  1. Yes another in a long line of Twins off season moves and non moves. I just really question the FO moves and the direction the Team is headed. What is the plan? I understand that ownership cut payroll. I think they plan on cutting it again next year or keeping it flat. Does that mean we go through a few more seasons of middle of the road performances. With 4 or 5 players making upwards of 70% of payroll something has to give. Perhaps we will see more young, unproven and cheap prospects finally get their chance. At least then we may have some indication of the teams direction. Farmer is a decent player. He deserves better. But if they aren't going to use him then move him so he can play on some other team.
  2. I just don't see the keeping Kepler. I wish they could. I read someplace, I wish I remember where, that the Twins are considering cutting payroll again next year. They already have about 35 million tied up in Correa, 17 million in Buxton, about 18 mill in Lopez, and 10 million in Vasquez. That's already around 80 million of a 125 million payroll. Not much left over for any additions.
  3. At some point they need to find out which prospects and young players can play regularly at the major league level. You don't do that by making them part time players forever tied to Roccos strict and unproven adherence to a barbaric platoon system. IMO this FO and manager has ruined and/or hampered many a young players career.
  4. Pablo Lopez for Cy Young? Have you been watching? He's pretty mediocre so far.
  5. Not pretty but pretty good anyway. Just win baby!! Twins still have too many players scuffling at the plate. Hopefully it will pick up when Lewis returns. Duran velo was good. Sorry can't get used to that. Duran velocity was good lol.
  6. Byron Buxton has been nothing but a huge disappointment for most of his career. I feel sorry for him in that we've never had the opportunity to see a full time Buxton. Also I notice how people say that he can carry a team. Yes it's possible but he's rarely around to do that. Also remember he's had many of those 2 for 30 slumps in his career that people seem they don't happen to him. Correa is a very good shortstop and decent hitter. Is he producing at a 35-37 million a year player? No. But in fairness he isn't surrounded by a lot of talent. But 50 million between the two plusn10 million paying Vasquez, and the near 18 million that Lopez is getting this year is all way too much for a team with a payroll around 125 million. Doesn't leave much $ for improving the roster.
  7. Meetings, schmeetings. Just win baby. Now that we had a players meeting only and won 2 straight games against a reeling Nationals team we can now print our playoff tickets lol. Go Twins!
  8. Yes you have to have more than one good pitch. Location and movement are essential. I think he will be fine. My concern is with possible or likely injury at some point. He throws so hard and is so dominant that a likely future tommy john surgery seems inevitable. I surely hope not but with his velocity I'm not sure he can avoid it. Yes I used the word velocity instead of velo. I hope that passes the censors.
  9. Forget the lefty/ righty bs for a while. For example play Kepler regularly. I realize he may be gone at the end of the season but you need to play your better players more regular. I realize we are "only" 50 games or so into the season but it's a mediocre team run by a mediocre FO and managed by a less than mediocre manager. It is whaf it is. That is a very frustrating team for fans to follow and sink your teeth into. Notice I didn't say watch as that has been near impossible for many of us these past few years. That's a different story for another time.
  10. I find it strange that the Twins continually short change the bullpen each year. If you are using your bullpen to finish up the last 30 or 40% of each ball game. They better be good. Bullpen have become increasingly important in recent years as "modern analytics" dictates that 6 or 7 innings for a starting pitcher is now the norm. That it's meant to be such a good thing to go 6 innings. It used to be a starting pitcher wasn't doing his job if he didn't pitch a complete game or at least have that as his realistic goal each game. Then the bullpen was clearly secondary and you could afford to cut costs there. It's funny how we demand less and less of our starting pitchers inbtodays game. Yet we pay them more than ever. Being paid amongst the highest players on the team. And yet they get injured at a record pace. We place so much more importance on today's game for the bullpen but teams use and abuse them and pay them poorly compared to other players.
  11. Luckily I can't watch it either thanks to Dave St. Peter and the Twins screwing that up too. I listen on the radio. I really miss Corey Provus on the radio. Kris Atterberry is ok. Glen Perkins and Paul Molitor are very good. I even like Gladden. But Atterberry spends more time talking about his experiences throughout his broadcasting career. And while it's OK for a while, he never stops. Do they realize there is a game going on that they are supposed to broadcast? Just a rant I've been holding in for a long time. The game stunk. There's no life, no fire in this team. They couldn't even blame it on the umpire Monday Night. Very pitiful performance. Can it get any worse?
  12. Wow. We need to turn this around and soon. It's one thing to lose but playing so inept baseball is disgraceful. We continually get out played, out hustled, and out managed. I hope the Nationals take it easy on us.
  13. Well it's obvious the season was just saved by Buxton gracing us with his presence. Yes he's an excellent center fielder but is just an average hitter at tge plate. We all want him to be healthy and do well but we are relegated to wondering when his next trip to the IL will occur.
  14. Another very poor performance. Not totally unexpected. They aren't that good. Since their 12 game winningbstreak I believe they are 5-9. Again we started a b lineup with a lefty starting for Cleveland. But the radio announcers on WCCO have it solved. About all you heard from them other than all the bs they banter about that has little to do with the game being played was whining about bad umpiring, bad luck, and bad bounces. It's getting old because that's all they talk about. I guess since tge team went in the tank there isn't much else to talk about.
  15. It's so disgusting to watch major league umpires calling balls and strikes. But having said that it's just as disgusting, maybe more so, to have the Twins announcers, manager, and fans continually blame the losses on bad luck, bad bounces, and bad umpiring. Yes I agree it was it's normally bad self. But only getting 4 hits a game isn't going to cut it. What's frustrating is that MLB does nothing to improve home plate umpiring. They should at least look into it.
  16. Not much to say about an article so biased and filled with holes it looks like a huge piece of Swiss cheese. This is still just an average team, with a less than average manager, playing in still a very weak division. They can't beat the big boys regularly, or much at all. They thrive on beating the also rans just enough to stay competitive in a non competitive division. What we saw against the Yankees was an overall putrid display. The Twins are now 5-6 since winning 12 in a row. That's probably more realistic of this team.
  17. Losing to the Yankees at home I'd bad enough but to not even be competitive. They didn't even show up for the series. Terrible outfield play all series long. They showed no life or desire at all. It really shows the gap between a decent team like the Twins and a very good team like the Yankees. Getting swept was bad. But getting swept in this manner really sucked.
  18. So why have your two better hitters of late in Miranda and Jeffers not starting? I know people don't like us to witch about lineups, but really? Does anyone know why our top or and rbi guy catcher is sitting today?
  19. Interesting that you call out fans for extrapolating a bad start to the season for Santana and projecting it out. Yet you do the same by In essence implying this recent hot streak is either normal. You can't pick and choose which hot streaks to use to " prove" a point. Let's see how the season plays out.
  20. It's funny that when the Twins were winning it was all great. Now people are making excuses again. Look, Buxton and especially Lewis have been out a while. Yes and now Stewart. But to suddenly blame our little stretch of poor play to the injury list is absolutely ludicrous. What is frustrating is that the Yankees are just better than us and we generally are very good at helping them. Castro not knowing how many outs there are is totally inexcusable! With all the scoreboards showing all the information that is embarrassing. It's also a good reason why people like playing here. Absolutely no responsibility or consequences for playing with your head stuck up something. I would not have pulled him there but would have replaced him after the inning. That's why the players love Rocco. No accountability. It's a bad look for an MLB team.
  21. My concern was the mi or league starting lineup put up by Rocco at a home game. You need to play your best players against the best teams. Forget the lefty/righty bs. Plus the Twins are 24 out of 30 in home attendance. The fans shelling out big bucks at home deserve better. The outfield put out there was strictly minor league. This is why Rocco is not one the better managers. He may have some decent analytical insight but has very little game management. It appeared right off the bat that he had little interest in winning the game or even being competitive. Chalk up another loss by Baldelli.
  22. Great article. Now if we can just get Fangraphs to play out the season statistically we won't need players, fans, or umpires. Sometimes it appears baseball is just turning into one big electronic, computerized, analytical fantasy league lol. Great start by Twins so far. Go Twins
  23. The frustrating part with Baldelli is he's so inflexible and rigid. Unwilling or unable to do much in game managing at all. Remember his philosophy is its the process not the results that we are interested in. He's mentioned that word for word over the time he's been here. I think analytics are fine if they are used in a collaboration with commonsense sense eye test managing. I think he is an OK manager but clearly gets out managed in many games. Go Twins
  24. Good article. Look I love homeruns as much as anyone but I will take wins over Homer's anytime. The Twins are finally playing fun to watch baseball. Base runners and hitting add excitement despite Roccos unwillingness to steal more often. One of the most boring games I've seen was earlier this year between the Twins and Dodgers that included something like 27 strikeouts between the two teams. It's funny how many people say strikeouts don't matter when you are hitting. But yet those same people say they are great when your pitchers get them. Baseball has changed a lot the past few years and not for the better IMO. Go Twins.
  25. Very impressive win for the Twins. Ober continues to be solid. I've never been a Sands fan but he needs a break. Try not to have him pitch for a few days. Not sure about Kiriloff. He seems to hit the wall off and on throughout the season. Is it an injury, just a slump? Not sure what they should do with him. Maybe he will snap out of it. But to be honest there are 3 or 4 other players on the team that have been struggling worse. Enjoy the day off Monday and let's go after the Yankeed. Go Twins!
