  1. What a pitiful performance by the Twins. Detroit had played a double header the previous day and lost two to Atlanta. They were the team that had to travel, not the Twins. Tigers only had won one game thus whole month. Yet they outplayed and out managed the Twins. They had more energy and drive. The Twins led 4-1 and had no offense after the fourth innings. This is exactly why you can't take this Twins team as a serious contender. They are too inconsistent and fundamentally flawed. Yes they may win the division, maybe not. And winning 3 of 4 against the tigers is the only acceptable outcome in this series. Splitting the series is palpable but not good. Anything less is disastorous.
  2. The Twins are doing a great disservice to the development of their young core. They need to play everyday. They are doING their best, so it seems, on ruining their development and careers. If the players they drafted are as good as all the hype they've been given, they should be regular players. If not, then the people that are managing them, i.e. Rocco and the FO should be fired. Yes Kiriloff and others should play before the veteran under achievers we have now. This team us so poorly managed. Any wonder we have been floundering around 500 this year in a joke of a division. What they are doing clearly isn't working for the talent level they have. Something needs to change but most likely won't.
  3. Who isn't frustrated or downright sick of the status of Buxton? He's been a part time player fir 8 seasons now due to injuries. Unfortunately he's one of those fragile players that's hurt all the time. I think he squeezed out more than a fair deal for himself in that deal. Not bad for a part time player that you can't count on.
  4. Twins jacking around like they do with Larnach is another example of how poorly they develop and treat young players IMO. They jack around with Juluen, wallner, and so many others in the past. Larnach isn't great but I believe he us still second in RBIs on the team. It seems once they get here they play sporadically, are pinch hit for, or benched for some veterans that are grossly underperformed. I would take any of them over Kepler
  5. Buxton is the problem. Every year it's the same. How many games will he miss due to injuries. Not being able to play center field hurts the team in two positions: center field and DH. He us NOT a good DH. He has hit only .177 since May 1st. But we can always Blane it on injuries like we have for 8 years now. Sometimes I feel like the Twins do their prospects a great disservice by not letting them play regularly once they are here.
  6. Yes it's time to move on from Polanco. He's been very good here but hus injuries have mounted the past couple of seasons. But the Twins seem to have this thing about sticking with veterans too long and being known as a given for injured players to just continually rehab and collect a big league paycheck. Kepler and Pagan need to go and soon as well. It appears they are just taking up space and may be blocking the development of younger players. Polanco has been one of my fave Twins the past few seasons. But tge writing is in the wall.
  7. Plain and simple Pagan shouldn't have been on the team this year. He has not been good for three years now. Too much whining about the call on Kiriloff. Yes it was close. Maybe tricky tacky. But it's his job to keep track of the pitch clock. Plus he could have simply called timeout. I don't think he had used his timeout for that at bat. I'm nit a fan of the umpires especially the home plate ump. The ball and strike calls this year have been a joke. Twins are always quick to blame umpires, bad luck, injuries or whatever is convenient for blown losses to deflect blame on manager and front office. Fact is they blew ANOTHER game this year that should have.been a win. These losses will bite them by the end of the season.
  8. Garlick situation is laughable. You are counting on Kiriloff for the future but replace him with a guy that should not be on the roster. Garlick is an automatic out. His strike out rate is nearing 39%. If
  9. Twins need to make the changes sooner rather than later. We have some dead weight on the roster we could improve on. This team is at 500 because they are a 500 team. This team seems stuck in quicksand. We need an influx of fresh players with some life in them.
  10. I love the comments on if we bring up wallner or Julien where would they play? Who would they replace? Come on this team is bad and going nowhere. There's plenty of candidates on this team.
  11. How long is everyone waiting for the tides to turn and see this team go on a roll? It's been 2 and a half years. As I've said many tines. IMO this is the most boring twins team I've seen in60 years of following my Twins. They play undisciplined baseball with no drive or fire. Nothing has changed the last couple of years.
  12. Buxton getting a team friendly deal? Come on 100 mil for an 8 year part time player isn't bad. Buxton has been an overall bust. Sure he has his streaks where he hits very well then longer streaks when he looks like a minor leaguer. I think Buck negotiated a good deal for himself. He's been a huge frustrating disappointment. I wouldn't count on much help from h I m this year ( again)
  13. I've always been a veteran player first guy but not much anymore. Correa and Buxton are a joke. Buxton has been for about 8 years now due to so much time being injured. Correa hasn't done much in two years now. Remember his numbers were boosted by a very good last month of the season. Those stats can just as easily be attributed to facing minor league pitchers late in the season. And a salary drive. Most of the time he has been mediocre at best. Gallo is Gallow a below 200 lifetime hitter that strikes out nearly at 40%. Kepler is was he is: a wasted up Twin. I'm starting to side with playing the young players full time and see what they can do. At keast they may show a little life.
  14. Garlick pinch hitting for kiriloff? Really??? Yes we all know the lefty righty thing just as we all knew Garlick would strike out. Garlick is like 3 for 17 against lefties. If they think kiriloff is as good as they tell us then he should be in the lineup regularly even against lefties. There's so much wrong with this team and much of it comes down to team philosophy and player management. Throw in an incompetent manager and you get a very boring team. I love Rwins baseball but the past 3 seasons have been some of the most boring teams I've ever seen. The fans deserve much better than we are being force fed.
  15. I will miss Arraez for his hitting and his enthusiasm. He was a fan favorite. But I guess for most of you that doesn't matter. This team and their "style" of baseball is totally boring. They play with very little enthusiasm and drive. The type of play, swing and miss at all costs produces not much excitement. I too have watched the Twins since the 60s and the past two and half years have produced some if the most boring baseball I've seen in twins history. Plus the past couple of.years we sure haven't gotten much.production from some of our so called superstars. I sure can't see where it shows that they are going in the right direction. One game above 500 in a sandlot infested division is not a cause for celebration but concern. It's time for the players to play up to their potential and beyond. .
  16. Someone said the Twins offense was pathetic yesterday because Buxton and Gallo weren't in the lineup? Have you seen them help the team in the lineup? Sure they have hit a few Homer's between them. But very few RBI. Gallo is hitting .188 striking out at 39% of time. Buxton, has hit .177 since May 1. Hus strikeout rate is over 38%. They have been automatic outs most if the time. This team is so outclassed by Tampa it's laughable. People say we'll we are still in first place. Really? Get serious. This team shows no life or spank. It hasn't over the past three years now. This a very boring team playing very boring baseball whomever us in the lineup.
  17. Too bad. With a little bit of discipline Twins could have swept Cleveland. Starting pitching is still great. Sending Wallner down was a huge mistake. Lefty vs lefty or no. Who would you rather see bat Garlick or Wallner? IMO Garlick should be sent back down or released. He surely isn't better than Wallner. Also when Maeda comes back I hope he doesn't take Ober or Louie Verlander. They have earned their spots and pitched well. To lose their spot in the rotation to a nice but washed up MEda on the last year of his contract is criminal. Speaking of criminal, how about Correa, Buxton, and Gallo? Grand larceny by them to extort big pay days from the Twins with their poor performance. Buxton, when he isn't nursing some sort of injury is relegated to full time DH. He has hit .177 since may 1st. Correa and his 33 mill per season has been hovering around 200 all year. He has hit into more double plays this year than he has hit home runs. How about Gallo? His 188 batting average is typical of his career. Yes he has 11 Homer's but has only 23 RBI. His strikeout rate is approaching 39%. Add the great Kepler in there under 200 and still plays regularly without producing. This is not oh its early. We are approaching 40% of season played. It's not early anymore folks. This is the type of team we have been force fed for the past three years now. Nothing changes nor will it with management signed on for the next few years.
  18. Great article. And we got "stuck" with Lopez who was doing well with Baltimore. He comes here and regressed immensely. Coaching? Just saying
  19. Very good article!! I agree with your listing. For me Correa is definitely number one. Even last year he only played real well the last month of the season. Buxton and Correa should be carrying this team. I used to get upset when Rocco left one or both of them out of the lineup. Now It doesn't matter because they have been a detriment to the team especially offensively. At least the younger players show some life.
  20. Correa is overpaid and definitely over hyped and overrated. He's s good player. But not even the biggest Correa fans can say he is playing like a superstar. He needs to play up to and beyond hus potential if thus club is to be taken seriously
  21. Good article. I love Duran but I can't help but feel a little nervous each time he pitches. I'm worried about someone throwing that hard will inevitably injury his arm and require Tommy John. He seems like a Tommy John surgery waiting to happen. I sure hope I'm wrong!
  22. Yes a very entertaining game. Baldellis decision to pull Gray with such a low pitch count was questionable at best. His decision to leave Duran in there for a second inning appears right, at least for one game. He will be unavailable Tuesday and maybe Wednesday as well. But it was nice to see Baldelli actually going fir a win. But I realize it's only one game. It's funny: people always use the adage it's only one game when they play poorly or give away a game. But when the finally play a good game, as in one game people talk playoffs and world series. The it's only one game theory then goes out the window. Show some good positive consistency. You are only as good as your next game. Go Twins. Let's take the series.
  23. Until the overpaid and underachieving so- called superstars stop whining about bad fans and bad umpires, this team is going nowhere. Just like the past two seasons. This team continues to play boring baseball with no sense of urgency or fire, just like their manager
  24. Hoping Lewis can bring some spark to this team. I'm thinking Twins continue the trend and lose 2 of 3 to Houston. I'm also thinking we may win 3 of 4 from Cleveland this weekend. Then everyone will think the Twins gave righted the ship. But we will be brought down to reality on the ensuing road trip by some good teams. This team management is so strange. They seem to do a great disservice to some of the younger players. We have no offense yet we send down Wallner who just reached base 8 times in a row. Go figure. They hang on to veterans way too long and treat you g players with disdain.
