  1. Bowman is crazy, very rarely do I agree with his trade ideas. For a rental I wouldn't trade any of them. Beyond that I don't think the owner would want to pay for his added salary besides paying for Santana's
  2. From the beginning, I advocated that Julien, Miranda & Kiriloff will drastically raise our 1B stock. Lee & Martin will drastically raise our 2B stock & Castro, Keirsey, along with Wallner will raise our LF stock. Along with voiding out Farmer, Margot & Santana's playing time will raise our stock in all these positions plus it won't cost us anything in added salary or prospects except the money we already wasted. If we want to challenge any top team we need postseason caliber SP. I definitely would trade Gonzales as the primary trade piece.
  3. We had a great combination of position players vets & youngsters that helped us to advance in the postseason. The addition of Margot & Santana (even with their recent success) has blocked & taken away precious playing time of our younger superior players (Martin, Miranda & Kiriloff) to improve, IMO subtracted from the chemistry & delayed Keirsey from getting his feet wet. Our vets (Buxton, Kepler & Vazquez) led by Correa & youngsters (Jeffers, Larnach, Castro, Miranda) led by Lewis with the addition of Julien, Wallner & Kiriloff when they get things right. & impact rookies Martin & Lee. IMO a very formidable force that can do some damage come postseason time.
  4. In our recent tear we have gained a little against CLE. We'll gain a little more ground in our next 2 series before hit a little more completion with AZ & more yet with a hotter SEA, that'll be a good test. I like where we sit.
  5. Eels should be promoted to high A, but the Mussels would be lost w/o him. Kiriloff has yet played a AAA game, Canterino 60 days IL stint has long been up. What's up on these 2? We all know that Wallner & Julien can crank out HRs in AAA. But have they shown that they have mastered not striking out at AAA enough that'll translate on the MLB level? That's what we have to look at.
  6. The offense showed up. Varland not knowing how long he was going to pitch, pitched his heart out until the 7th. Martin progresses in the CF & at the plate, once he really settles in, especially on the basepaths, he'll become an all-round impact lead-off hitter. These guys are life-savers & need to stay up. Even when Wallner, Julien, and Kiriloff are ready to come up. The rotation, Thielbar & Duran are sometimes wavering. Varland is much needed in long relief on a long-term basis. Fortunately, we had him up last night.
  7. I prefer the old pinstripes. These City Connect uniforms are better than I expected, other City Connect uniforms have been pretty bad. I like them just as well as any non-stripe uniform.
  8. I preferred Lewis back then on paper, being a 5-tool player over a volatile pitcher. But quickly knowing his character, baseball savvy & leadership, I never doubted him & knew we had something. He's a game changer, an MVP, a person to build a team around. His injuries are due to his naive excitement as he matures & properly managed, his injuries will be less of a problem.
  9. Wallner 4-4, 1 HR & 0 Ks, he looks ready to return. But where do you put him? I'd like Martin to stay up. Hope Dobbie can keep it up. Looks like the main focus with Kiriloff is to rest his arm which I agree.
  10. I felt that Wallner's AAA stint would be long. It's not easy to unlearn what you've been programmed your whole pro career. I'm happy that he's close because we need him. We need Martin, Wallner, Julien, Lee & Kiriloff all up, plus Keirsey deserving a MLB call up. Which demands tough decisions on Farmer, Margot, and Santana even if they aren't as bad as they were. What good is DeSclavani on the 40-man? If any trades involving any of these players or others on the 40-man they should be made.
  11. "Carmargo is pushing his way to the majors". Carmargo didn't even catch unless you mean as a DH. Last night's game was televised. I was disappointed that Carmargo didn't catch, I was hoping to see what his defense was like. Winkel caught & was fine plus his bat was also good. It was very interesting to see Festa pitch. He & Raya both had good games.
  12. We agree Topgun, I'm hoping for some relevance from Thielbar but I'm afraid he's on his way out. Canterino when? Who knows? He was put on the 60-day back at the end of April & started to throw from the mound shortly afterward. The 60-day should be over soon & he'll start his lengthy ramp-up process. You don't hear anything about his progress. Which is frustrating.
  13. I noticed that SWR had a tough time hitting his spots, maybe indeed that was the reason. (?) If SWR's command was just slightly better in the 1st inning, he'd easily have 0 ERs, gone longer in the game & pick up the win. With baseball, it's funny how a slight difference can make such a big difference.
  14. Perfect! The Twins can pick up another slugging reject, that this FO love. School him in the "all or nothing" approach & expect him to hit a ton of HRs while playing a good 1B. But in reality, they create another SO machine.
  15. Hope you forgive me but I'm a little gun-shy. We have been burnt much too often at the deadline as buyers & very little success. As a team, I see us improving & easily making the play-off even if we don't win the division title. We are finally using Alcala correctly, eventually, Stewart will return, hopefully Duran will return to dominance, Thielbar to relevance, Varland & Canterino will make an impact in the BP. Martin & Keirsey need a chance to show what they can really do & Miranda & Kiriloff at 1B. We don't need a back of the order SP to get us to the dance, what we really need is a high-end SP to advance. These deadline SPs are expensive & risky, I'd preferred we had done this last off-season & not done what they had done.
  16. Kepler came through again. Buxton, Polanco & Kepler have been quite the camaraderie that support each other through the years. It'd be hard to see Kepler being able to do what has been doing alone on a different team.
  17. A comeback is great no matter which team you're playing. I saw the 1st inning & went to bed behind 4-0. But fell asleep with a quiet confidence that we'd be on top when I woke up. They didn't disappoint me even w/o Lewis & Martin (they always put on a good show).
  18. I feel a little uneasy w/o Lewis in the line-up. A little too late for me, so I'll miss practically all of the game.
  19. I was with you Trov. Too much money & too many red flags. They got lot less than they asked & deserved much less than that.
  20. I was worried Ted that you were going to promote Varland to stay as a starting pitcher. I've been advocating all season against wasting Varland's bullets in AAA. Even when many criticized Varland for not being good enough down in AAA, Varland proved last season that he's very effective in the BP. Yet I wouldn't be against using him in a BP game or even as a spot SP or in the future stretch him in full-time SP. Varland can be most effectively used in long relief, relieving the pressure on both BP & rotation especially seeing some scary stuff from Pablo & Duran.
  21. The 1st thing I notice about a player is character. SWR interview with Seth, I was impressed with SWR's character after listening to him. Driven to become the best, character that gets a player past any drawbacks. Many fans have been down on Lewis, Martin & SWR during their MiLB stints crying out to trade them. But I haven't lost faith in them because of their character. Many are still are waiting SWR to fall any day. But he's constantly improving his pitches released from that arm slot so it's hard to really get a good read. Along with his command of his pitches, I don't expect any regression anytime soon. Even though he doesn't have that wipeout pitch.
  22. I was told to be excited about this crop of college catchers, Yes the crop is larger but the quality is way down. There is no comparison to '23 top 2 college catchers- 1st Round (LH) Teal & 2nd Round (SH) Cole Carrigg both have the potential to be elite. Carrigg was moved off catcher (which was a shame) to CF due to need in '23. Carrigg has a very good hit tool, super fast especially for a catcher, canon for an arm, starting to develop power as a pro, a leader can be proficient at any premium position including pitching but wants to be a catcher. It'd be a big mistake if CO doesn't develop him as a catcher. But getting back to the '24 class, I'm disappointed. I was never big on Parada because he had no arm & too slow for my taste. Too many link big bat = good catcher. You are right the Twins don't care about defense, they look at 1st big bat. Which is not a bad idea if you are MIL or SEA who can evaluate & develop defensiveness in catchers, What I see MN can't. Which results in shabby catching depth, Overall this strategy also produces a high glut of big bat/ no glove cOF/ 1B/ DH types which is bleeding into 2B.
  23. The Saints really exploded! Wallner did very well but most importantly no SOs! He should be called up soon, along with Lee. Blewett & Balazovik pitched well in the BP game. Twins should try it sometime.
  24. Correa is MVP. Buxton is steadier, Lewis is Lewis & a good start by Martin. Ryan good start, good to see Alcala up & producing especially when Thielbar is flailing. A good game. Twins keep this rolling against these team so when we come against really good teams with Lewis we can sustain it.
