  1. Yes a poorly umpires game especially at home plate. But that didn't cause the loss. The Twins just have a meltdown when they have to play the Yankees. Thank goodness Thursday is the last day we play them during the regular season. What was just as annoying as the Twins loss was listening to Kris Atterberry lament the lack of umpiring skills of the home plate umpire. It was worthwhile mentioning the poor umpiring but this was his theme ALL game long. It was obnoxious. Just like he normally is.
  2. Yes the ump missed some balls and strikes.. the worst on on the Judge walk that didn't cost us anything. If we are being totally honest you will note the Twins pitchers got several pitches called strikes that were outside. But it is very frustrating I agree. It did not cost us the game.
  3. I know it is hard to publish new and interesting articles each and every day but this is ridiculous. A well written article but come on. This is all we have to chat about? One thing I will say is how much I miss Provus on the radio. Since I'm one of the thousands that is unable to watch the Twins I have to put up with Atterberry and his continually mundane stories not related to tge game at hand. He has a great voice, is extremely informative but never shuts up. His color commentators, Perkins, Molitor, and Gladden are great and seem to pull him through. I miss provus on the radio broadcasts.
  4. Probably the right decision but I would have preferred a dfa of Margot. But I knew they weren't going to do that. IMO this shows in part some of the pitfalls of playing prospects, ie young players, like him and Miranda and kiriloff and larkin and others only part time. By being so rigid on the left right platoon and giving the quick hook to players because of some analytic controlled mandate by Rocco is hurting the players development. How can you look in the mirror and say you are sending a player down to get more everyday at bats then they sit almost half the time while on the big club? I think the Twins have done a great disservice to their prospects and not getting near enough production out of their veterans. I don't think this is a long term solution for utilizing your prospect base.
  5. My vote would be to dump Margot. But perhaps the geniuses in the FO will make it simple and "find" a player to put on the I jury list. As a side note: I can't stand this platoon system especially with the younger players and prospects. How are they going to develop when they wind up being part time players? How do you judge Miranda, Kiriloff. Larnach, Julienne, etc al when they play so sporadically? I think the Twins are hurting the development of their younger talent. A good bench is fine but this strict adherence to platooning is ridiculous. Most of your best teams play a regular lineup day in day out barring injuries. Of course it's impossible to KNOW if the Twins would be better or not since they only play the way they do. Anyway Go Twins.
  6. This organization is better than player evaluations?? Better than what? He's been exceptional?? He's been decent yes. But let's not make him out to be a hall of fame or savior of the franchise. Another typical over hypedbstory about an average part time player on a average team
  7. I agree. We should not trade for him. But I wouldn't be surprised if the Twins made the move. Why? Well because he is a pitcher with injury issues. The Twins seem to love to trade for these types of players then whine when they go down to injury. Plus they seem to enjoy getting hosed big time when trading prospects for questionable and injured talent. I'm sure teams like the Reds and Orioles appreciate us lol. No trade for this guy please.
  8. As a long time fan I absolutely hate Roccos platoon system. It's too rigid. Maybe that's because he doesn't know how to actually manage a baseball game.
  9. One good outing in the past 5 for Lopez. Let's see him string a few GOOD outings together. That's what he's paid 18 million per year for. We need him. Go Twins.
  10. We switched to Fubo for a one week trial. The Twins were on everyday. That was great. But Fubo doesn't carry a lot of the channels we watch like all the Turner channels. So we kept Hulu. We switched several times to be able to watch h the Twins, Wild, etc. But not anymore. I'm done with that. The Twins have been promising us for nearly 5 years they will fix it. We still can't watch the Twins. They obviously don't care about their fans. They have blown it.
  11. Games like yesterday happen. On Thursday they face another good pitcher in Brady Singer. He appears to be finally turning the corner for the Royals. However I'm hopeful the Twins will win today. Go twins.
  12. Yes another in a long line of Twins off season moves and non moves. I just really question the FO moves and the direction the Team is headed. What is the plan? I understand that ownership cut payroll. I think they plan on cutting it again next year or keeping it flat. Does that mean we go through a few more seasons of middle of the road performances. With 4 or 5 players making upwards of 70% of payroll something has to give. Perhaps we will see more young, unproven and cheap prospects finally get their chance. At least then we may have some indication of the teams direction. Farmer is a decent player. He deserves better. But if they aren't going to use him then move him so he can play on some other team.
  13. I just don't see the keeping Kepler. I wish they could. I read someplace, I wish I remember where, that the Twins are considering cutting payroll again next year. They already have about 35 million tied up in Correa, 17 million in Buxton, about 18 mill in Lopez, and 10 million in Vasquez. That's already around 80 million of a 125 million payroll. Not much left over for any additions.
  14. At some point they need to find out which prospects and young players can play regularly at the major league level. You don't do that by making them part time players forever tied to Roccos strict and unproven adherence to a barbaric platoon system. IMO this FO and manager has ruined and/or hampered many a young players career.
  15. Pablo Lopez for Cy Young? Have you been watching? He's pretty mediocre so far.
  16. Not pretty but pretty good anyway. Just win baby!! Twins still have too many players scuffling at the plate. Hopefully it will pick up when Lewis returns. Duran velo was good. Sorry can't get used to that. Duran velocity was good lol.
  17. Byron Buxton has been nothing but a huge disappointment for most of his career. I feel sorry for him in that we've never had the opportunity to see a full time Buxton. Also I notice how people say that he can carry a team. Yes it's possible but he's rarely around to do that. Also remember he's had many of those 2 for 30 slumps in his career that people seem they don't happen to him. Correa is a very good shortstop and decent hitter. Is he producing at a 35-37 million a year player? No. But in fairness he isn't surrounded by a lot of talent. But 50 million between the two plusn10 million paying Vasquez, and the near 18 million that Lopez is getting this year is all way too much for a team with a payroll around 125 million. Doesn't leave much $ for improving the roster.
  18. Meetings, schmeetings. Just win baby. Now that we had a players meeting only and won 2 straight games against a reeling Nationals team we can now print our playoff tickets lol. Go Twins!
  19. Yes you have to have more than one good pitch. Location and movement are essential. I think he will be fine. My concern is with possible or likely injury at some point. He throws so hard and is so dominant that a likely future tommy john surgery seems inevitable. I surely hope not but with his velocity I'm not sure he can avoid it. Yes I used the word velocity instead of velo. I hope that passes the censors.
  20. Forget the lefty/ righty bs for a while. For example play Kepler regularly. I realize he may be gone at the end of the season but you need to play your better players more regular. I realize we are "only" 50 games or so into the season but it's a mediocre team run by a mediocre FO and managed by a less than mediocre manager. It is whaf it is. That is a very frustrating team for fans to follow and sink your teeth into. Notice I didn't say watch as that has been near impossible for many of us these past few years. That's a different story for another time.
  21. I find it strange that the Twins continually short change the bullpen each year. If you are using your bullpen to finish up the last 30 or 40% of each ball game. They better be good. Bullpen have become increasingly important in recent years as "modern analytics" dictates that 6 or 7 innings for a starting pitcher is now the norm. That it's meant to be such a good thing to go 6 innings. It used to be a starting pitcher wasn't doing his job if he didn't pitch a complete game or at least have that as his realistic goal each game. Then the bullpen was clearly secondary and you could afford to cut costs there. It's funny how we demand less and less of our starting pitchers inbtodays game. Yet we pay them more than ever. Being paid amongst the highest players on the team. And yet they get injured at a record pace. We place so much more importance on today's game for the bullpen but teams use and abuse them and pay them poorly compared to other players.
  22. Luckily I can't watch it either thanks to Dave St. Peter and the Twins screwing that up too. I listen on the radio. I really miss Corey Provus on the radio. Kris Atterberry is ok. Glen Perkins and Paul Molitor are very good. I even like Gladden. But Atterberry spends more time talking about his experiences throughout his broadcasting career. And while it's OK for a while, he never stops. Do they realize there is a game going on that they are supposed to broadcast? Just a rant I've been holding in for a long time. The game stunk. There's no life, no fire in this team. They couldn't even blame it on the umpire Monday Night. Very pitiful performance. Can it get any worse?
  23. Wow. We need to turn this around and soon. It's one thing to lose but playing so inept baseball is disgraceful. We continually get out played, out hustled, and out managed. I hope the Nationals take it easy on us.
