  1. Sure hope the Twins are able to get a catcher. Last December it seemed like a possible strength or at least respectable position. Vasquez or Narvaez or trade for Murphy or a Blue Jay .... something.
  2. These contracts are never a financial burden to the teams from major markets. Peanuts for the Yankees.
  3. Judge signed for what was expected and with the team expected. The Yankees have the money and Judge nearly single-handedly carried his team into the playoffs. I do not believe that there is any relationship between the Judge signing and what Correa seeks or receives in his contract.
  4. Knowing nothing .... why do I think that Max Kepler has not been happy playing for the Minnesota Twins the past two years and that his demeanor has greatly affected the outcome of those two seasons?
  5. What I see is that teams need to be proactive if their finances are limited. This is certainly difficult but looking back is pointless in frustrating ways. What was Sano worth after 2019? So what is the market for Ryan, Arraez, or Miranda in 2022? I'm not suggesting that the Twins should necessarily trade any or all of these guys but the Twins need to think about what they want their team to look like going forward and be active. I do think that Falvey and Sons do look forward and think about the team but their actions are also somewhat hesitant and less than bold. The strategy of waiting has not been so kind to the team except in the case of landing Correa, which I believe to be an anomaly. I'm hoping for a signing, maybe two and a couple of good trades.
  6. Julien looks a little like Arraez with power and a bit more savvy on the bases. The onus is on management to identify the best talent and put it on the field. Injuries and bad luck have seemingly dogged the team recently but the pendulum can swing at any time. One thing remains clear - the Twins need a top of the rotation pitcher and Carlos Rodon may be beyond reach financially leaving trades as the sole savior for this off season.
  7. That rumor has passed away. Sadly.
  8. This is where I'm at with the roster. Deal for Lopez or/and Cabrera from Miami and harass the Brewers to give up Burnes or more realistic, Woddruff.
  9. Four years at $120 M or 5/$135 seemed to be the early market. Now, i think someone goes six years, just not the Twins. Who knows - there appears to be plenty of money floating around.
  10. Vasquez would be a solid addition and cost nothing. Yes, I would prefer Sean Murphy but Vazquez is pretty good for a pickup to split duties with Jeffers.
  11. Much ado about nothing. The price of pitching is high. The Twins need to be willing to deal anyone in the right trade. Burnes, Woodruff, others are pretty good and keep any team in most every game. Arraez is so much fun to watch hit but a TOR guy can really settle down a rotation just like the biggest of bats, Aaron Judge. One thing is sure, Twins should be actively talking and considering all angles. Jose Miranda had a terrific first year but if he was packaged for the right return, Falvey needs to get it done.
  12. Right now it sure looks like all of the leverage is with the players/agents. The Manfred statements about the dire financial situation across baseball is in the rear view mirror. The Twins have options with drafting, development, health, trades, and free agents. The strategy of waiting out the market is always an option too, but one that is looking dim. There are opportunities and the next week should shake loose a number of deals across baseball. Hopefully Falvey identifies some deals, some of which may be costly in either players and/or money. I don't believe deadlines is one of the options.
  13. Larnach, Ober, and an A ball pitcher for Murphy. Do it.
  14. How has Ryan pitched against the best teams in baseball?
  15. I have never met Joe Pohlad and thus have no opinion on him or what effect his promotion has on the future of the Twins. I will defer to those who have or have had close personal contact with Joe Pohlad. The idea of jumping aboard a train of support or detraction seems derelict. I hope Joe Pohlad is a Twins and baseball fan.
  16. Wonder if the Twins have even considered looking at Pittsburgh as a trade partner?
  17. You may be correct but the Twins are unlikely to trade either of their guys. Just sayin.
  18. The way that Kirilloff hit for St. Paul is a possible outcome for Alex with the Twins in 2023. The photo captures two key players for the Twins chances in 2023, AK and Kepler. While it doesn't seem like Kirilloff is inked into the lineup, his healthy bat is one of the keys for the coming season.
  19. E. Rodriguez is right there with Brooks Lee as the top prospect for the Twins. The odds of trading either is lower than trading Lewis.
  20. Danny Jansen should be available at less of a cost than Sean Murphy. The trick is to have either team interested in Twins players and then manage a mutually acceptable trade. I can't see trading Brooks Lee or Royce Lewis. Would Oakland trade Murphy for a return of Larnach, Ober, and Raya? Would Toronto trade Jansen for Ober and Kepler? One thing is clear. The Twins need a catcher. Christian Vasquez would be a good addition via a free agent signing. Narvaez may be acceptable but is less than exciting. I can't see spending big money on Contreras.
  21. I think Twins fans like each of these, but they may be a little light. Hopefully you are right on. My guess is: 6 x 35 = 210 8 x 32 = 256 10 x 30 = 300 Agree with those opt outs.
  22. Miranda can hit. Something makes me think that Julien could be an even better hitter than Miranda this year. Arraez just won a batting title. Each of these three can hit at the MLB level. The question is defense. Maybe their bats are good enough to cover for their gloves. Royce Lewis and Brooks Lee could both be good gloves at third base and they project as decent bats as well. It doesn't seem like the Twins will be too worried about third base, especially after adding a decent reserve in Kyle Farmer. I wonder if the Twins are considering using one or two of the names from above as a trade chip.
  23. The argument can certainly be made and the Twins do have some decent starting pitchers and inexperienced pitchers waiting for their opportunity. We all hope to see the best from our starting pitchers. However, it is worth wondering what goals the Twins front office have for their team as compared to those teams who expect to compete for league championships. Not including Verlander (who may be resigned), Houston can roll out McCullers, Valdez, Javier, and Garcia before even considering Urquiddy and Brown. Would any of the Twins starters even make the Astros team? Maybe or maybe not. The Twins will need at least one big addition to their starting staff to enter the 2023 season with hopes of playing .500 baseball.
  24. Kenta Maeda would be best served to ease his way back through multiple inning stints in the bullpen. I hope he is used that way in the beginning of the year. However, Maeda will get his shot because the Twins need someone to start games. If Maeda displays the strength and command, he will get a ton of starts. Gray has been a fair starting pitcher but he has struggled to get past the 5th inning in the last three years. Mahle has had one decent year. Ryan had a good first year as a starter. I'm hoping the Twins give one starting pitching slot to Varland, Ober, or Winder. The Twins need starting pitching. A rotation of Gray, Mahle, Maeda, Ryan, and Ober won't cut it.
