  1. IMO that is over thinking by Rocco. I firmly believe that most players prefer a set role out of the pen. Closer, top setup, mid setup, long guy etc. But Rocco doesn't believe in doing it that way because his little stat sheet tells him so. For many many years teams have ( and many still do) set roles out of the pen. Of course the smartest guy in the room has a better way, even if it doesn't work.

  3. I can't believe he decided this was a throw away game. Starting not 1 but 3 AAAA guys. Rocco has got to go!
  4. Don't forget about the Frost. 1st ever champion last season!
  5. I hope they don't mess the kid up trying to get more power. A single and SB puts the guy on 2nd, just like a gap double. IMO they should just let him hit the way he does, which is well so far, and let the power come naturally. Some don't remember but Puckett didn't hit for power when he came up.
  6. Rocco has never been good managing a pitching staff. He has to learn to trust the starter until he is fading, or give some relievers a 2nd inning. Using 4 relievers per game just isn't going to last thru a whole season. I don't care what is analytic sheet says.
  7. Before the DH teams could "retaliate" when the pitcher came to bat. Now, the pitcher has nothing to fear if he hits someone.
  8. I guess this team just doesn't play well in bad or cold weather.
  9. I wouldn't draft a pitcher out of Rice. They seem to have so many promising pitchers that have had arm problems. I don't know why.
  10. I haven't been impressed at all by his defense. His range is limited at best, and though he has been OK at balls in the dirt, there have been other times where I really, really miss Santana at 1st.
  11. How many balls were called strikes? Another brutal job of calling balls and strikes by the home ump. The auto strike zone looks better all the time.
  12. I don't see them putting Keaschall anywhere but 2nd, 1st, or DH. They want to give his arm more time. Bride would be the logical choice for demotion.
  13. McCusker is really making a case for himself to get a chance in the majors for somebody. Will that be the Twins?
  14. so far so good, but too small of a sample size. Now they need to improve the OB% to make it really matter.
  15. Well said. As a young boy in '61 I walked into the Met one early spring day and saw that beautiful green grass and manicured infield and fell in love with the game. I too waited along that 1st base line waiting for autographs. Watched players playing pepper (Why did they stop that?) and dreamed of playing on that field as a Twin someday, and have been hopelessly hooked since. There were some pretty bad teams at times but at least they had management stressing fundamentals. Anyone remember what they are? I will stay a fan until I die I suppose, but I sure would like to see them in 1 more WS or 2 before then.
  16. That Keaschal might just be the spark plug this team needs. Love to see him all year, maybe even ROY candidate.
  17. I will never understand what prompted the team to announce, right after a playoff run, that they were cutting payroll by 30 mil. I don't think the Pohlads care about the future of the Twins or MLB. All they care about is max profit!
  18. They better get going or someone should lose their job. It's getting late early!
  19. I would think with all the analytics the Twins use they should have figured that out sooner, like in the minors. IMO that's where he should be working on something like this. Sounds like Pablo will be back for his next start on Thursday so let him work on either his arm slot or sinker in St. Paul
  20. Maybe the Yankees would be a good trade partner for one of our starters, preferably SWR or Paddack, I have no idea what the Twins could get or even if they have anyone they would want, but NY need starters.
  21. Another example of the analytics becoming a problem. If the starters could go 6-7 innings then that works, but going through 4 relievers a game will come back to haunt them later in the season. Of course, the way they're playing that may not matter.
