  1. injuries not withstanding, the Twins deserve all the badmouthing. In fact they have earned it. Losing is one thing. But not being at all competitive is another. The poor averages now called the Sano line? Interesting as he is hitting .270 for the Angel's. I'm so tired of the it's a marathon comments. I just don't think they care about games in April. It shows But this year they may not have the horses to take over the central like last year. Plus the can always blame the injuries. They got it made.
  2. I'm glad you know all the answers. Perhaps you should be hired by MLB to help solve this crisis lol. Seriously though I've heard many major league pitchers from the past say there is too much emphasis on spin rates and sweepers and not pitching. As one pitcher said, give me a pitcher not a thrower. Plus he mentioned pitchers don't take enough time off during the off season to rest up their bodies. Who knows for sure what the answer is.
  3. At least Larnach has some proven decent major league results. Wallner? Not so much. The Twins really screw up with some of their younger talent. I feel bad for guys like Wàllner and Larnach. Wallner looks totally lost at the plate right now
  4. Buxton is one of the most over-hyped and over rated players the Twins have ever had. Yes he shows flashes of brilliance fir a week or two at a time. That does not make him an MVP candidate. I feel bad for him because of all the injuries he has endured. But whether because of the injuries or at least part therein he is just another average player. Nothing more ir nothing less
  5. Twins manipulate Alcala to their benefit like they do to most young players. 8 innings and he needs rest? Oh please. Roc os explanation was sophomoric at best. Why would any young player want to have a career with the Twins? They get used and abuses here then spit out when Twins don't need them.
  6. Another lethargic loss. I'm a Varland fan but he needs to at least be taken out of the rotation and probably sent to St. Paul. Go Twins.
  7. I have no idea who Bowman is on the pitching staff. Funny how twins use their roster. SWR pitched great against Detroit. Acala, his sometimes wildness not withstanding, I don't think has given up an earned run in his last 8 innings, both get sent down to St. Paul. I understand options. Just seems not right to reward 2 guys doing a good job by sending them to the minors. The Twins have a long history of that.
  8. Good report and good news. We need Carlos if we are to be serious contenders.
  9. Speaking of Buxton; does anyone know why he wasn't in starting lineup yesterday? He's not in Sundays starting lineup either. I guess it doesn't matter because he's not producing much. Just curious if he is hurt again
  10. Great sweep Twins. To make the two wins Saturday even more important the Twins need to win Sunday and start a long term positive run. It's funny what a doubleheader sweep will do to enhance positive vibes. I still need a lot of convincing to be able to claim this team legit.
  11. Vazquez? I know the eye test doesn't matter anymore. My eyes don't deceive me. He's just not very good. With Correa out and Buxton not in todays starting lineup, looks like a minor league lineup. Who knows maybe it will work. Buxton is only hitting around 220 with 0 homeruns and 5 RBI. The great Carlos Santana is hitting all of .114 with 0 homeruns and 1 RBI. Good luck Twins
  12. Yes very frustrating indeed. It's going to be tough if Correa is out for any substantial length of time. He was actually playing very good. But injuries not withstanding this team continues to play listless baseball. Can we chalk up yesterday's subpar performance by Lopez to the weather? Perhaps but it didn't overly affect Detroits pitching. The final score was 8-2. Twins blaming cold weather, rain outs, too many days off, poor umpiring, injuries, is a tiring refrain. The team, like the first half of last year is becoming unwatchable.
  13. Yes. They were sleepwalking the first half of last year only woke up partially enough to win the Central with a number of teams that were more than sleepwalking. The Twins are sleepwalking so far again this year. It makes for very boring baseball. We need to beat up on the Tigers. I hope we show more drive soon. They seem to just go through the motions.
  14. Yes finally a good win. Let's see. We only managed 6 hits, went 1 for 9 with RISP. We did some good things, like winning. It was. I believe, the only win on the homestead. We still only have 2 more wins than the lowly White Sox. I am glad we won. But let's not get too carried away here. Just as people say it's only one game no big deal when they lose, the same can be said of winning. It was a nice win but only if we build on it. Go Twins
  15. Another classic example of over analyzing aspects of baseball to create a story. The geek heads have taken over the sport these past few seasons and MLB isn't better for it. The best thing about this article was use of the word ameliorate. Well done.
  16. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Another early season disaster. It's OK. Rocco says games this early don't matter. It's obvious when only 17,000 made it to the game tonight and 15,000 the previous night. Were talking the Dodgers here. Not the Royals. Right now the team is very boring just like last year's start. It's tough to play such rotten boring baseball that people don't go. A very poor spring training didn't excite the fan base much. It continues to bore us the first 9 games. Go Twins!!
  17. Let's not blame the Twins poor start to injuries. Yes the pitching staff has been hit hard with injuries. Yet the pitching continues to be an otherwise bright spot. Losing Lewis hurts. Kepler also but not as much. We need offensive help as well. Any retread hitters want to give us a try?
  18. Great article. It certainly explains Julien. What explains the rest of the players malaise? Correa and Kiriloff seem to be about the only offense on the team. So what theories explain each of the other players? Maybe they just aren't as good as all the hype?
  19. As always Baldelli makes questionable moves. Like pulling Ober after 5 innings and only 68 pitches plus he was rolling. Especially since the bullpen has already been overworked. The platoon pinch hitting is fun. Margot got 2 of the three hits including a homerun but was pinch hit for by that Wallner who has a propensity to strike out. So he struck out. The article blames in part the soft hits the dodgers got and poor home plate umpiring again. The pitching, with all the injuries, has done remarkably well. The offense is in its usual I don't care it's early season mode. This team doesn't have any fire. As normal they say games in April don't matter. Well maybe the fans realize it too. Only 15,000 showed up to see the mighty Dodgers. Great job Twins. Let's make Tuesday no doz night. All fans receive the caffeine pills to try to stay awake.
  20. Yes the home plate umpiring has been going downhill for quite some time. Saturdays "performance" was a joke. Quite honestly that umpire should have been suspended or demoted. Hopefully someone talked to him about his game calling. 22 missed strikes with 19 against the Twins is not very good. However bad the Twins offensive performance has been I find it equally as bad as people blaming wallner and other twin hitters for the terrible calls. After watching a lot of games around the league the home plate umpiring is a big topic around baseball. Right up there with all the injuries to pitchers.
  21. Very nice article. Well thought out. I don't know what to make of the Twins situation. I'm very glad that some of the other central division teams are showing life. The Twins need the competition. What is annoying to me is their lack of energy and telling us the games in April don't matter because it's so early. They were flat and unproductive in spring training and continue at the start of the season. The all or nothing approach at the plate is great when it's working but very boring when it is not which is most of the time.
  22. Well I agree the home plate umpire yesterday was terrible! For a while there I though it must have been Angel Hernandez because no one is worse then him. But I was wrong. He so much added to the frustration of another non productive day at the park. But it's OK. Remember these games in April don't count lol. A previous poster was right. This is the way they played fir 2/3 of season last year. It's despicable. Pitching has been pretty decent but the team as a whole has been very flat. Just like their flat spring training. Oh that's right spring training doesn't matter either, I keep forgetting. But at least the poor umpiring was enable for Morneau to start with excuses early and frequently throughout the game about why the Twins offense could do nothing. Otherwise he wouldn't have had much to talk about.
  23. I get a kick out of how the announcers on Thursday almost justify the Twins poor play by their early schedule. They said they had a long spring training( yes finishing with the second worst record in all of spring training makes it long) then had to open in Kansas City and Milwaukee before returning home. Good grief! The Guardians had just flown in from playing on the west coast. They had spring training too I believe lol. Then they had to come to Target field for the Twins home opener in front of a big crowd and they hadn't had a day off like the Twins. They outplayed our Twi s. Come on, stop with the lame excuses.
  24. Good article. It's very early but so far the results are meh. I'm guessing gullible people like me are to blame. We feed off all their over hype and believe they care and are good. They are what they are: a middling ball club that has the great advantage of playing in such a mediocre division. Go Twins.
  25. Great article Seth. A very mediocre team with a very mediocre manager is a terrible combination. Way too many opportunities wasted. Way too many strikeouts. Way too many excuses made . Go Twins!
