid of him. Hopefully they win Wednesday. Go Twins.
  20. Even though the team is playing much better lately, IMO they are still a mediocre, not bad, team. If we have been in a " window" the past three years then the windows should be replaced with new ones. And a new set of eyes should then be supervising. We will probably win the division. And we should. Anything short of that in an awful division would be totally unacceptable.
  21. Way to go Twins. Just win baby! It's amazing what a nice winner streak does to cover up some real nagging deficiencies on a generally medio re team. Let's keep winning. Let's finish off Mariners then go to Royals and sweep them again.
  22. Nice win Twins. Let's sweep them today. Buxton looked back to normal yesterday. 0 for 4 with 3 strikeouts. Hopefully he starts at least hitting better in the days and weeks to come. Go Twins
  23. I had to do a double are and make sure it wasn't a rand stu balls article. Then I realized it's Saturday and not Friday. Anyway Ryan obviously isn't going anywhere. But the Twins need to seriously consider trading the players like Gray, Maeda, Gallo, Kepler etc that may not be here next year. Would be smart to get something for them before they leave and we get nothing.
  24. Great to see Buxton Homer twice and end the 0 for 26 slump. I believe that's his fourth similar slump this year. I'm glad everyone is happy but don't says he's out of his slump. He's out of the hitless streak he was on and ended it in grand style. But we've seen this several times this year. He will have a great game or even a few games then go right back to his horrific slumps. I'm hoping that doesn't happen. I'd love to see Buxton hitting like they always tell us he can hit. We will need him if we make the playoffs. Let's see how he does the next few games. It's always funny that you never hear about his injuries when he actually hits the ball with authority. But when he is in one of his many slumps t h ats all you hear about is how his injuries are the cause of his poor hitting. Go Buck. We need you and are all pulling for you.
