  1. Outman should be DFAed but I don't think Emma is the answer to replace him. With Larnach & Wallner on the active roster Emma won't get enough ABs. They should bring (RH) Fedko up to replace Outman, give Fedko a chance. have him hit against LHPs. IMO, he can serve a greater purpose than Outman. If they love Outman, he'll pass through waivers.
  2. The reason we have lost so many close games isn't that we lack a big bat, it's because of a poor BP, INF defense & lack of clutch hitting (yes, we can hit a bunch hits with RISP at a time but where is that single hit when we need it?). If we bring up Emma, what'll we do with Larnach or Wallner? Do they still have options? Can we trade them? These questions need to be answered 1st.
  3. I wrote a blog a few months ago, I think it is related to your article https://twinsdaily.com/blogs/entry/24088-an-observation/ I've been very concerned about how the Twins have approached the International draft. They have gone away from scouting to relying on their kind of analytics. They haven't had much luck with it, so instead of aiming at quality, they go with quantity & hope that with some luck, a prospect falls through the crack & makes it to the MLB & much less miraculously does well. I won't go into depth; you can check out my blog. How many in-house international pitchers make it to the Twins? I have some hope that Emma makes it & runs with it. But he's the only one, even those position prospects we obtain, I'm not very hopeful. We need to make a transition away from this faulty philosophy & go with better scouting & development focused on this rich field of these young International prospects.
  4. IMO, pitching sick, threw him off & set him back. He's had some bad luck & not enough support from the offense, defense & BP. He's more a pitcher than a hurler.
  5. I don't think putting Larnach in the OF because of defense or Martin in RF doesn't flies. With Martin against RHPs, he'll still get on base & his speed, will vastly improve his stolen base %,
  6. Many criticized the Twins before because they bunted, baseran, and base-stole & failed. Does that mean they should stop trying? Because they failed with using openers, long relief, piggy-back & BP games, does that mean they should stop trying? Serious teams know how to do these things correctly. If the Twins want to be a serious team, they have to learn how to use their BP in this way. Pushing young starting pitchers to go farther in games because we have a weak BP will only cause injuries & inefficient arms. We need to bring up promising young arms that can fill these roles. We need to obtain as many good pitchers as we can, however we can & DFA those that aren't getting the job done as soon as possible.
  7. I'm also open to use Rojas & Prielipp as openers & put SWR & Ober in long relief.
  8. An Observation: Ober has been the brightest example of our in-house development; Zebby & Festa also lost some of their shine. Where we really shone was taking out-of-house SPs & tweaking them into top-of-the-order SPs. We did that with Odorizzi & Ryan from TB. I also wanted to target MIA SPs a few years ago when they were for sale. I was very pleased when Twins picked up Lopez, but I also advocated for all their SPs who were for sale. Just think of Lazardo & Weathers in our rotation. & making our failed SP into pretty good RPs. Like I said previously, just because they start out in the pen; doesn't mean they have to stay in the pen. From this observation, IMO we should change our priority from developing our in-house SPs, to looking for promising young MLB-ready SPs out-of-house & be quick to start our SPs in the pen.
  9. Our biggest hole (BP) has cost us too many close games. I get it, after Falvey left just before spring training, there wasn't much in FA & it was hard for the new FO to get their feet under them to put together a reasonable trade. I don't see much hope for the present BP to step up. So we need to look in-house, I've stated that for a while now. We saw Bradley & Able step up in the rotation. Isn't it about time to release Prielipp & Rojas in the pen where we really need them? & see what they can do. We need high leverage, long relief & spot starting. They definitely can do that. We don't have to worry about losing anyone in the pen. Too many aren't getting it done. I've been a big advocate on bringing up our promising pitchers up in the MLB & not wasting their bullets in the AAA pen. Again, many great SPs got their start in the pen.
  10. I had very high hopes in Lewis. I liked everything about him, his attitude, everything. Even with Boras as his agent, I thought maybe he really liked it here & that they could work out a deal for an extension. But I really have some doubts about his commitment here, now. He has a very high ceiling with intangibles, but I don't know if he can realize them here. He should get his value up higher by the deadline. BOS needs Lewis, but will they offer someone worthwhile that we NEED? That is something I'd like to see. Until Culpepper is really breaking down the door, there is no rush to trade Lewis.
  11. I forgot to include catcher as needing a strong arm. Having a strong arm at SS is definitely a positive. A strong arm at SS is more important than 3B is debatable. But it seems to me that the weaker-arm INFer tends to end up at SS/2B rather than 3B.
  12. Completely agree. Glove, baserunning, & hitting are important, which create a high floor that easily translates to MLB. Yet analysts don't put much importance on them. Arm is mainly important only if you're a pitcher, RFer or even 3Bman; otherwise, it's mainly irrelevant. Analysts put much importance on their ratings on potential raw power which is much harder to translate to MLB. IMO, this type of prospect rating needs to change. In my book, Houston is in my top 100.
  13. They do too often, but great, we can overturn them.
  14. Falvey isn't around, so there is no reason to keep him up. Bring up Fedko yesterday & DFA Outman already. We'll figure out what to do with Fedko after Lewis comes back.
  15. This might bother some anti-platoon fans, but it's well past the time to DFA Outman, bring up Fedko & see what he can do. Wallner is ok against RHPs but LHPs?! We've lost too many winnable games so far. We need all the wins we can get. Teams are exploiting our lopsided LH hitting lineup. When will Keaschal show up?
  16. Where did I say that hitters should not hit the ball hard? The "moonshot" philosophy problem is more on creating holes in your swing, poor contact & striking out. Getting a hit, especially in high-leverage situations, is more important than making an out or hitting the ball out of ball park when you don't need one.
  17. My original statement of lack of clutch hitting was made in the beginning of the season. I have also stated that I believe the bats would warm up. So if you followed me you'd know that Iast night's lack of clutch hitting, in the beginning of the game was an exception, not the rule. On the other hand, the BP & INF problems are more serious & needs change. So if you followed me & try to put what I say into perspective, instead of looking for reasons to accuse, you wouldn't be so quick to call it lame.
  18. 3 things that I stated were concerns were BP (I was hoping Banda would be better), below-average INF (especially up the middle) & lack of clutch hitting. All 3 played in this game. Like Ober last year, he pitched sick & never really got back in sync. Hope SWR snaps out of it.
  19. I'm very happy with the change of hitting philosophy from hitting "moonshots" to getting on base, keep it moving along & getting clutch hits. It's not only seeing that "moonshot" philosophy doesn't work, but also to have a plan to transition away from it.
  20. You think I have blind hatred for Falvey because I don't blindly believe the hype that floods social media? or make Falvey MLB administrator of the year because another team offered Able. What talent is it on Falvey's part? What credit should Falvey get when players fall in his lap? Rest assured, I don't have hatred for any man or woman. I was a big fan of Falvine but years of observing Falvey & with him taking more & more control, the worse Twins became. My speaking out against Falvey isn't based on any hatred for Falvey but out of my love for the Twins.
  21. Just to remind you, we gave up a very impactful, in high demand, the most electric closer in MLB (Duran) at the deadline, where teams like PHI are desperate to do something in the postseason. If Falvey landed Painter, then yeah, Falvey'd have done well. But he didn't. Abel was the best they offered. Abel is promising but was inconsistent. Praise to the pitching coaches for Abel becoming more consistent. Not Falvey
  22. To borrow Tarheel's correlation, Bucks diesel truck has warmed up. Time to deliver.
  23. I really don't care how many LH cOFers other teams have. How many of them do the Twins really need? If we have 2 LH cOFers & a LH utility player or switch-hitters with a couple in AAA, IMO, we are doing pretty well & have plenty of depth. Where we can trade the surplus to fill where we are weak.
