  1. Well it's obvious the season was just saved by Buxton gracing us with his presence. Yes he's an excellent center fielder but is just an average hitter at tge plate. We all want him to be healthy and do well but we are relegated to wondering when his next trip to the IL will occur.
  2. Another very poor performance. Not totally unexpected. They aren't that good. Since their 12 game winningbstreak I believe they are 5-9. Again we started a b lineup with a lefty starting for Cleveland. But the radio announcers on WCCO have it solved. About all you heard from them other than all the bs they banter about that has little to do with the game being played was whining about bad umpiring, bad luck, and bad bounces. It's getting old because that's all they talk about. I guess since tge team went in the tank there isn't much else to talk about.
  3. It's so disgusting to watch major league umpires calling balls and strikes. But having said that it's just as disgusting, maybe more so, to have the Twins announcers, manager, and fans continually blame the losses on bad luck, bad bounces, and bad umpiring. Yes I agree it was it's normally bad self. But only getting 4 hits a game isn't going to cut it. What's frustrating is that MLB does nothing to improve home plate umpiring. They should at least look into it.
  4. Not much to say about an article so biased and filled with holes it looks like a huge piece of Swiss cheese. This is still just an average team, with a less than average manager, playing in still a very weak division. They can't beat the big boys regularly, or much at all. They thrive on beating the also rans just enough to stay competitive in a non competitive division. What we saw against the Yankees was an overall putrid display. The Twins are now 5-6 since winning 12 in a row. That's probably more realistic of this team.
  5. Losing to the Yankees at home I'd bad enough but to not even be competitive. They didn't even show up for the series. Terrible outfield play all series long. They showed no life or desire at all. It really shows the gap between a decent team like the Twins and a very good team like the Yankees. Getting swept was bad. But getting swept in this manner really sucked.
  6. So why have your two better hitters of late in Miranda and Jeffers not starting? I know people don't like us to witch about lineups, but really? Does anyone know why our top or and rbi guy catcher is sitting today?
  7. Interesting that you call out fans for extrapolating a bad start to the season for Santana and projecting it out. Yet you do the same by In essence implying this recent hot streak is either normal. You can't pick and choose which hot streaks to use to " prove" a point. Let's see how the season plays out.
  8. It's funny that when the Twins were winning it was all great. Now people are making excuses again. Look, Buxton and especially Lewis have been out a while. Yes and now Stewart. But to suddenly blame our little stretch of poor play to the injury list is absolutely ludicrous. What is frustrating is that the Yankees are just better than us and we generally are very good at helping them. Castro not knowing how many outs there are is totally inexcusable! With all the scoreboards showing all the information that is embarrassing. It's also a good reason why people like playing here. Absolutely no responsibility or consequences for playing with your head stuck up something. I would not have pulled him there but would have replaced him after the inning. That's why the players love Rocco. No accountability. It's a bad look for an MLB team.
  9. My concern was the mi or league starting lineup put up by Rocco at a home game. You need to play your best players against the best teams. Forget the lefty/righty bs. Plus the Twins are 24 out of 30 in home attendance. The fans shelling out big bucks at home deserve better. The outfield put out there was strictly minor league. This is why Rocco is not one the better managers. He may have some decent analytical insight but has very little game management. It appeared right off the bat that he had little interest in winning the game or even being competitive. Chalk up another loss by Baldelli.
  10. Great article. Now if we can just get Fangraphs to play out the season statistically we won't need players, fans, or umpires. Sometimes it appears baseball is just turning into one big electronic, computerized, analytical fantasy league lol. Great start by Twins so far. Go Twins
  11. The frustrating part with Baldelli is he's so inflexible and rigid. Unwilling or unable to do much in game managing at all. Remember his philosophy is its the process not the results that we are interested in. He's mentioned that word for word over the time he's been here. I think analytics are fine if they are used in a collaboration with commonsense sense eye test managing. I think he is an OK manager but clearly gets out managed in many games. Go Twins
  12. Good article. Look I love homeruns as much as anyone but I will take wins over Homer's anytime. The Twins are finally playing fun to watch baseball. Base runners and hitting add excitement despite Roccos unwillingness to steal more often. One of the most boring games I've seen was earlier this year between the Twins and Dodgers that included something like 27 strikeouts between the two teams. It's funny how many people say strikeouts don't matter when you are hitting. But yet those same people say they are great when your pitchers get them. Baseball has changed a lot the past few years and not for the better IMO. Go Twins.
  13. Very impressive win for the Twins. Ober continues to be solid. I've never been a Sands fan but he needs a break. Try not to have him pitch for a few days. Not sure about Kiriloff. He seems to hit the wall off and on throughout the season. Is it an injury, just a slump? Not sure what they should do with him. Maybe he will snap out of it. But to be honest there are 3 or 4 other players on the team that have been struggling worse. Enjoy the day off Monday and let's go after the Yankeed. Go Twins!
  14. It was a bullpen loss plain and simple. Although the umpiring at home by Cuzzi was questionable, it was questionable for the Jay's as well. To blame the loss on blown ball and strike calls is ridiculous. It was the Twins that blew it. And I am no fan of major league umpires behind the plate. They do miss too many calls in very important situations. But it was the Twins that blew a 7-1 lead. I am expecting a Twins win on Sunday at the Twins will take the series. Go Twins.
  15. No. That stiff Wendelstadt that threw out Boone needs to go. Him and Gardy went at it for years. He is not a bad ump, just not a good one. CB Bucknor and Angel Hernandez should be shipped out permanently. I know umpiring is tough. I don't mind the truly borderline pitches going one way or another. But the obvious ones blown bother me. Umpires egos are way out of line. The umpires I respect are the ones that maybe will apologize to the pitcher or hitter later saying he missed the call or at least explaining to them what he saw on the pitch. I have no sympathy though for players getting called out on a pitch that could have gone either way. Home plate umpiring does need to improve.
  16. As mentioned in the article Kirilloff and others have been slumping as of late. Could it be that 12 game winning streak covered up a lot of Twins hitting issues? Now that we are facing major league pitching again averages are going down. Surprise? No. I'm not worried about Kurilloff, Miranda, or Larnach. I'm more concerned about how the Twins mis managing their careers. I think all 3 will be fine if the manager let's them play and not treat them as part time players. You don't help a players confidence by pinch hitting for guys that hit homeruns in the same game. Especially with a stiff like Margot. IMO, this is a manager issue. He seems to jerk them around a lot.
  17. Margot continually is brought in to pinch hit for kiriloff only to strike out or feeblessly make an out. I think Margot is a AAA player. Plus Rocco and the Twins are ruining any chance of Kiriloff developing into a good major league player by the way they don't use him. Too many potential players career here ruined or shortened by a stubborn, egotistical, poor excuse for a major league manager. This is why ive said the 6 year control teams have on prospects should be reduced to 4. Margot is bad. It may not matter I guess. The Twins have just enough talent to compete. There's rumors that next year's payroll will be cut again. I'm sure it will.
  18. Nice win Twins. I'm discouraged though that Thursdays matinee game may become one of Roccos throw away games due to the overuse of the bullpen. Too many high leverage arms that may be unavailable. Lopez needs to go deep in the game. Go Twins!
  19. I agree with a previous poster. It's really disingenuous to pic and choose starting pitching pipeline successes. Ober is probably the best example of a true pipeline suc ess. The rest were obtained via trades. That hardly qualifies for a pipeline. Using that " logic" we can therefore also conclude the Mahle trade subtracted from that pipeline. After all we gave up two high prospects for him that are now regulars on the Reds. Anyway this pipeline is still nonexistent in my opinion.
  20. Great article! I have been a Twins fan for decades. But the past 3-5 years have been very tough. I haven't had access to Twins for 5 years. I blame most of this on the Twins. I can't even go to my local restaurant to watch them as they had Comcast. I don't trust the Twins anymore. They treat their fans like dirt. So many miscues. So many people I talk to say they don't care about the Twins anymore. I still care. That's why it is so hard to see it deteriorate due to all the self inflicted wounds. The Twins handle this so poorly. Well written article. One of the best ever on TD!
  21. Nothing unusual about Roccos mismanaged game. He does it a lot. Many times his questionable moves are head scratchers. I absolutely hate his early pinch hitting moves taking out proven hitters. Many times these hitters have had good games, sometimes homering in the game only to be taken out and pinch hit for by some stiff who just keeps getting out. What a waste. And even the bat boy must know not to pitch Alcala two innings in a row. Just another typical day where Rocco is bad field manager. Nothing unusual there.
  22. Blaming Angel Hernandez for the loss is just whining, pure and simple. I will agree he may be the worst umpire ever. He certainly is the past several seasons. But to blame the loss on that stiff is a huge stretch. Although frustrating good major league pitchers are able to get over it. I'm sure the strike calls he gets on pitches that were balls don't affect him nor should they. One question I have is regarding Margot. It's a good day to pick on him. What is his batting average when specifically batting for Kiriloff? It must be awful. I understand the lefty/ lefty thing but how is Kuriloff going to get any better hitting against lefties if he isn't given the opportunity? I realize AK is slumping now but so are many other Twins. Margot isn't the answer in my opinion. Let AK bat against lefties. He can't do much worse than the pinch hitter they send up there for him.
  23. Nice job Twins! 12 in a row is awesome. Let's make it 13 on Sunday. Go Twins!
