Let's build on the recent short term success. I believe the Twins have won 3 of their past 4. We know this team is very fragile. Never know which way they are going. Let's win Tuesday. Go Twins.

It's about time for " I don't do slumps" Lewis to deliver. He like the team needs to build on it. If Lewis goes on an 0-16 slump then yesterday means little. Team needs some consistency this month. Fact is the team played poorly yesterday until Lewis heroics gave them a much needed win. The good thing is we won 2 of 3 from Blue Jay's. Negative is we are still only 4-9 in last 13 games. Twins need to get on one of those 7-3 or 8-2 runs. Go Twins

Twins 0, Blue Jays 15: Zebby Shelled
Whitey333 replied to Sherry Cerny's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Ugly game all around. I look for Ober to pitch well and Twins win on Sunday. Twins have scored a grand total of 3 runs the last 3 games on a total of only 15 hits. 3-9 in last 12 games and it's been very ugly baseball. Fans blaming loss of Buxton and Correa. But the veterans left that want to contribute more than just sitting on the IL need to produce.- 31 replies

I want to thank the previous poster for using the word velocity instead of velo. am so sick of the word velo it is part of the new wave of terms and analytic mumbo jumbo seemingly determined to erase MLB history when real baseball was being played. Getting back to the article at hand: I am surprised that luck and poor home plate umpiring wasn't mentioned lol. That seems to be a lot of people's answers to causes of poor games and losses. Buxton and Correa? Who are they? They certainly cannot be counted on. I think the Twins will still make the playoffs in spite of themselves.

Nice article as usual Nick. Your comment of may things are working against them seems true. Their biggest obstacle seems to be themselves. I think you give their September schedule too soft. It would be more difficult than you realize. Actually if we don't start playing better consistent baseball it won't matter. I think we will make the playoffs but for me it's not a slam dunk. Buxton and Correa? Where are those overpaid guys just when it appears you need them the most?
-
A lot of pressure you put on him. Like you said is last 20 games he hit .187. And you conveniently blamed the whole thing on him playing while with injuries. I hope he comes back and provides a spark. Buxton and Correa? I think they have become too comfortable riding the injury list bench. I don't think we can count on much from either one in the final month of the season. $50million of a 124 million payroll oft injured and probably non productive anyway if they even come back due to all the time missed.

Congrats Cody. You have earned your PR bonus from the Twins Front Office. You can twist things so well to make the Front Office look competent. Have you watched much Twins baseball since the all star break? This bullpen, and much of this team, is only proving they are a train wreck and not ready fir prime time. This FO created this mess. Does anyone believe this team will do anything in the playoffs? Will they even make the playoffs? The Twins propaganda machine just keeps pumping it out.
-
Plain and simple truth is the Twins stink and they have stunk pretty much since the all star break. We have two highly overpaid guys wallowing on the injured list. They definitely do not seem very anxious to come and play. I think it's Buxton and Correa. Who?

Wow tough question. First with the way the Twins are playing it is very possible they won't make the playoffs making the catching question irrelevant. Plus Rocco will probably have them both scheduled for a day off for the first playoff game lol. I like Jeffers but I sure wish he played better defense. He has trouble with passed balls and not blocking bad pitches. The Twins as a whole give up way too many stolen bases.

Former Twins Lefty and Closer Hits Waivers
Whitey333 replied to Matthew Lenz's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
No way will the Twins bring back Roger's. Like the story said it's too much .only for ownership. End of story. End of discussion. Truth is the ownership doesn't deserve to have this team make the playoffs and reap any profits from post season play. They have abandoned the team and it's fans. It's time for the fans to abandon ownership. -
LEWIS? Remember he told us he doesn't slump. He's been terrible for quite à while now.

Twins are now 38-49 against teams with winning records. They have lost 7 of last 9 and are fortunate that Cle eland is also stinking it up or we would be out of the race. No we can't e pect Duran to be perfect all the time. However he hasn't been perfect very often. He's not the same shut down closer he used to be at times. He has 8 losses this year. That's way too many for someone that you count on to close out games and seal the victories.

Twins have now list 6 of their last 8. But Cleveland keeps losing so we hang in there. They keep bragging how we lost and still gained a half game on Cleveland. They fail to mention we lost a game and a half to Kansas City. Good news is we are still 5 games up on Boston for final wild card spot in playoffs. We are 32-44 against teams with winning records. Not impressive if you want to advance in playoffs. Buxton and Correa seem content to stay on IL instead of trying to help the team in their drive. Beginning to think the Mets and Giants were right in not signing Correa.

You are obviously kidding. This must be one of those Rand satirical articles. He has helped destroy more young players careers than help. He doesn't use any common sense. He's a terrible in game manager. Yes I would put him in the top 5. In the top 5 worst managers in Twins history.

Article is interesting but full of bs. It's too convenient to blame every loss on bad luck. That sounds like a Rocco/Front Office new metric for trying to deflect blame for their own strange decisions. Also players with no trade contracts can be traded. All the team has to do is negotiate with the player to waive their no trade clause. Sometimes a star player is willing to do that with a chance to move to a better organization. It's been done before. Of course why would Buxton and Correa want to do that when they can live comfortably on the injury list while their teammates are trying to win a playoff spot.
-
Very frustrating loss. Too many of them lately. Twins have now lost 5 of their last 7 games. Twins are 10 games below .500 against teams with winning records. Doesn't bode too well with a good but very injury riddled Atlanta Braves team coming to town.

Apple TV broadcast was awful. I detest in game interviews while the play is going on. I don't like it when the other networks do the same thing. The distractions are very intrusive and take away from the game. Of course we can always listen to Kris Atteberry on the radio broadcast. He is an expert about talking about everything except the game going on the field. He's impossible to follow and get a feel for the game.

Max Kepler: A Minnesota Twins Era Nearing Its End
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Kepler has been a good member of the Twins organization. Is he a superstar? No. But his career batting average is in line with Byron Buxton. Yes the oft injured, seldom playing centerfielder is hitting a career .243 for 9 years. Not much different than Keplar. And Max plays a lot more. One sad thing is the team won't get anything for him when they don't resign him. Oh yes they may get the Yankees third string batboy should he be in the draft. But yhe big thing will be by just dropping him they can cut payroll. That is a huge win for the Pohlad family. -
Nice win Twins. 1 of 3 against a very good Padre team, meh. 3 of 4 against a mediocre Rangers team. Kind of follows the season. We do well against struggling teams and poorly against teams with winning records. I believe we are 30-39 against those teams above .500. Hopefully we can take care of things on thus 9 gamehomestead. Go Twins..

Correa? Who's that? I don't expect him back until mid September if then. Between him and Buxton alone there is over 50 million dollar ball players rehabbing their owies. Sheesh.

Another loss on the manager. One of many this year. Twins will likely make the playoffs as a wild card but certainly no guarantees even there. Buxton and Correa are needed in the lineup soon. Maybe it's more comfortable for them to be on the injured list than to be helping their teammates during this stretch drive.

That was about the most ridiculous article I've read on TD. One huge negative with the team is we have Rocco. So often he's managing g, if you can call it that, is gearing for the next game and the next while ignoring the opportunities to win the current game being played.
