This is the strangest FO the organ I zation has had in many years. Strange signings, strange trades, not much roster stability. Way too much turnover.

Yes Rocco was totally outmanaged last night. UT that is really quite the normal thing. Also we are probably stuck with him for a while as Ken Rosenthal reports Baldelli is now signed through 2025 after twins pick up two options on him. Both Baldelli and Levine should be gone. This team us very boring and has been for over 2 and a half years. This organization is so messed up right now. Kiriloff needs to pkay everyday. They sure mess with the young players and placate the vastly overpaid and overrated veterans. When are we going to get a major league team in the Twin Cities?
-
This team continues to do the same thing it has done the past couple of years. That is lose very winnable games. And losing them in similar fashion for quite a while. We've git people saying they could have been 5-1. People blaming the regularly bad umpiring. But they didn't go 5-1. They went 2-4!! Good teams go 5-1 on that trip. At keast they are home now where they are a very good 14-8. Let's hope we get back on track.

No real surprises. But huge disappointments. This continues to be just an average team in a lousy division. If the bullpen is "taxed" it's because of very poor management. From the FO stocking the pen to Roccos Continual mismanagement of it. How can they be taxed. They had Thursday off. Looks like the pen took Friday off too. Yes Jax is becoming the latest reliever that's failing. He, just like Pagan and Colome before him just keeps getting sent out there day after day to lose games. Pathetic starting lineup as well. The lefty from Angel's has a higher batting average against lefties. Yet of course we stock the lineup with right handed stiffs like Garlick who shouldn't even be on the roster. The Twins will have some very good stretches of wins this year but I believe many more stretches of poor play and losses. They are what they are. Just an average team.
-
Continuing their road struggles I predict the Twins lose 2 of 3. With two lefties going in the series I am sure Rocco will give plenty of rest to Gallo, Kiriloff, Larnach. This players are going to have to start playing regularly against lefties. IMO the right hand platoons aren't all that great. This team us not great. They are decent with still a lot of holes in it. Go Twins. We should have swept the Dodgers. Gave away two games. It happened s way too often in the Baldelli era.
-
Yes it was obviously the wrong strategy. Rocco continues to show how not to handle a bullpen. Pagan is not a m never has been the guy to use in High pressure situations. He should not even be on the roster in my opinion. If Pagan represents the best option we have in the bullpen we are in a world of hurt. The FO inability/ unwillingness to upgrade the bullpen is really showing.

I agree that the other big issue in yesterday's game was the bases loaded no one out situation in which we didn't score again. But that shouldn't overshadow another pathetic performance by Pagan. He has literally cost the team 12 games over the past two years. Pagan must be DFA'd if the Twins are to be considered serious contenders. Also IMO Baldelli should be next. Like yesterday he consistently gets outmanaged.

The article like many of the new found analytics is cherry picking at its worst. What a joke of an article. This is exactly what is wrong with the new Era of modern baseball.
-
I agree with all the negativity directed at the umpires. Cuzzi is, and always has been one of the worst umpires in MLB. That being said, all you hear Baldelli talking about is how the umpiring cost them the game. That is the Twins refrain. If you lose a close game blame it on the umpires. What about leaving 15 runners on base? What about a woefil 4-17 with runners in scoring position? What about bases loaded and no outs in the 10th and only scoring one run? And that was on a walk. What about the winning run scoring on a bases loaded walk? He was in an 0-30 slump. How can you not throw strikes to him? How about a lineup that features Gallo at leadoff. Leadoff mind you is not where a lifetime. 199 hitter should be in the batting order. Go

Nice article. Great two games for the offense. The key is will any of it continue? Not talking 16 run games. But 4-5 runs per game would be great. Go Twins!

Week in Review: Turning a Corner?
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's funny what a two day offensive outburst can do. It's great but I'm not sold yet. It was only two games. Great but certainly more flukey than substantive. If the team can consistently score 4 or 5 runs a game they have a great chance. Two games out of 40 is nice to do. Let's see some ongoing offense. But It was great. -
Twins 11, Cubs 1: Twins Power Past Cubs
Whitey333 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Sands is proving again he is not a major league pitcher. Kiriloff I. Hope his wrist holds up. Kind of curious that Rocco pinch hit for him after he got three hits including 2 Homer's. I hope we don't have to wrap him in bubble wrap like they do Buxton Let's not get too excited after one very good offensive showing. Buxton is in a 0-25 slump. Correa does NOT look like he's coming out of a slump yet but I hope so. Gallo hits a mammoth homerun and people forget he is hitting around 190 which is near his 199 CAREER. I sure hope the offense can be more consistently good than bad. Go Twins- 34 replies

Jax is a decent, perhaps good reliever. He is not a great reliever. Great relievers get great results and don't whine a out "bad luck". I've said this since spring training: this team is a mediocre team, with a mediocre manager playing in a mediocre division. I keep hoping our star players wake up. I keep hoping our hitting as a whole wakes up. I keep hoping our mediocre bullpen holds up with its overuse so early. Just like last season. We're approaching the time when the players need to produce.

Strange team this Twins team. For many years we had good hitting but not so great pitching. Not we have very good starting pitching but can't hit in the clutch or much at all. Bringing Lee up now would probably do more harm than good.for.him. We however should not be afraid about who we would remove from the 40 man roster. There's plenty of candidates. Correa and Buxton should quit shrugging their shoulders and saying that's baseball. Buxton In an 0 for 25 slump should be making plans for improving, not making excuses.

Byron Buxton Making One Dimensional Work
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Buxton has and always will be an enigma of sorts. At times he flashes some brilliance at the plate but that's getting to be less and less. He's currently in a o for 20 streak and looks bad and overmatched again. He is tied for the team lead in strikeouts at 43 with the recently demoted Larnach. He is tied in RBI with 19 also with the recently departed Larnach. Bottom line is Buxton is just an average hitter. Unless you accept a .226 average as superstar status like Correas .189. IMO Larnach and Miranda were demoted in part due to the poor performance of the teams so called star players. Had they been performing to their capabilities, Larnach and Miranda may have still been on the team as this may have been less pressure for those guys to perform. I'm not even saying they shouldn't have been sent down. Their production in some regards has been better than the star players. Too bad they had to be used in par at least as scapegoats. -
Would the Twins Make a Shakeup at Hitting Coach?
Whitey333 replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
While I wished they would have hired a more experienced hitting coach, perhaps someone with major league playing experience, I am not in favor of firing the hitting coach. Most of the overpaid and underperforming star players we have on the team should still be able to hit but they are not. Put the blame on the players themselves. -
Wow. Pretty tough after watching Tuesday fiasco against Padres. Varland pitched very well. Offense and defense look meh. Go Twins

Padres 6, Twins 1: The Hits Just Keep Not Coming
Whitey333 replied to Steven Trefz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I've been saying for the past couple of years that this team is one of the most boring, undisciplined, lifeless Twins team I've seen in many years. Yesterday just shows how bad they are. Correa has been here his second season and really has only played well the last month and a half last year. That was against a lot of minor league pitchers playing out the season. It is fair to mention his salary. Don't we expect at least some level of competency in a player earning 33 million per year? He's like 1 for 17 with two outs with runners in scoring position. Last night he left 6 players on base. I believe he makes up about 25% of team payroll. Same with Gallo and Buxton. Together the three of them are making around 61 million this year. It's amazing what little 61 mil pays for now days. This team is disgraceful and shows no signs of enthusiasm and discipline. That part of the problem lies with Baldelli.- 58 replies

Great well written article. Twins are what they are. A very boring team that can't even play station to station baseball. The going for the home run type of swing in every situation is ludicrous. It obviously isn't working. Great pitching, which is unusual in Minnesota is being wasted. What a shame. I hope things improve soon but I'm not sure how it will change.

Great article. Keep it positive. If anyone is going to the games this week I would advise plenty of coffee and caffeine pills to stay awake. I still maintain that the last 2 now going on 3 years have been among the most boring, undisciplined, underperforming twins teams I have seen in a long time. All we get are excuses from management. Let's see some results.

Twins 3, Guardians 4: Klutzy in Cleveland
Whitey333 replied to Hans Birkeland's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Love the Twins and follow them daily. But I can't let my loyalty overshadow what I see on the field. I like home runs but relying on them to play winning baseball seems a little counter productive. We have very little clutch hitting , sloppy defense too often, no base stealing to speak of. Station to station baseball is boring. Yes they are in first place in a very boring central division. That doesn't make them a first place caliber team. Correa is proving he is way overrated and overpaid. The only time he hit well last year was when the Twins were well out of the race and he was facing a lot of sub major league pitchers trying to prove themselves. It just bogles the mind how many Correa fans there are here. No wonder he likes it here. There's very little pressure to perform. You don't get much for 33 million a year anymore. It's time for the star players to start putting up the offense on a regular basis. Since they started the season at 4-0 with 3 of those coming against a very poor Royals team, the Twins are 15-15. Probably all that we can expect from this bunch. -
Is Bailey Ober Sustainable?
Whitey333 replied to Ted Wiedmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
What a strange article. Talk about over analyzing and creating issues that aren't there. He was denied a starting spot this spring due to him having an option left and this FO treatment of him. He's pitched better than both Maeda and Mahle both of which probably won't be here next year. He's proven he can handle the position and deserves the opportunity to prove it. He may get injured you say due to his history? What about Mahle? He's been on the injury list several times since he was traded here. I doubt his credibility as a major league starter.
