I don't see Lee making the opening day roster as things shape up so far. There just isn't a position for him to play at this time. I could see next season Jenkins with a chance though.

Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 1991
Karbo replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
'91 was a great team and fun to watch, the WS was great, and game 7 was the best I've ever seen. BUT, I still think the '65 team was better.- 13 replies

The Twins Chose This Payroll Path
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'm still hoping they get a RH hitting OF'er that can play CF as Buxton's backup in the next week. I also think they'll look to add (probably a starter) at or near the trade deadline. By then they should know what they really need.- 69 replies

Can Byron Buxton Finish His Career Like Adrian Beltré?
Karbo replied to Cody Christie's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I get what you're saying, but I don't know that an athlete like Buxton can throttle back. All his life he has probably gone all in, 100%. Kind of like trying to teach an old dog new tricks! -
Twins Daily 2024 Top Prospects: #3.5 Gabriel González, OF
Karbo replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
sounds like he swings like Eddie Rosario, at anything close. He's young enough to figure it out if he's coachable. Just read the Athletic has our minor league talent rated in the bottom 1/2 (barely) in the league. That surprised me a bit after reading about the kids here. -
The 2024 Fates of the "Forgotten Twins"
Karbo commented on NishiokaStan's blog entry in Northern Platitudes
I think Gordons time in Mn is about to come to a close. Miranda will get some time in AAA to turn things around. Alcala looks like the one with the best shot, if he can stay healthy. -
Projections, Comps, and Royce Lewis's Future
Karbo replied to Cody Pirkl's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Due to the injuries, its hard to know which way he goes. Was last year one of those "career" years or was he just starting an amazing career? IMO he has all the tools to be a perennial all star! -

2024 Prospect Previews: Brandon Winokur
Karbo replied to Jamie Cameron's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Taking a prep player in the draft is always a risk, especially in early rounds. This guy looks like a risk worth taking, and I will be interested to see his progress this season! -

I agree that they should still be favored to win the division, but do you really see anywhere they upgraded from last fall?- 41 replies

The Table Setter, Feb. 5, 2024: A Near Finished Product
Karbo replied to Ted Schwerzler 's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
So far this feels like an empty off season to me. I don't think they have improved over last year much if any. I'm kind of disappointed they filled some spots with older players, possibly even on a downward trend. I wanted to see another quality starter added, and they got Desclafini instead. I was hoping they would take a long look at a few kids from the minors, but instead filled the roster with journeymen type players that just don't move the needle that much for me. I have been a Twins fan since they 1st moved here, no matter where my company sent me around the country, and they will continue to be "my team" as long as I live, so I will be pulling for all these guys. I truly hope I look back on this in October and say " boy was I a dope".- 41 replies

I hope he makes a tough decision for the Twins. A full season like he had the 2nd half of last year will make him an extend candidate. What are the odds?

Greatest Twins Teams of All Time: 1965
Karbo replied to Matt Braun's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Unfortunately, so many of the readers on this site just aren't old enough to remember that team. That was almost 60 years ago. It was my 1st ever WS to go to. (It was so cool to get out of school early). I feel if the 65 team was more recent people would value it higher. IMHO it was the best Twins team ever!- 17 replies

The Twins Have a Rotation; They Still Need a Playoff Ace
Karbo replied to Peter Labuza's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I believe to go far in post season you need either a dominate starting rotation or a good rotation and dominate bullpen. At this point as the article says we have Lopez. I do believe Paddack will be better than avg. but questions about his health must be answered. Ryan needs to work on his secondary pitches, Ober has health questions, and so does Desclafini. Varland will almost certainly be needed at some point and after him would be a mystery. They also need bullpen help IMO. So looking at it on paper, can this team try to outslug and outscore other playoff teams? Of course this all assumes they even make the playoffs which is a fair assumption in this division.- 43 replies

DeSclafini has the potential to be a pretty good 5 hole starter. That said, they are basically entering the season with1 proven starter and 4 potentially good starters. The question for me is how many of these 4 potentials pan out? I have high hopes for Paddack, but worry more about the injury bug with Ober and Deslafini.

Does Signing Kiké Hernández Make Sense for the Twins?
Karbo replied to Cody Schoenmann's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
I'd pass on him. Keep adding questionable type players and it blocks the way for the kids to come up and prove whether or not they can succeed at the major league level. -

Twins Daily 2024 Top Prospects: #8 Charlee Soto, RHP
Karbo replied to Nick Nelson's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
He may look like a sure thing, but to rank him this high, with NO pro experience, seems like a dream to me. I just hope he doesn't read this article. An awful lot of pressure on him if he does. -
If I had to put together a Pitching rotation for the playoffs I would be looking for guys in the low HR, high ground ball type, with a decent K%. Obviously, there's not a lot of those out there. Twins hitters need to work on their 2 strike approach. That not saying they always use it with 2 strikes, but there are times (think runner on 3rd or even 2nd with less than 2 outs. I got so frustrated last year to see a guy on 3rd with nobody out, infield back, and the next 2 guys K. There the guy stands on 3rd and they missed a chance to score a run.

If Martin shows well in ST I would keep him over Gordon. With his speed, and versatility, plus as RH hitter I think he will fit in better than Gordon. I also think is a total make or break year for AK. He's got to stay healthy and show achieve the talent level he showed so much promise for in the minors!

Twins Daily 2024 Top Prospects: #9 Brandon Winokur, SS/CF
Karbo replied to Seth Stohs's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
Seems like a pretty high rating for a guy that doesn't have 100 ABs even at the lowest levels. Grading on potential he rates highly, but how often does potential get it done? If he does prove out, he could rate even higher.
