  1. TB is a good team with good pitching, that has to play NYY & BAL more often. We won by 1 yesterday, we lost by 1 in extra innings that we could have won last night. Let's win today & go onto OAK!
  2. Both MN & NYY focus on squeezing every HR they can out of every hitter. Rortvedt is another hitter who doesn't benefit from that philosophy.
  3. Always liked Rortvedt, now getting away from MN & NYY he's starting to hit.
  4. Larnach should have scored, Even if the ball didn't go through the INF nobody was covering 3B but the ball did go through the INF.
  5. Castro can play middle field well which means he can anywhere in the OF & INF well. He isn't just a utility player, he's a super utility player, LAD knew the importance of having super utility player Chris Taylor for years & he proved to be very valuable. One shouldn't take a super utility player for granted but many do. A super utility player adds depth everywhere & IMO Castro will grow into even more of an impact player. I'd like to keep Castro around for a while. Lee is set at 2B, LF is still up in the air, RF will be up in the air after Kepler leaves, Martin is our other super utility player & Julien, Miranda & Kiriloff will fight it out at 1B. Hope is Wallner will find his way & then there is Larnach & when will Emma be ready? It wouldn't be a bad idea to extend switch-hitting Castro as insurance & keep our options open, He wouldn't be expensive & his trade value would be appealing if he gets pushed out.
  6. IMO the ABS system doesn't need to be 3D. A 2D screen that's located at the center of the plate. That location could be adjusted depending if the batter likes to stand in the front part of the box or in the back. To me it seems pretty direct. Are you saying there have been some computer problems? Yeah, if there is any errors in the system they should be able to overturn them. I guess I had some difficulty understanding exactly what you meant at the end.
  7. #1) the umps don't like to be challenged, inadvertently they tend to get even (human nature.) I heard from someone that when a team challenges an ump & they reach their limit of challenges they tend to go the other way on close calls. I'm not insinuating any serious like that there is any hate of team or player or any on the take or even any malcontent. Only something that is inadvertently done.
  8. Playing only against RHPs means playing at least 75% of the time. 600 OPS isn't bad, what is his OBP against LHPs? that's more important. What is Farmer, Margot, Santana's OPS & OBP against RHPs? With Lee's recent performance, he's begging to be called up. Who's place will he take if not Farmer?
  9. When you know your players, you know when it's a mechanical or approach problem for some & when it's health problem. Kiriloff is a pure hitter when he's going into a slump, he's ailing somewhere. IMO you don't need Kiriloff tell you he's hurting (because for some reason or another he won't tell you), you can tell by his decline in production. After a week of decline, Twins should have stepped in & said "we are shutting you down where are you ailing?" Back pain is something you can't fool around with. Polanco had back pain in '22 took some time off & he was good as new. Twins should have stepped right in taken action & stopped that prolonged pain & poor production into something quick & more productive.
  10. The switch-hitting Lee won't be playing 2X a week, he can play every day if he wants to. Eeles has been doing well at FM. FM hasn't been very successful even with Eeles. FM will miss him. I was expecting Eeles to do well at CR but I'm impressed with him to contribute so soon.
  11. I believe for each batter you have to choose which hand you can pitch with & can't switch while pitching to the same batter. He has a glove that fits both hands.
  12. Kjerstad is a big name, one you'll pay through the nose for & who's not worth it. If Kjerstad is the bait, a big SP or Mason Miller (if they want a closer) is the fish they're going after.
  13. IMO that Athletic article was ridiculous. An article based on a very limited survey to drive down Jazz Chisholm Jr.'s trade value & Correa was collateral damage. If you are evaluating Arraez's hitting, I'm afraid you are barking up the wrong tree. OPS is OK but it isn't an end-all stat. Getting on base, moving players up, getting a clutch hit are important, not striking out in clutch situations is important. What's not important is hitting a bunch of HRs when you don't need them that drive up OPS & striking out in clutch situations, is not important. I'd rather have a lineup filled with Arraez type hitters than with line-up filled with higher OPS Santana type hitters. Arraez is fine for a 1Bman but if you are talking about 2B defense, Arraez is terrible. And I'd agree with you that people tend to over-look that because of his hitting. Marte is by far a better 2Bman than Arraez & should get the nod over him.
  14. What a big clutch hit grand-slam from Lee, to grasp away a win from the jaws of defeat! Farmer's days are numbered. Eeles, what a find! He debut for CR in time to help them pull out a win. While low A FM is suffering w/o him.
  15. I love the photo of Martin, he's not afraid to go airborne. The offense & BP got the job done, They need to bring Varland up & keep him up. They are finally using Alcala right, it's about time to do the same with Varland. Lopez will get it right, I'm not concerned (unless there's an injury). Either way, the ship needs to be corrected. Agreed Farmer's days are numbered, Lee will force him out. My condolences to the Willie Mays family. IMO Mays was the all-time great.
  16. Nice sell job Ted! Maybe you can use your talents to sell Santana to another team. We already have Miranda to hit LHPs & it's too bad we need to use Miranda against RHPs because switch-hitter Santana can't hit RHPs. Once Kiriloff & Julien come back we'll have the best against RHPs.
  17. Thanks DJL, I had imagined that Kiriloff was hurting where it affecting his swing but it didn't show on the tests. Alex needed to communicate his ailment right away.
  18. What I discovered about the limited challenge system is #1) the umps don't like to be challenged, inadvertently they tend to get even (human nature.) #2) it takes up time #3) It's up to the batter to quickly call it & they tend to blow the team's chances too quickly. To repeal the full ABS & sticking with the limited challenge isn't much better than full non-ABS. If the big teams benefitted from the ABS system, it'd be approved a long time ago. But they benefitted from human error therefore dragging of their feet & try to convince us it's more romantic to have umps call balls & strikes then demonize them.
  19. I agree with what you said, but the remark was related to Farmer, Margot & Santana, not to Topa & DeSclavani because their salary has already been sunk.
  20. Steve Garvey would have been a pretty good addition. I really liked him.
  21. Congratulations, to Dobbie. IMO he should be a SP depth piece inside him somewhere. Did aliens abduct Canterino & Kiriloff? They have disappeared from the planet w/o a clue. Congratulations to Eels for his promotion. Hope he continues his hitting.
  22. I've thought I've thought the same thing. Obsvr. At least have friends who are.
  23. Twins are an analytically-minded team. In the 5-tool grading system, power takes the lion's share of the grading. So it's logical that if the Twins don't have a clear-cut 5-tool guy like Jenkins, Lee & Lewis they lean towards the big college bat that lacks the speed, defense, hit & sometimes arm. IMO you 1st develop the defense, base-running & hit tools after that you develop the power tool but the Twins focus on the power & IMO ignore the defense, base-running & hitting. MY priority is defense (that includes fielding, speed, & arm) at a premium position then getting on base (hitting), power is last. I was against the Sabato & Cavaco as 1st round selection. I've been apprehensive about Larnach, if he hadn't totally changed his approach & turned around his hitting this year, he could have made the 1st round bust. Although Canterino's dream is to be a SP, he should have been transferred to the BP prior to his last injury, He still has a chance excel in the BP but his SP days are over. I can't understand how Prielipp is constantly ranked so high! When he has practically no pro history. Twins have been taking their young SP prospects slowly because of the frailty of young arms.
  24. I'm really sorry for him but he had an uphill battle with the large glut of big bat-no-glove players that the Twins focus upon competing for the 1B/DH position. Another waste of a 1st round pick, which is no fault of his, maybe he had the pressure of performing being the 1st round pick. Wish him luck & hope he finds his dream no matter what it is.
  25. I'm in favor of bringing up Wallner. But what we have to focus on isn't how many HRs he hits in AAA but how many SOs will he accumulate in MLB? The question doesn't only lie with Wallner but also Lee, Julien, Kiriloff & Keirsey (all LH hitters) who have the potential to be darn good players. far superior players to their predominate RH-hitting counterpart Farmer, Margot & Santana. Wasted money with DeSclavani, and Topa, we need to trade if we can or eat the rest of the money due & DFA them. Kiriloff had difficulty hitting LHPs or RHPs which makes perfect sense to swap out with Martin who can hit either.
