Great questions and good answers all. I would think that since the Twins have missed the playoffs 3 of the past 4 years and 2 of them in team collapses that all moves need to be considered. Plus many of the so called can't miss prospects on the 26 man roster have thus far been a big disappointment.

Always interesting these prospects. Great article! But the reality is almost all of those "can't miss" prospe ts won't make it. It's the nature of the beast so to speak. Most prospects are way over rated and over hyped. Several of the prospects that played for the Twins this year only proved they are not ready for the majors. It's always interesting to read about future prospects but it's all over blown. But a great article and well researched. Thank you.

One thing I liked about the Pohlad ownership is the stability. Yes we know they once offered the team up for contraction but they quickly pulled that back. I agree that fans shouldn't expect a sudden influx of payroll dollars with new owners. But perhaps an owner with some enthusiasm and baseball knowledge could hire better people to run the team. And develop a new philosophy about players and player development. A complete audit of all the organization should weed out areas where too many employees like the analytics department. Anyway who knows what may or may not happen.

Why the Twins Might Need to Trade Carlos Correa
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I doubt they will trade Correa. But I agree with the premise of the article. With Correa, Buxton, and Lopez you will have 3 players taking up almost 60% of the allotted 130 million payroll. Seems unworkable. -
I'm glad the Twins are making a decision with their TV package early this off season. I hope it all works out well and that it's affordable. So if the same things happen to the T wolves and Wild I suppose we would have to pay an extra $20 or so per month for each of those teams. This could get very speedy to watch local sports teams.

Twins Extend Long-Term Deal with Audacy, Stay on WWCO
Whitey333 commented on C-Gangster's blog entry in March To October
Lo ve them staying on WCCO radio. Does anyone know how much $$$ the deal is for for the Twins? -
Not sure about the title of the article. Maybe it should have been called Rip Reusse. I do agree that a total rebuild would not work. At least not now. Not with the Twins current "relationship: with their fans. But we need to find out if these prospects they have been playing can actually play in the majors. They need to play regularly. None of this playing half a game due to the platoo ING. Let's see what they can do.

Rocco Baldelli is Heading Into a Must-Win Year
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I am not a Rocco fan at all. But it's hard to blame EVERYTHING on him. This team has missed the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years. They are not the perennial contender they keep touting themselves as. Now with the second big late season collapse in 3 years changes need to be made and may be forthcoming. Plus we need to find out if these young prospects on the team can play major league ball or not. A large group of them played very poorly. If anyone else should go I would say Falvey and St. Pete. I'm afraid though we will roll out much the same type of team next year. I would like Rocco and Falvey integrate more real life baseball managing with the analytics. Strictly sticking to analytics has hurt the team. Unfortunately, at least for me, baseball has turned into a big video game played on computers. It's sad to see baseball dumping it's traditions for the younger fans exclusively. Can't we have some of both? Just asking. -
What are the Twins’ Toughest Arbitration Decisions?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
It's time to move on from Kiriloff. Castro is getting too expensive for this organization. But don't put too much stock on Fangraphs. No way he's been worth even close to 44 mill the past two years. Fangraphs always seems to over hype everything past reality. The Twins are a mess right now. Falvey and Rocco are locked at the hip. I suspect the Twins are looking at another 4th place finish in 2025. Perhaps it's time to see if all these can't miss prospects can play. They need to play full time. Calling up prospects to only play half a game due to the strict platoon system kills their development.- 56 replies

Can The Twins Trust José Miranda? And If So, How Much?
Whitey333 replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Yes indeed. These so called can't miss prospects and bright young start have a lot to prove. Injuries and many of them playing part time due to this platoon system has set many of these guys back. At this point it doesn't seem like most of these guys will make it in MLB. Especially not with the Twins. I think this team is at a crossroads in many areas. Perhaps it's time to tear down and rebuild. I'd it seems drastic but as of today this team has no direction and plays very boring baseball- 26 replies

Twins Announce GM Thad Levine Will Not Return for 2025
Whitey333 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Not surprised at all. They still missed on Rocco and Falvey. A total house cleaning should now be done including Dave St Peter. And yes we need someone from the outside. Internal candidates for the GM job would only bring the same Falvey/Rocco totally boring baseball.- 122 replies

I am not a Rocco fan at all. Having said that I can understand bringing him back. Does he deserve that? No. Of course the players like him as they are not held responsible for their poor play. Plus the Twins already have scapegoats in the 4 fired coaches. I disagree with you about people that want Rocco fired being in the minority. Not sure about that. A lot of people question his ability to manage. He has no in game managing skills at all. His insistence on sticking to mainly analytics and not at least some managing cost the team a lot. How good did all that analytics do the Twins this year? Also he was under contract through next year anyway so why pay for two managers salaries for one year? I personally don't think Rocco isn't given enough blame for the last two months. He's supposed to be the leader. That he is not.

Twins Daily Minor League All Stars - 2024: The Hitters
Whitey333 replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Wow what a super article!! Well researched. Year after year we hear of great prospects in the Twins system. Yet almost none of these pan out. We have several on the Twins this year and most of them do not seem to be major league talent. Why should we figure this group is any different?- 11 replies

Yes perhaps payroll dollars need to be allocated better. A penny pinching team should never have signed Buxton and Correa to such long term contracts. The fact that ownership signed off on those deals further shows their total lack of planning. I generally agree with your grades and comments. At this point in time this organization is a mess most of which is brought on by itself.

I wouldn't be surprised if the move Lavine. Falvey should go to but he won't. We already have 4 hitting coaches sacrificed. IMO I think they may be aren't sacrificing enough, at least so far. It was interesting to hear that Joe Pohlad doubled down by saying cutting payroll and not making a deadline trade or two had nothing to do with the collapse. Yea right!

So many of our prospects that played for the Twins this year have shown they are not Bona fide major league players. IMO the Twins do a crummy job of developing their prospects. Many of them play in minor leagues and play more full time. When they are called up to the Twins many of them are relegated to part time status due to Roccos platooning. How are your prospects going to become stars if they are not allowed to play full time? Why would any young star want to play for the Twins?

Ripple Effects: Cities Disconnect
Whitey333 replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Lots of comments regarding my post about not being able to access Twins games. Fact is after leaving Comcast a few years ago due to ridiculous price increases we switched to streaming from YouTube, to Hulu to another one that had Bally Sports. We tried Fubo which is a joke of a streaming alternative compared to Hulu. Fact is we moved to each of those previously mentioned services just to watch the Twins, wild etc. For many years we watched the Twins through those systems. The Twins told us 4 years ago they were going to fix it. They didnt. These are not "options". The negativity on TD is too much. It is intended to provide people a platform to air their feelings about Twins baseball good and bad. No reason to be rude about it. -
Ripple Effects: Cities Disconnect
Whitey333 replied to Eric Blonigen's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Let's not forget that the Twins TV situation is not new. Many of us haven't been able to watch the Twins for a few years due to most streaming systems dumping Bally Sports and the Twins saying they would fix that. That was about 4 years ago. I've pretty much given up on the Twins organization after 60 years of following. They have no clue about how the fans feel. We have been taken advantage of and ignored for years. I guess it is true. They ONKY care about themselves and their bottom line. -
The first of a few coaches to go. Scapegoats. But I understand. The first of several lip service or cover you a.. movement by the Twins.

Nice article and great comments by all. The Twins actually drew roughly the same amount of fans as the previous year. The 300,000 reduction came from Twins estimation of attendance increase from 2023-2024. Figuring the nice 2023 season would increase ticket sales. But they shot themselves in the foot or mouth lol. So they budgeted 2024 on an extra 300,000 in attendance to a total of about 2.2 million not the 1.9 they actually drew. Keeping high priced players like Correa, Buxton, Lopez may be impossible since they take up so much of team payroll. A frustrating fact is that many of the prospects they plugged in for injured players etc performed very poorly. If that continues the future of the franchise looks bleak.

The 2024 Season In A Fan's View
Whitey333 commented on Giles Ferrell's blog entry in Giles Ferrell's Blog
Great article. I couldn't agree more about it's contents. The most despicable brand of baseball the past 6 weeks. Not just the losing but the way they lost. They played with no heart or desire. And then for Joe pohlad to give lip service over the season is ridiculous and an insult to the fans around here that know baseball. If the past 6 weeks was called baseball then fold em up and go. The Pohlad ownership is clueless.- 15 comments

Yes please stay with WCCO. They tried different stations in the past buy came back to CCO. I realize the Twins hire the announcers but I do not care for Atteberry. He rambles on and on about things that have nothing to do with the game. He's very difficult to follow. Gladden is OK but I agree he is getting boring. They both talk over the play on the field. They seem to forget there's a game going on. I miss Provus on radio. I really like Molitor and Perkins. Anyway, please stay on WCCO radio.
