Btw. You didn't mention the flareup of sorts between Baldelli and Cellistino. I'm not a Rocco fan but was elated to see him bench Cellistino when his head was clearly NOT in the game AGAIN!! He clearly should not be on this team

Twins were out of contention a long time ago. And of course now we have people tell us we should be happy with a 500 club. I agree the whole coaching staff should be replaced. An organizational look into the vast amount of injuries and their length. Lack of transparency between said injuries from management. Buxton? Twins got just what they planned for. A part time player on a $100 million contract that the only thing you can count on with him is being injured. Correa? Same thing. Just an average to below average season until September when it's important for HIM to improve his stats for another run at free agency. What was frustrating for this fan was the division was there for the taking and they couldn't do it. The lack of fire or urgency especially since the all star game is tragic. Very poor base running and hitting and pitching and a total laid back, I don't care if we lose as long as we stick to the plan philosophy by Baldelli. Handwriting was on the wall this spring when they told us all those blown bullpen games didn't matter because it was only one game.

Wow. Great comments by all. Well thought out. Yes injuries piled up at the end making for a convenient excuse. The team played very poorly since June 1st before the biggest rash of injuries. Buxton?? He, as expected is becoming if not irrelevant, certainly predictable and undependable. The FO messed up with the pitching staff big time. They knew they were thin in the starting staff but did very little to fix it until they traded for the injury prone. Also the maddening philosophy of sticking to the plan cost them many wins this year. We have a manager who is incapable of unwilling to deviate from the plan even if it will cost us a game. His in game management is terrible. The analytic approach/ spreadsheet approach is ok but must be used in conjunction with a common sense eye test approach. The FO is too narrow minded to approach the game in any sort of a semi or quasi traditional manner. I'm sure Rocco fits right in with that rigidity.

I've been to a handful of games this year but none since the all star game mainly due to my personal schedule but also due in part to the teams poor play. I'm glad they are running extra promos to try and increase attendance. The biggest attendance booster though is playing good sound baseball with players who appear to at least show some life. For me being out of contention makes some difference but playing solid entertaining baseball is more important. We've seen very little of that the past two seasons.

I noticed you gave henriquez a dressing down for his poor performance in his 4 th inning of relief. That is understandable. However no mention at all of our great closer Lopez who gave up 4 runs and couldn't even complete an inning of work. He's been awful since we got him. Anyway just a typical loss for a team just going through the motions the past few weeks.

The Moments that Sank the 2022 Minnesota Twins
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Excellent article. I would have also included the several games in June losing to Cleveland late in the game with Pagan being sent back out there time after time to lose games. This is reflective of Rocco's stay with the plan I don't care if we lose approach. The what if speculations regarding Buxton have been going on for eight years now. Come on, he is what he is: a good, at times, part time player. You can't hang your hat on a part time player that is so undependable. So many failures before the catastrophic injuries even came up. Extremely poor in game management and adjustments by Baldelli. They have a lot of work to do to be competitive in 2023. The injuries and their length of time? I don't understand it for sure. Not even sure what can be done but a thorough organizational look into it should be one of the first things to do.- 34 replies

These last few games have really shown our latest surge of injuries and illnesses and depleted the lineup. But let's not lose sight of the fact that this team has many holes in it from the start. Since June the Twins have played very poor and uninspired baseball. It is becoming way too convenient to blame their demise on injuries. Yes they have had plenty but the team was playing poorly for several months with mainly a regular lineup up. Now they are playing rotten with a very depleted lineup.

Are Twins Pitchers Spinning Out of Control?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Spin rates? Oh please quit trying to make bad pitchers look good. What good is it when your top spin rates pitchers are amongst your poorest results pitchers. Well researched article but it is just part of the new very boring emphasis on many of these types of stats.- 11 replies

Let's see, Twins score 3 early runs then don't hit a lick. We have a pitcher in over pitching very well through 5 innings and gets pulled by Rocco even though he said he was not on any pitch counts or restrictions. We again turn half the game over to the bullpen. Bullpen gives up several hits with the count 0-2 on the batter. Yes Gordon made an error but let's not forget the pitchers kept giving up hits afterwards. Thielbar was used 3 days in a row. Doran two days. He was fortunate to hang on against the Royals on Thursday. Friday not so great. Short pitching starts and bullpen overuse and losses a familiar theme throughout the season. Saturday we have two rookie pitchers starting with not much of a bullpen available. I feel sorry for our two starters. I have a feeling Rocco will let them hang out to dry if need be because of the way he mishandles the pitching staff. Not much has changed.

Why Haven’t the Twins Called Up Matt Wallner?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Wallner was put on the Twins taxi squad today. As for should he be called up, why not we currently have about 3-5 guys on the twins not performing. A couple of them namely both Hamilton's are lucky to be on a major league roster. Given their limited play it's perplexing as to why they sit and don't contribute anyway why are they there. May as well let Wallner and a couple of others replace a couple of Dr ead weights on the team. -
Nice sweep against Royals AAA team again. Let's see here:. We were swept by the Guardians on our home field just before the Royals series. That Cleveland series was supposed to be vital. Yet we played poor lackluster baseball at home and lost all 3. As much as I'd like to see us pounce on the Guardians and take 4 of 5 I just don't see it happening. We have Over starting Friday that hasn't pitched in a major league game in over two months. Then for the double header we have Winder and Varland. Varland doing very well, Winder up and down. Lineup is decimated by elongated injuries. Tough road to hoe. I don't think we have the horses left to compete. I sure hope I am wrong.

Who Benefits Most from Baseball’s New Rules?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'll be glad to see the shift go. But I'm sure we will see some legal variation of it. The shift this year gives the appearance of defenses used in slow pitch softball. The baseball field has become an on field video game. Disgraceful!! As for players taking advantage of hitting into the open shift at will, come on get serious. Pitchers are routinely throwing near and over 100 mph. Making it near impossible to "place" hits and bunts wherever they want. It's just too bad that after decades of thriving baseball attendance and ratings that MLB has had to make major rule changes that although well intended, are slowly destroying the game.- 27 replies

Yes. Very frustrating season for all the reasons mentioned in the well written article. Add to it the teams pit hing philosophy of short starts and not having an adequate bullpen to back them up. I believe the bullpen has lost over two dozen games. Carlos Correa doing very little offensively until the last month of the season. Terrible base running, terrible in game managing by Baldelli. Yes the injuries have been way too high. But to be honest many of those injured players were either not projected to help much or contribute to the major league club. The injuries piled up at the end making for a convenient excuse to a dissappointing season. When the team was relatively healthy, playing with a normal lineup, they blew many winnable games. Remember those 5 disastorus losses to Cleveland earlier this year? Yes it's been frustrating because the division was very winnable. It's frustrating to see it slip away. It's also frustrating to see the health players perform so poorly with very little energy.

Great game by Ryan. He did a nice job like he has all season pitching great against the poorest teams while struggling mightily against the top teams. But that's ok. At least we have a starting pitcher that can do that.

What’s Next for Twins Manager Rocco Baldelli?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Must be Baldellis agent. How about a little balanced article? You paint him out to be near perfect. I would much rather have Garden hire or Monitor as opposed to Baldelli. For people to leave Baldelli blameless and blame everything on injuries are clueless. Yes although I am not a Baldelli fan I do expect him back next year. If the FO doesn't quit signing bargain basement pitching, they may all be looking after next year. You and many people said 2022 they weren't going to compete and the real competitive season will be starting in 2023. If 2023 is supposed to be the start of a more annually competitive team, they have a LOT of work ahead of them- 67 replies

In the End, the 2022 Twins Never Stood a Chance
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It is true the Twins had plenty of injuries. Some people list them and make it appear they were all all stars. Most of the players on that elongated injury list were not expected to be major contributers. To leave the FO and manager blameless due to the injuries is disingenuous. Since June the twins have been playing poor uninspired baseball. The FO made some trades which thus far have not planned out. The FO created the pitching mess by signing has beens on the cheap. If you are going to go with short starts like 5 innings or less as the pitching philosophy you better have a very solid bullpen. The team is listless and shows no sense of urgency in it's approach. We have a manager that has poor in game management skills and questionable pitching management. The team has too many players that don't hustle. We don't advance runners and have very poor base running. But the plan is the plan and Rocco and coaches stick with it no matter what. It's what got us to this point. It's what is going to finish us off.- 94 replies

What Happens to the Twins Front Office for 2023?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
You must be their agent. Glowing reports on the FO. I too expect them to be back but I would sure expect to see a better plan, a new computer, a manager that is at least flexible, and some direction for the team. This team appeared rudderless for the last three months. If 2023 was always the year to be a great contender they have a long way to go.- 56 replies

It's done. Yes we still have plenty of games left with Cleveland and Chicago. But you have to be able to win those games. This team has shown very little inclination of putting it all together. There has been no fight in this team for several weeks. Why would we expect it to change now?

The 2022 Twins Are Now Built For October
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
A September push? They are 2-7 in their past 9 games. Some push. I will admit the injuries have been long but only a few of the players were expected to be producers. Buxton? He's hurt basically every year so you can't count on him anyway. I don't think the players play for Rocco. They say they like him. Who wouldn't when they aren't held accountable for poor play. Too many errors, mental errors, terrible base running, too many manager mistakes, too little clutch hitting and terrible pitching. The one thing is that when the season is done and we don't make the playoffs, they will blame it all on injuries. Then the whole process will start all over again. Bargain basement pitching. Twins have the most pitched games in baseball where the starting pitching doesn't go 5 innings. Their record during that time is 19-41.- 41 replies

Twins 4, Yankees 3: Fourth Time's the Charm
Whitey333 replied to David Youngs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Twins won. Not a great win. It was pretty sloppy like most of their games this year. Poor base running again. After celestino forgot how many outs there were after not advancing to third on a passed ball, he should have been benched. We have guys who play poor baseball and don't hustle. Uninspiring and no hustle baseball falls directly on the manager. Good job Correa. Although it took over 130 games, you finally got a clutch hit. Cleveland lined up their starting pitching this weekend to have their 3 best starters face us. The Twins not so much so. We have Bundy, Archer and TBD. Not exactly the starters that terrify other teams. 8 of next 11 games against Cleveland. Could be interesting. Maybe not.- 32 replies

Short Starts Are Not a Minnesota Twins Thing
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Great comments all. I believe the organization has failed miserably in the pitching development and usage. I'm not going to repeat all the great things the previous posters have posted. As I see this team in a continued down spiral over the past three months it's a sign that what they are doing isn't working yet they keep doing it. They should all be shown the door.- 86 replies

Pagan to me is the number one issue. The geniuses that say he has great stuff then send him out and watch him blow so many games. Don't these people see the results? He's terrible. He's been terrible for 3 years. It's a joke. Buxton? He's not a real disappointment. This is the 8th year now of injuries. We should be used to that by now. What's more frustrating is people expecting him to be something he isn't. That is a full time superstar player. And then act surprised when he is hurt again. We only have 7 more seasons of this. Sano? Time to let him go. Kirilloff is frustrating because he has raw talent but is always injured. I hope his career isn't over. Falvey trading for pitchers with injuries then acts surprised when they get injured. Lots of twins candidates this year. Good article! Well written!

Yankees 5, Twins 2: Judge Homer Beats Twins
Whitey333 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Typical Twins game. The Yankees didn't play that well and the twins, like normal, couldn't take advantage. Pagan should have been released months ago. He's been very bad for three seasons now. This year with the Twins he's been a joke. But he and the coaches say he has good stuff. Do any of these people watch the game? If some of these players come back soon Pagan should be the first to go.- 40 replies
