Padres 5, Twins 3: Zebby Matthews Makes His Own Mess
Whitey333 replied to Nate Palmer's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Another loss to a team over .500. Twins are now 27-36 against teams with winning records. No offense . Man we need Correa and the perennial injured and part time player Buxton in the lineup. -
Nice article but way over done. No need to over analyze everything. Relief pitching happens. In this ridiculous era of analytic baseball, there is way too much relief pitching. When teams generally use bullpen to pitch the last 3-4 innings on a daily basis the bad outing will happen. Story here is Alcala had a very bad outing. Baldelli blew it by leaving him in way too long. Thistime of year the bullpen shows the strain of way overuse. It's major league baseball run amok

Loss is definitely on Rocco today. One of a handful of games the manager has lost this year. Excuse the people backing Rocco for keeping Alcala in there while he is getting hammered. There is no excuse for how he handled it. Alcala may have made rotten pitches but Roccos continued lack of game management skills is astounding. People say how lucky the Guardians are because the Twins lost. It works both ways. Maybe the Twins are lucky because Clevelanf lost. Very disappointing and needless loss.

Paddock is ok but not great. Seems he is being way over valued. He's a below average major league pitcher! I just don't see other teams wanting him. Two Tommy John surgeries is not a positive. Twins will dump more payroll for next year. Twins continue to down play injuries only to not see the players return for several weeks.

Nice win Twins. Saturday will be tough as our bullpen is pretty used up and we have the rookie Festa starting. Hopefully we can do it.

Margot sure doesn't move the needle much. He's been ok but easily replaceable with a minimum salary guy that ownership thrives on.

Nice win Twins. Let's keep it going. ALERT!!! Byron Buxton is on the injured list again. My goodness. Some people think the Twins season is doomed. For 8 of his 9 seasons we have seen Buxton spend more time on IL than on the field. Who isn't sick of this? Yes he was playing well when he plays. But he is just a (injured) shell of all the hype and promise. The Twins have done quite well when he is gone. Go Twins!

Here we go again. People blaming the loss on missed balls and strikes. Yes the ball and strike calls in baseball are terrible. They give fans an excuse for their team when they lose. I'm sure the ball and strike miscues never benefit the Twins. You never here about it when they do. I do agree though that those umpires get worse and worse on balls and strikes. Plus they are so arroga t and confrontational. They got rid of Angel Hernandez thankfully. They need to get rid if more starting with that stiff Hunter Wendelstadt.

It was a frustrating end to the start of a good series with the doubleheader sweep on Friday. Twins whine about injuries. Cleveland has had a ton mainly to their pitching but they have beaten the Twins 7 of 9 showing they are better than the Twins. Roccos screwy lineups don't help either. Sitting any of your star hitters for such an important series is poor. Lewis not playing Saturday was poor. Since Buxton hit two home runs Sunday I wouldn't be surprised if Rocco gives him the day off.

Guardians 2, Twins 1: Cleveland Wins it Quickly
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
SWR pitched great. Keep it up!! Hopefully the Twins bats will come alive Sunday. Blaming in part the long winded pregame ceremony for any home team deficiencies is just another in a very long line of excuses to explain away the teams problems at times. No way. It was a well pitched game and the Twins only managed 4 hits. Kris Atterberry on radio is terrible. He never shuts up and digressing to unrelated game topics way too much. He's very hard to follow as he attempts to do play by play. God I miss Provus on radio. But I love Molitor and Perkins and Gadden as well. They do an excellent job.- 45 replies

Well researched article. But you lost me when trying to make comparisons with Cease and Glasnow. Really? After a couple of good starts? Now we all hope Festa does great again today. By making comparisons with proven major league starting pitchers after such few samples is ludicrous. But I don't go along with the Twins philosophy of oh if we lose it's just another game. There's only 45 games left and history shows it takes time to gain ground and move up in the standings. Just as trying to compare football schedules to baseball schedules is also ridiculous. They are two vastly different games and schedules. Go Twins.

Going to be tough the rest of the season without Ryan. Let's hope nothing happens to our real best pitcher Baikey Ober. Go Twins

Yes signing free agents to big contracts can be a crapshoot. So too can be signing oft injured players to long term deals. I like Lewis but I would not sign him to aalong term deal until he plays regularly and produces. With payroll likely to be cut again next year I just don't see the Twins doing that.

Perfect example as to why we need a better manager. Yes Rocco cannot be blamed for Ryan's injury. But his bullpen handling of it was brutal. Leaving Richard's in so long to take a thumping was a clear indication he had no intention of playing to win the game. What kind of a message doesit send to your team to leave Richard's out there getting hammered? 5 walks in one inning!! Plus a couple of wild pitches. The game was winnable until our great manager didn't care. Don't say the bullpen needed a rest. The team is off Thursday. Plus the starting lineup was little league. Rocco has many throw away games each year where he doesn't seem to care if they win or lose. A blown opportunity to try to win with Cleveland perhaps losing two games today. Not very impressive at all.

The Minnesota Twins Bullpen Help is Almost Here
Whitey333 replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Todays Wednesday game against the Cubs shows so far why Baldelli is one of the poorest managers in MLB and one of the worst managers the Twins have ever had. His starting lineup is a joke. Sure don't need to rest star players with a day off Thursday. No it's not his fault that Ryan got hurt. But his mishandling of the bullpen especially leaving Richard's in so long is inexcusable! The only redeeming thing is the game is still early as of this post. 4th inning. How can u leave a pitcher in to give up 5 walks and 40 some pitches. Disgraceful!!- 34 replies

The Twins will need to click in all areas if they are to make the playoffs. They can do it but the bullpen needs to get better. Their 4.60 ERA since the begin ING of July won't cut it. The starters must go longer into games to shore up the bullpen. Go Twins.

Buxtons contract worth it? Not really. Yes he's had a good year but he still doesn't play enough. Considering you base his 100 million dollar contract on his 85 games played. No at this point . He needs to do this regularly for a couple of seasons.
