  1. Hard to say about this deal until it plays out. The salaries are similar in that Seattle us sending 6 million to Twins as part of the deal. Desclafani is a free agent at the end of the 2024 season. And at hus current salary of 12 million it seems unlikely the Twins would extend him. So he is probably just a one year fill in starter. That leaves a reliever and two prospects essentially plus long term salary dump for Polanco. Meh
  2. The division remains weak and winnable by most if the teams. It could easily be said that the Tigers and the Twibs overachiever last year. To the Twins credit they took advantage of thr other teams seemingly unwillingness to be competitive. As for the Twins needing starting and relief pitching, don't forget we had it last year. Could have had it this year by keeping what they had. But they seem unable or unwilling to pay the market rates for proven quality. They had that right in the palm of their hand and let them leave. I hope the division is much more competitive this year. I think that could make the Twins even better.
  3. Congratulations Joe. Thanks for all the great memories during your 15 year career!
  4. Nice thorough article. You lost me though when you said Blyleven talked his way in. Your implication being he was somehow unworthy is offensive and ignorant.
  5. Great article Nick. Great career Joe. Very well deserved!!
  6. Yawn, yawn, yawn. It's a very good article. Just not going to happen.
  7. Great article! Well written and researched. I haven't been able to watch the Twins ( nor Wild, and Timberwolves, and others) at home for over 3 seasons., due to the very limited availability of Bally Sports on the various media outlets. The Twins promised three years ago they were go
  8. The Twins promised three years ago they would find a solution to twins broadcasts quickly. With bally sports not available on most systems for years, most Twins fans have been left in the dark. The Twins didn't keep their promise then. I don't expect them to now.
  9. Underrated? No. Overrated? Yes like many current Twins players. Pitch framing is a joke and an embarrassment to umpires and baseball in general. It's understandable for 3rd and 4th graders but has absolutely no business in professional baseball.
  10. The lack of a TV deal does hurt. However, many other teams are signing players and free agents. The Twins, I realize, are one of the few teams that don't have a deal and this bankruptcy thing with Diamond sports keeps getting postponed. But it gives the Twins a crutch for not spending money.
  11. They should do like they used to. Keep home games to a minimum in April. Last year they played 16 home games in April. Their most home games of any month last year. I know they don't make the schedule but they do have approval rights. Just win baby and the fans come.
  12. Triple yawns on this "addition" boring and nothing. The relief pitching bottom of the dumpster purge is going on.
  13. I'm sure the Twins will love him and.use him a lot. He comes cheap.
  14. Provus was excellent on the radio. Gladden is good but Provus makes him better. While the TV broadcasting may be significantly better with Provus I'm afraid it will be to the detriment of the radio broadcast. Provus painted a great picture of the game for fans. Kris Attaberry needs to to done it down a lot. Like a previous person said less can be more. He needs to slow down with all the bantering about past experiences, and mundane stories. When him and Gladden start talking it seems they forget there is a game going on.
  15. OMG. Here it is the first day of a new year and already Twins Daily finds it necessary to bore us with yet another in a series of Buxton promotion articles and Buxton this and Buxton that. I would have loved to see what he could have done had he been healthy. But come on its going on 9 years of potential and what is. I don't wish Byron any more bad luck but the organization has paid him well over 100 million over his career. They've been very fair to him to a point it's hurting the team. Please Twins Daily we surely must have more relevant things to discuss.
  16. Very good article. If the Twins do basically nothing this off season they should still be favored to win the Central. Not that great of an accomplishment but what the heck. I think they were a good but not great team last year. I think they won by beating some very poor teams in our division. There is a lot of wholes on this team and that's before losing up to 8 players in free agency. The payroll reduction is understandable. Signing Correa and especially Buxton to a total of 300 million was not. Now they take up 50 million in payroll each year. Not too much left to pay others and upgrade the roster.
  17. Great article. We'll researched and we'll written. My only point would be that perhaps it's way too early to predict. But we'll thought out and done!! I wish him the best.
  18. Yawn, yawn, yawn. Good grief!! Looks like the dumpster diving for relief pitching is in full swing.
  19. Byron who? Good grief here we go again. Another off season and another round of Buxtons availability to play. And somehow we still get people telling us he's a superstar. Come on. He's only had 1 year of 8 as a full time player.all he has done is live on the disabled list. Yet at 100 million dollars he was signed as a full time contributing player. Buxton has been a bust. Yet here we are talking about his playing time and ability. Through no fault of his own he has become an enigma. It's way past the time to think Buxton can be of help. He's much more of a liability than an asset after 8 seasons.
  20. Very typical twins off season. Wait until the last minute to sign or trade. That way it's usually cheaper but not always. I disagree with those that think this team doesn't have any holes. I believe they have plenty. We lost 2 starting pitchers. We'll 3 counting Mahle. We need at least 2 arms in the bullpen. We have a revolving door at first base with the oft injured kiriloff penciled in. For 8 years they have been banking on Buxton, (who?) To play center field. They even signed the part time player to an 100 million contract. What lunacy. We have question marks still at 3rd and 2nd. Oh I know we can put players there. But does that mean they are good? And the often heralded draft pic for Sonny Gray is a crapshoot. Stats show that most draft pics never make it. This team has a lot to do this winter. They are just waiting for the right time to get it done. At least we hope so.
  21. Always love your videos. Well done in your research. These projections by streamer are so ridiculous much like the new wave emphasis on analytics versus common sense baseball. Should be a combination of both. Payroll may not be about total dollars but how they are allocated. The fact that payroll is being reduced is not surprising. To me it is the terrible planning with regard to payroll management. It wasn't smart then and even less so now to sign Correa and Buxton to 200 and 100 million dollar long term deals. So now you will have approximately 50 million per year in only 2 players. That is poor planning. The bankruptcy of Diamond Sports has been a distinct possibility for two years. Very poor planning. To me the teams with smaller payrolls that win is due to their expertise in signing and drafting and trading for the right players. I don't concede the division to the Twins. The Twins play boring baseball in a boring division. I actually hope the Royals or Tigers get better so as to perhaps make the Twins play even better. I'm not sold on this FO. But I haven't given up on them either. I'm hoping we do even better in 2024. It sounds like we will if we let the spreadsheets play the games. Go Twins!
