  1. Nice article. I was going to point out that Rogers was actually very good for the Padres the first few weeks. While he was saving them Pagan was blowing them. Someone else did a great job reporting this. Pagan is a joke and the Twins insistence on process over results cost us many games last year. Pagan has been bad most of his career. Rogers has overall had a decent career. Also if baseball is trending to less importance and length placed on starting pitching, you better have a damn good bullpen. The Twins have some but overall it's not that great. If bullpens are pitching half the games each year they deserve big increases. The fact that the Twins won't pay market value for the product they need is not unusual. They bargain basement shop for their pitching staff and it shows. IfJoey Gallo is able to command a job on the Twins at 11 million, Rogers and relief pitchers like him deserve it more. Remember Gallo is a career .199 hitter. Yes that is CAREER. He also strikes out more often than Sano. And he is a terrible clutch hitter. The bullpen needs to be beefed up if the manager only lets starters go 5 or 6 innings. The bullpen was burned out last season. Twins need to pay at least market share. Good relievers cost money. Apparently Twins only want " affordable" ones.
  2. Baldelli is number one improvement needed. IMO he has been mediocre at best. He's a very boring manager that manages a very boring team to play even more boring baseball. If they are always going to stick to the plan and are unwilling or unable to actually manage a game, then they should just set the laptop on the bench and let it manage lol. This is one of the most boring baseball Twins team I've ever watched. As they discussed about Pagan, it's the process not the results we are interested in. It's obviously the same philosophy the whole FO has. If they really don't care about winning and are only concerned about the process and not results, they should be fired.
  3. Nice article on base stealing. Too bad it was diluted by a self serving infomercial.
  4. First ballot is a tough gig. Unlikely Joe makes it on the first ballot. He should make it in the first 5 years. He deserves to be a HOF member.
  5. I hope the Mets keep him. I don't want the Twins to resign him or have anything to do with him. I'm absolutely sick and tired of all this Correa garbage. Let him go. It's over. Who cares anymore?
  6. Anything the Twins sign will definitely be a below average player. They traded a decent player Urshela for a low level pitcher we will probably never see. Apparently the FO wasn't excited about paying an arbitration salary of around 9 million for him. By trading Urshela for a song and dance they had created even more questions. Miranda could maybe go to third. He's played there before and looked pretty bad. Maybe he will be better. Seems this FO has created most of their own problems. I don't see them trading for any of the players mentioned. So far the off season has been a disaster. Signing Vazquez was one of the better signings as we needed a catcher and now they have one. Gallo? 11 million for a career .199 hitter is way over spend IMO. If they were able to spend it on him why wouldn't they have invested that money into some much needed pitching? He does homer in about once in every 15-20 at bats. But seldom homers in the clutch. He strikes out more than once in every three at bats. Come on Falvey, and Levine. You can do better than that. If not you should be gone. And take Rocco with you.
  7. No Ted, in my view your view that Gallo is a good signing is way overblown. My guess is he may start kind of hot and everyone will get rel excited thinking it was such a great deal. But by mid season the dwindling fans in attendance will boo him mercilessly for all the strikeouts and low average and his continued poor clutch hitting. IMO he isn't needed. If another outfielder needed to be signed I believe better players were available. This will go down as another one of their strange signings. It will not make the team better. This FO will go down as one of the worst in Twins history. This team has very little direction. When 2023 ends, the Twins will have played another year of boring, losing baseball. Then it should be the end of Falvey, Lavigne, and Rocco.
  8. If Twins start season with no more significant additions I suspect they only win 70-75 games. The fans will have pretty much booked Gallo out of town for his .199 batting average, a strike out rate in high 30% and his horrendous clutch hitting. IMO that 11 mill could have been better spent on the bullpen. I suggest that if these prospects everyone is so excited about don't have productive results in 2023, it's time to move on. That includes Falvey, Lavigne, and Rocco.
  9. Twins treat free agency like a disease or the plague. One good thing about free agents is the don't generally cost you any player talent in return. You can keep your " prospects" even if they aren't any good. I also get a kick out of how people say we have starting pitching depth. Where is it? Depth, to me implies good reliable pitching. While Gray has been decent and Ryan gives hope, what about the rest of them Mahle? Possibly. Over, Winder, Varland, SWR, have proved nothing so far at the major league level. I full expect the Twins to go post Christmas discount shopping for starting pitching again. It's sad because there were a couple of pitchers out there that they could have had. The one thing this FO has shown is that they work off the gullibility of their fans. Dangle something out there, then don't sign him or anyone else of any significance, just under the pretext of looking like you know what they are doing. To me they currently look like frauds.
  10. Can we ever quit discussing Correa? People talk like he was a Twins institution for many years and not the opportunistic bag of wind he proved himself to be. He and Boras used the Twins and us fans since day one. We all knew this and we played his con of how much he wanted to play here right to the hilt. I can understand us gullible fans and public buying into being played. But the FO should be ashamed at how they handled it. It's time to move on from Correa. If the Twins have another poor season it will be time to consider a new FO. Unless of course they can keep conning the fans into thinking they are good.
  11. Since day one with the Twins it was apparent that Correa was in it only for Correa. The Twins got used from the beginning. Shame on the FO for letting it happen. My guess is Twins were never in on a second chance ( thankfully) just like they were really never in it originally. He wasn't going to play for a team that doesn't appear to have winning as a main goal. Not can the Minnesota area keep his ego propped up enough. And yes let's stop the Correa articles. It's old news. He was only here for one season and had no organizational ties here. It's done. Get over it.
  12. Interesting article. If it is indeed true that the Twins offered Correa 285 mil over 10 years, then it is safe to assume there is money in the budget to spend at that level. Then it's totally understandable to question why the Team rarely signs even mid term FA. I think most of us realize they are not going after upper echelon free agents. And that's fine. It's understandable. But don't criticize fans who dare to question their lack of impactful signings. You can't have it both ways. If you aren't going after the top FAs then don't let people on thinking you are really trying. There are several holes on this roster to fill. Letting so many FAs sign elsewhere that were within twins budget is irresponsible. Vazquez seems like a nice signing. But Gallo? 11 million for a .199 career average and 38% strikeout rate? That's also irresponsible.
  13. This FO is awful. They show little direction at all. Signing Gallo was stupid. Signing him to 11 million is more than stupid. He is not needed here. What a waste of a roster space at least for this Twins team. He probably would be a better fit with other teams. He hit around .160 last year and has a lifetime .199 average. His career clutch hitting is around .156. his strikeout rate is over 38%. Just what we need another automatic out in the batting order. People will cheer when he hits the occasional home run but listen to them boo when most of the time he produces nothing and at an alarming rate. The boo birds will be out early this year for Gallo and the Twins.
  14. Another wish list that Twins will probably ignore. They will be hoping for a healthier team and improved performance from the players we have for the most part. When the dust settles, Gallo the choker will be booed out of Minnesota. Twins bullpen will blow another 12 games or so, clutch hitting will again be missing. Also missing will be the continued dumpster diving stiffs Twins always seem to find. Also we will have to stomach another season of terrible baseball. Boring and uninspiring and perhaps 75 wins. Fans will again be blasted for not coming to Target field as attendance will dip to 1.5 million. Put a team on the field that competes and a FO that is serious about producing a regular contender and people will come. Otherwise year 3 of awful baseball masquerading as MLB will bring the same old him drum performance and record.
  15. Gallo signing was perplexing. He's just a minor upgrade from Sano in that Gallo can play a little defense . It won't take long to boo him and his 39% strikeout rate. At 11 million I believe he is our third highest paid player. What a waste of payroll. Did they check his strikeout rate? Did the check his career .199 average? Did they check his .156 clutch hitting average? I'm sure they did. That's how Twins do business. What ifs and hope that's how the Twins operate. Remember this FO recently said, It's the process and not the results that's important.
  16. Nice article Seth! IMO the Twins did everything wrong so far this off season. But probably everything right within their unwavering "plan". Not signing Correa was probably smart. But missing out on other FA is inexcusable but not u usually. That's how they do business. They play boring baseball on the field and off. If 2023 turns out to be year three of another listless team the FO needs to go. Why can't they be a little truthful and transparent with fans? Remember their .ontra is " it's the process, not the results."
  17. Wow. I'm all excited. Not sure about the rest of you lol. Typical Twins garbage signings. I'm sure some may play for Twins at some point this year. Why would we expect anything different?
  18. Nice info on the video. IMO a total waste of resources. By mid season or earlier people will boo him more than they did Sano. Yes he's a decent fielder but an awful offensive player. He may homer once in a while but not worth 11 mil. They way over spent. I believe this makes him the third highest paid Twin at this point behind Buxton and Gray. Another typical, albeit strange move by Falvey. He really needs to go.
  19. Good comments all. The FO has played us again. Many fans are gullible ( yes me included) that things may be changing. Yes they are for the worse. This FO has messed up a lot of things. Not signing Correa was a wise prudent decision. But letting good mid tier free agents sign with other teams while waiting on Correa is a crucial mistake. But they have done this a lot. Wait until most of the quality free agents sign elsewhere and bemoan the fact there aren't too many left to choose from is classic Twins. Yes we are a gullible lot us Twins fans. Oh yes we did sign Joey Gallo to a one year 11 mill contract. He with the .199 career average and a strikeout rate higher than Sano. Oh please. What a messed up organization.
  20. I also tend to avoid articles submitted by Sherry. I should have avoided it too. What a line of garbage it's filled with plus many inaccuracies. About the only thing I agree with is being glad twins didn't sign Correa. IMO this FO is or should be on a very short string. They have done a couple of good things I will grant you. But I believe they have almost ruined this franchise. The team is boring, has no identity, plays very poor baseball. Signing Joey Gallo, yes he of the 199 career average type to a one year contract of 11 million is ludicrous.
  21. Wow did the Twins way over pay for Gallo. A career .199 hitter gets 11 million for one season? His strikeout rate is slightly higher than Sano. You think people were being Sano? Wait until they see Gallo. Last year's strike out rate over 39% yes a little higher than our friend Sano. I sure hope I'm proven wrong but it sure looks like one of the dumbest signings this FO has ever done. Way overpay. just fits in with the low level signings the Twins are noted for.
  22. Loved the article. Well done. I never liked the Correa signing in the first place. We all need he would only be here one year. Then as a baseball community he and Boras played us. That was predictable as well. What is frustrating is that the Twins let themselves be played. Yes I'm not concerned with not signing Correa. He was a list cause since day one. I am concerned with this FO again messing around and waiting until too late to sign people we need for other positions. This has been their method of operation since they came on board. What we have now is another year of boring, uninspired, and undisciplined baseball to look forward to. Not because we didn't sign Correa but that at this point haven't signed any meaningful players to fill all the holes on this team.
  23. It really has been a typical Twins off season thus far. They not only didn't come close to signing Correa ( which actually may be good) they've let other mid tier free agents get picked up by other teams. I'm sure it was planned out. Offer Correa a deal you knew he wouldn't take so you can give a positive pr spin on how hard you tried. Also let other free agents that are affordable go to other teams so there's not a lot left. That way you can do some bargain basement shopping for the washed up, has been, and oft injured players you find while dumpster diving. All in all so far I would say everything has gone about has become expected with the Twins.
  24. In 2021 fans were saying that 2022 was a bridge year and 2023 we should be all in. What happened? Well the team was competitive in a bad division until the last month or so. Then injuries and management over estimating player development. Overhyping young players that have not shown that much. The result has been terrible baseball the past two years. Now some people are saying we are in a soft rebuild. 2023 looks bleak as again the team is relying on what ifs, lofty projections, rookies, and prospects. Hype and hope. That's what the Twins sell. That's what a lot of fans eat up. If they don't improve the next year or two a new direction is needed in FO and on field management.
